Becoming A Better Youth Fitness Coach

Youth Fitness Coaching Tips From Dave Jack

Youth fitness Coach IYCA

By Pat Rigsby

It gets tough to access the credibility of coaches in this internet age. Many people that call themselves ‘coaches’ who haven’t actually coached anyone and there are many giving fitness advice that really shouldn’t.

So who do you trust?

That’s where the IYCA is here to help.

We constantly research and make sure to listen to coaches that are in-the-trenches getting great results. We know there is a lot of noise out there on the internet, so when we actually find quality information from a top-notch coach, we like to pass that info on.

I wanted to share a video with you from one of the best youth fitness coaches I know – IYCA Expert Dave Jack.

If you’ve never seen Dave present – it’s one of the most inspiring things you’ll ever see. The best part is, he not only talks the talk, he walks the walk.

Here is the link to the video -> http://youth-fitness- specialist.com

I know it’s a bold statement, but this one presentation will make you a better youth fitness coach.

Dave’s passion is contagious and this video will help you continue your mission on changing your client’s lives.

So, forget all of the internet ‘guru’ hype out there of pseudo coaches trying to sell you the next SECRET and checkout this powerful (and free) video and discover what a real elite coach does to become an even better coach.

IYCA Offers you More

[wpfblike]

Industry-wide, we complain that certification organizations are out-dated, take all our money and don’t give us anything back of value in return.

Certification companies ask for your cash, but don’t give you anything of merit for it, and at the same time, you’re unsure how much longer you can keep working in your passion because the long days and horrible hours aren’t making you enough to live and don’t give you ANY long-term security…

Then I come in offering a free DVD set that is LOADED with cutting edge training and business information, that you can have for no charge, as long as you become a Member of the IYCA for 12-months.

IYCA: Thank You and A Gift From Me

IYCA Provides…

by Wil Fleming – www.beforcefit.com

It is the week of Thanksgiving and I wanted to share with you why I am thankful for the IYCA.

Certainly I am thankful for the knowledge I gain from attending live events and the continuing education certification courses but that only touches the surface. The IYCA gives away, literally gives away, so much valuable information. All of it for free. The IYCA treats its members like family. I am thankful for being a part of an organization that wants me to be able to do what I love better than any other professional around.

As members of the IYCA we are all passionate about the training of our youth. Some are passionate about reducing the prevalence of obesity in our youth, others want to help athletes succeed to their highest levels. Wherever you fall on this spectrum there is one thing that will determine your success.

Your ability to reach as many young people as possible.

Brian's Close Call

I’ll just come straight out with it.

I wrecked my car last weekend.

Something I likely won’t forget anytime soon.

I was driving from Chicago to Minnesota in order to present at a
seminar in St. Paul.

Scheduled to speak at 10:40 in the morning on Sunday, I opted to
leave my house at around 11pm Saturday night.

I had slept a bunch that day and was completely rested, so felt good
about making the 6 hour drive through the night.

At roughly 3am I found myself driving on a very poorly lit stretch of
the Wisconsin country-side. Wide awake, in great spirits and enjoying
an educational CD playing from my car’s stereo.

I won’t belabor the details or try to write in any sort of suspenseful
way.

Just the facts.

Without warning at all, an animal of some sort ran across the highway
and struck the front of my car.

IYCA Passion: Losing Is Your Only Safe Bet

IYCA Criticism is something I’ve just come to accept as part of my job.

It’s far easier to throw a brick at a house than it is to build one yourself.

And thus far since creating and launching the IYCA, I’ve seen firsthand how
that statement is true.

From world-class, big name industry icons to local youth sports Coaches, I
have taken my share of lumps over the past few years.

People criticize.

They publicly demean.

They get personal and attack my character.

It used to bother me some, I’ll admit.

Doesn’t phase me an ounce anymore.

Quite frankly, I sort of like it (is that odd???).

When you’re doing something of worth, it draws attention from all kinds of people.

Some are fans, some think you’re an idiot.

But you soon come to realize that the bad is going to come with the good.

The reason I’m bringing this up is because a good friend of mine recently forwarded
me an article about this very topic.

One particular sentence caught my attention –

IYCA International Summit DVD’s are almost ready.

I’m about 4 or 5 days away from being able to let you get your hands
on what has been called "one of the greatest fitness events ever."

And that’s why I’m able now to show you this short video.

25 year industry vet and international fitness legend, Billy Corbit, gave
the keynote introduction at my first annual IYCA International Summit.

The passion, energy, emotion and dedication is absolutely palpable.

Watch and see exactly what I’ve been telling you about –

"I just wanted to let you know that the IYCA Summit was by far
one of the very best fitness conferences I’ve ever attended. Thank
you so much for everything you’ve done to create the IYCA and
also for presenting such a fabulous weekend of incredible speakers!
During the two days, I learned so much about youth fitness and it has
truly given me a new and very real perspective on my fitness coaching.
As others have said, the Summit truly was life-changing!"

IYCA and Youth Fitness Pros

"Our staff saw first-hand the commitment and passion that draws many to the IYCA. The Founder volunteered his time and drove 5 hours to help us out. He gave our team pointers on how to become better coaches and grow our training business! We are still in awe of how well this past weekend went! Thanks again Brian for the man you are and the organization you assembled!! What the IYCA has done for my career is something I just can’t express in words"

How to Become a Leader in Athlete Development

[wpfblike]

Athlete Development Leaders

Leadership is something that gets spoken about quite a bit in the
fitness, athlete development and sport training world.

But what is a leader?

What are leadership qualities?

I found it interesting when thinking about the tone and content of
this article to realize that we often completely misunderstand the
word as well as its meaning.

We always think of ‘leadership’ as the ACT of being in charge of
a group and perhaps becoming their mentor.

But upon reflection, I had an awakening.

True leadership isn’t simply about ACTING as a leader or mentor.

It’s the essence of being ABLE to.

Do you have the ABILITY to lead?

Kids Fitness Certification: Weekend Food for Thought

[wpfblike]

"It felt more like a family gathering than a conference"

Carlos Alvarez, one of the tremendous speakers from my Summit
two weekends ago in Louisville, wrote that on his blog just three
days after the Summit concluded.

And he’s right.

Nick, Pat, Sara and myself go out of our way to create a ‘family-
oriented’ feel about the IYCA.

It’s not self-serving.

We don’t do it because we think it’s going to get us more ‘sales’.

We do it because we think it’s necessary.

Fitness Professionals are a fragmented group.

Most fitness certification organizations offer credentials and little
more.

They disseminate information and give you letters to put after
your last name, but don’t ever go much above or beyond that to
impact your life or improve your career.

The IYCA is going to change the world partly with our Kids Fitness Certification.

But we can’t do it without you.

You’re part of the family.

Youth Fitness Certification

It’s impossible for me to go back to business as usual today.

So I’m not even going to bother trying.

The IYCA Summit has left Nick, Pat, Sara and myself in a dream-like state

that has proven tough to shake.

So much energy.

So much passion.

So much drive.

The experience has reminded me of a conversation I had with a good friend

and colleague of mine back in 2003 when I first incorporated the IYCA.

“Look at what all the other youth fitness certification are doing, Brian, and do the exact

opposite”

I’ll never forget that and strive every day to make sure of it.

Fitness Training For Youth: What More Do You Need To Hear ?

[wpfblike]

Fitness Training For Youth Is Booming

Short and to the point.

I may even say something that offends you.

But in the end, trust me when I say you need to hear this…

You don’t make enough money.

You simply don’t earn what you’re worth.

That’s not a matter of greed or indulgence.

It’s just a fact.

The fitness training for youth and youth sport training niche is the fastest growing
portion of our entire industry.

Worth more than $4 billion annually in the United States alone.

Parents are willing to pay top dollar for Personal Trainers who
can rid their children of excess body weight.

Parents are happy to shell out thousands to qualified Performance
Coaches in order to improve their child’s athletic ability.

And yet there you sit.

Wondering why you’re still working from 5am – 8pm as a Fitness
Professional, training unmotivated and unhappy adults.

Jealous as you read the stories of other professionals who
have found the fitness training for youth ‘system’ to success and are now working
less hours for more money.

Concerned if all your effort and passion for this industry is
ever going to be enough and finally provide the career you
so desperately want… and need.

All religious aspects of this story aside, I’m sure you’ve heard
this tale before –

A town was flooding and its citizens were evacuating with
great haste.

One man decided not to.

He opted to stay in his home and wait for God’s help.

As the water rose, he was forced to climb on top of his roof.

While there, another man in a row boat came by.

"The town is flooding. Here, get in my row boat and I’ll take
you to safety."

"No thanks" said the man. "God will help me. I am waiting
for Him."

A few minutes later, an emergency craft sailed by.

"The town is flooding" the officer said. "Let us throw you a
line and we can take you to safety".

"No thanks" said the man. "God will help me. I am waiting
for Him."

Several minutes later a helicopter flew by and paused over
the man’s house.

From the speaker, the pilot called down.

"The town is flooding. Let me cast down a rope for you. I
will fly you to safety."

"No thanks" said the man. "God will help me. I am waiting
for Him."

Not too long after that, the man drowned.

When he arrived in Heaven, he said to God, "I believed in
you. Why didn’t you save me?"

God answered.

"I sent you a row boat, an emergency ship and a helicopter.
What more do you want from me?"

You don’t earn the living you deserve.

You don’t have the career you want.

And yet the youth niche is flourishing.

You need new information, a fresh perspective and exact
blueprints of success from some of the most successful Fitness Training For Youth
professionals in this industry.

I write you emails.

I tell you what you’re going to be missing by not coming to
the IYCA International Summit in February.

More than 150 other professionals from all over the world
have already registered.

What more do you need to hear?

Points to Success as a youth fitness specialist

O.K… So here they are….

Point 1

As a youth fitness specialist, Follow Principles not Values

I take this from the work of Stephen Covey in the 8th Habit.

We too often measure our success by the ‘values’ of a situation.

How much weight did we lose

How much money do we make

How many ‘A’ grades did we get on our report card

These are the items that most of us chase, but they are superficial and seldom

give us depth or a sincere appreciation for life.

Rather than following or pursuing the ‘values’ in life, go after the principles of

a situation.

What makes you feel good?

Whatever it is, do that.

Money will come.

Pounds will drop.

Good grades will happen.

All we have to do is pursue our desires with conviction.

The secondary factors I mentioned above will come on their own…

Point 2

Sawubona

This is a Zulu word that technically means ‘hello’.

But it has a much deeper meaning than that.

The literal translation is ‘I See You’ and is used as a formal greeting when

seeing friends or family.

And I love the concept.

We are so loose with language in our society.

Think about what you say when you pass a friend along the street…

Hey

What’s Up

How You Doing

Informal. Lacking passion. Do you even really care about what the answer is?

Sawubona is a word I’ve come to embrace as having a deeper meaning.

“I See You”

I’m paying attention.

My focus in on you.

I find that very powerful.

But here’s the real point of that word as far as I’m concerned.

I’ve learned to say it to myself.

Do you really know that person you see when looking in the mirror each morning?

Have you truly connected with yourself and understand who you are, where your

passions lie and what you want in life?

Give it a try sometime…

Point 3

Don’t Think – Create Habits

Thoughts don’t become things.

They don’t translate into tangibility unless they are converted.

Powerful thoughts or images you may have for yourself or your life will only

become real if you start creating daily habits around making them so.

This is one of the major limitations people have in our society.

They imagine and ‘dream’ of large scale things for themselves, but keep them

as nothing more than thoughts.

If you truly want to live your dreams, than start creating daily habits around making

them so.

This will change your life forever…

So those are my own personal success habits.

What do you think?

Leave your comments below….

Youth Fitness Specialist: Seize the Day

[wpfblike]

Youth Fitness Specialist Certification with the IYCA

Dead Poets Society is one of my favorite movies of all
time.

Have you ever seen it?

Robin Williams plays a rather eccentric English teacher
at a very conservative private school in the Northeastern
portion of the United States.

And he has a way of ‘sticking out’.

The students adore him. He is funny, quick witted and
makes the material he is teaching literally jump alive
through passion and humor.

The faculty see him altogether differently.

He is against the norm.

Not strict enough in an iron-fisted sort of way.

They resent the bond he strikes up with his students
and lament at the fact that they don’t ‘fear’ him like
they should.

One of the most memorable moments in that movie comes
towards the beginning of the first few opening scenes.

He is addressing his class and showing them photographs
of former students of the school – many of which were
taken decades ago and the people in them long since
deceased.

I remember watching with great intrigue as the scene
unfolded, knowing that there was to be a significant
lesson involved.

"Do you know what these photographs would say to you
if they could talk, boys?"

I remember this line very well.

It was almost like I knew I was about to learn something
of great importance.

"They’d say, Carpe Diem…. Seize the Day"

Now, that Latin saying has gone on to be a very
commonly known part of English vernacular, in large
part of because of Dead Poets Society.

And it’s meaning has become a rallying cry for thousands
of business and life ‘go getters’ worldwide.

Seize the Day.

If this were your last day on earth…

If your life was perfect, it would look like…

I bring this all up to illustrate a point.

That you can have everything you want in life so long
as you commit to going after it.

But you must act.

You must take action.

You must Seize the Day.

"I don’t know if I want to spend the money to get the
IYCA Level 1 Youth Fitness Specialist certification"
I hear this all the time.

But this is the fastest growing niche in the entire
fitness industry and becoming more saturated by the
second.

To make your mark and ensure a successful career, you
need to act now…. Not consider things over and over
again and wait for some kind of ‘sign’ in order to
make your final decision .

Certainly making a decision requires a reasonable amount
of thinking and consideration, but not to a point that it
hinders your desire and need to move forward.

Many people believe that the mark of a savvy consumer
is in the deliberate and slow process they use in
deciding whether or not to make a purchase.

But that’s not savvy.

That’s indecisive.

And in the end, indecision will cost you significantly
more than making a thoughtful, yet expedited determination.

Especially when a ‘good deal’ is staring you straight in
the face.

On Tuesday, the IYCA Level 1 – Youth Fitness Specialist
certification is going up in price.

Period. End of story.

But today, you have an opportunity to become part of
the fastest growing fitness organization and work in the
fastest growing and most lucrative portion of the fitness
industry.

For the lowest price possible.

Last chance.

24 hours.

End of the line.

So will you Seize the Day?

Realize that the excuses you keep conjuring up are nothing
more than you delaying on creating a successful future
for yourself?

Here’s your exclusive link to secure your lowest
possible cost –

http://www.iyca.org/fitspecialist1

I’ve been profiled in Newsweek.

Traveled worldwide as a consultant.

Written two books that have been sold in 6 different
continents.

Become known as the ‘go to guy’ for youth fitness and
sports training.

And every morning when I wake up, I repeat the phrase
‘Carpe Diem’ for at least 5 minutes.

It reminds me that today is a gift.

That today, I have the ability and opportunity to make
something special happen.

And my accomplishments are a direct result of that.

It’s time to Seize the Day.

Opportunity doesn’t wait forever.

And In this case, it’s only going to wait 24 more hours.

Here’s that link one more time –

Coaching Young Athletes – Your Passion or Job?

Coaching Young Athletes Can Be So Rewarding.

“We made it to the State Quarterfinals for two consecutive years.
This had never been done before in school history”

I would say that’s the crowning achievement of my career.

I’ve trained Olympic athletes.

Highly paid professionals from various sports.

National Team competitors from all over North America and
Europe.

But I have never been more honored or filled with pride than I
was when I received a letter from the head football coach of
a high school program I volunteer for.

The quote above was part of that letter.

There is something uniquely special about working with and coaching Young Athletes.

So much so that it’s left me sleepless tonight.

I’m writing this to you at 2:00am and am literally bursting at
the seams with energy and exuberance.

I don’t love my job.

I don’t love my career.

I love my place in the world.

My destiny and path.

To aid in the grooming and development of young men and women
through sport, but for the purpose of life preparation, is an
honor that cannot be described in words.

It is a calling.

Something you are compelled to do.

For years I have beencoaching young athletes and teams.

Over 15,000 to date and counting.

And I remember them all.

I stay in touch with as many of them as I can to this day.

They were not my clients and I there Trainer.

They were my focus and reason for getting out of bed every
morning.

For 14 years, I have not had one day of work.

I have had 5,110 days of enthusiastic joy, though.

This all may sound odd and a touch ‘mushy’ – but that is the
difference between a job and a passion.

My obligation to these kids far exceeds wanting them to get
faster and stronger.

It is in helping cultivate their futures.

And by default, the future of our world.

Yes, my young athletes are widely known as the fastest, strongest
and most injury resistant.

But they also are know to be the best students, most
trustworthy people and have gone on to have success in both
the sporting world and beyond.

It’s much more than speed training or understanding lifting
mechanics.

It’s about combining the best possible training methods with
a coaching system that truly helps young people reach for the
stars in every conceivable way.

My years of experience, trail and error, many mistakes and
re-evaluations have all been honed down into one system that
works – it works every time for any aged athlete in any sport.

It’s the entire system that has the right ingredients of speed,
strength, athletic development, agility and coaching.

I’ll never forget the look in the eyes of those 70+ high school
football players as they took the field for the State
Quarterfinals for the second year in a row.

It was over two years ago and I still get chills thinking about Coaching Young Athletes.

We lost that game.

But as several of the kids came off the field, crying with
disappointment, they sought me out, wrapped their arms around me
and said…

“Thanks Coach…. for everything”

That’s the difference between a passion and a job.

I’m going to be making Complete Athlete Development available
one last time at some point over the next couple of weeks.

I hope you can see how important an opportunity that is for you.

‘Till next time,

Does IYCA Youth Fitness Education have Raving Fans?

[wpfblike]

Youth Fitness Career Success

I read a great book recently called ‘Raving Fans’.

It details some principles that every business needs to have in
order to become successful.

The 3 main principles in ‘Raving Fans’ are:

1. Passion and honesty trump sales and marketing

2. Be sure to know what it is your customers actually want

3. Give more than is expected

That book has had a much greater impact on me than I realized when I first read it.

And I’ll tell you why…

… Those ‘3 Principles’ have shaped the IYCA from top to bottom.

Let me give you some examples –

1. Passion and honesty over sales and marketing –

I have never sought out to ‘sell’ or ‘market’ the IYCA.

I let my considerable passion do the talking for me. Whenever I present a seminar, write a newsletter or post a video on this blog, I am overwhelmed at how much of my passion people see.

I think it’s a lot easier to ‘follow’ or ‘become part of’ an organization whose passion and honest approach to trying to evoke change in the world comes through much louder than any sort of sales strategy they create.

2. Be sure to know what your customers actually want –

The average Trainer earns $27,000 a year.

And I consider that tragic.

That’s why the IYCA created an incredibly vast and comprehensive ‘business development’ section to our youth fitness educational package.

From free information in our Gold Membership area to CEU courses designed specifically to teach you the aspects of how to run a successful and profitable youth fitness business, we know that providing world-class education on youth training and development was only half of what we needed to do.

We needed to make sure you learned how to earn a comfortable living and create a lasting and fulfilling career for yourself.

3. Give more than is expected –

Yesterday alone, I fielded more than 70 phone calls and emails from people worldwide who had questions about our Level 1 certification.

70 personal contacts in one day.

Not to mention our other ‘go above and beyond’ measure like the ‘Coffee, Tea and Talk’ program we’ve put together.

Two hours of free time with me and the rest of the IYCA executives. Answering questions, sharing stories and helping you create the career you’ve always wanted.

We do more because we care more.

Here’s that video clip of our IYCA Member.

Listen to the passion in his voice.

The way he explains how his career and life have changed through youth fitness.

Understand that we don’t have ‘customers’… We have raving fans because we are so willing to go above and beyond.

The link to become part of the IYCA is located right underneath this video screen.

It’s your last chance to join us and truly understand what it’s like to become part of an organization whose mission, passion and honesty far exceeds the marketing aspects of what it is they’re trying to sell you…

** When you click through on the link below, you’ll notice that the video above is of the same fitness professional whose video is at the top of that website as well. No coincidence – he became a raving fan on day 1, and remains a raving fan to this day…

… What does that tell you?

Youth Fitness: Could It Be Your Life’s Purpose…

Youth Fitness and how it could be your future.

Have you ever been to a standard fitness or sport training conference?

If so, you likely walked away with some good information.

And while that’s great, I always say that the fitness and sport training industry is moving from the age of INFORMATION to the age of INSPIRATION.

You can get INFORMATION anywhere… Including while attending conferences.

But how often do you walk away INSPIRED to take immediate action on what you just saw and heard?

More over, have you EVER walked away saying stuff like this…

Those video clips were taken at the last conference the IYCA <span style=”font-weight: bold;”>Youth Fitness held right here in Chicago.

“… I consider the event priceless…”

“… One of the best things I have done in my 28 year career…”

Those are great success stories and I am very proud of what we INSPIRED people to do that day.

The IYCA recently presented a seminar in New York City as well.

Check out how unbelievably excited and INSPIRED this fitness professional was…

BUT…

I personally get emotional every time I look or even think about this next video.

It makes me realize that I am truly in the right profession and that so many others share the same passion as I do.

And honestly… I have NEVER seen anything like this before:

We (you and I) are the Future of Youth Fitness my friend.

Sincerely,
