youth fitness

Okay, the inventory is set and ready to move!

And here’s what I’ve got for you:

1) Closed-Door: How to Create Profitable & Effective Speed Camps

On the Sunday of the 2009 IYCA International Summit, I did a 4-hour closed-door presentation along with Pat Rigsby:

:: How to Teach Deceleration & Acceleration (6-Step Sequence)

:: How to Prepare Athletes for Speed Combine Camps

:: How to Create Programs that Are Effective in 1, 2 or 7 Day Speed Camps

:: How to Write & Send Press Releases So You Get in the Paper & on TV

:: How to Create Free Community Events that Lead to BIG BUCKS

This seminar was wildly successful and became an international smash hit.  Not just because of what I taught about effective Speed & Agility Training, but because I revealed my own formula for creating weekend Speed Camps that routinely generated as much as $10,000!!

Training Young Athletes & Hmmmmm?

Two Youth Fitness Things That Make Me Go HMMMMMMM?

I’ll admit it. I am older than much of the IYCA “core” demographic. After attending last year’s First Annual International Summit in Louisville, I walked away feeling somewhat surprised that I was actually experienced enough (read: old enough) to be considered a veteran in the field. That said, I am old enough to remember when The Arsenio Hall Show was the late night show to watch. One of my favorite bits was his now infamous “Things that make you go ‘hmmmmm?’” To further demonstrate how “seasoned” I am, also remember when a song of the same name by C & C Music Factory was getting heavy airplay in the rotation at my local pop station. Since I always get a little nostalgic during the Christmas season, I thought it appropriate to “blow the dust off” Arsenio’s bit and give it a youth fitness slant. So, without further ado, I give you “Two Youth Fitness Things That Make Me Go ‘Hmmmmm’.”

Coaching Young Athletes Too Much or Not Enough?

Coaching Young Athletes

I have long contended that too much coaching when it comes to working
with very young athletes is far worse than not enough instruction.

Give them ideas of what it is you want.

Offer more instruction if they need it.

And then let them play.

Allow them to figure it out.

This process builds Athletic Intelligence and gives very young athletes the
ability to warehouse knowledge through a trial and error sort of way.

Do you agree?

Disagree and want to explain why?

Please watch this two minute video during which I explain how to correctly be
Coaching Young Athletes the process of deceleration.

Give it a watch and leave your comments below. I really want to know your
thoughts on the matter.

This is Why He’s Successful In Youth Training

Aaron Larmore gets youth training.

That’s why he’s experiencing the success he is.

:: Current IYCA Member of the Week

:: Owner of the amazing, massive and successful ‘Fit 2 Live’ gym in Iowa

:: Profiled in the Iowa City newspapers virtually every week

Did I mention that Aaron is only 26 years old?

Pretty impressive, isn’t it?

I suppose you could argue that some people just have ‘it’, you know.

Success is something they are.

Whatever they touch just works.

Well, at the risk of sounding mean, that isn’t at all true for Aaron.

Yes, he is a very capable Coach.

But do you know why Aaron has experienced such amazing success?

Youth Speed Camps success

So you know that the first annual IYCA International Summit was an
absolute monumental success.

You’ve read the comments from our attendees and seen a few video
clips from some of the presenters.

But there’s something I haven’t told you yet.

Technically, the Summit was a 2-day event.

Groundbreaking information from some of the most incredible and
successful Coaches and business moguls in this industry spread
out over an amazing 2-days.

There was however, a third day to the Summit.

One extra day of information.

experience this in person.

On Day 3, I gave a 3-hour presentation on two topics that are near
and dear to me…

Youth Fitness Industry Pride…

Youth Fitness Industry

So tomorrow I’m off to Providence Rhode Island.

For three years now, I’ve been honored to have a place on the
esteemed ‘Speakers Panel’ for Perform Better.

In my mind, one of the preeminent organizations in our youth fitness industry,
it has been a sincere pleasure to share the stage with such
industry icons as Juan Carlos Santana, Mike Boyle, Gray Cook,
Alwyn Cosgrove and Al Vermeil.

But something is very different about this years Perform Better
tour.

I’m still speaking at all the events.

Rhode Island this month.

Chicago next.

Long Beach in July.

But this year, I’m traveling to each of those locations one day
early in order to present a private Level 1 Youth Fitness Specialist
certification to attendees.

Perform Better decided a few months ago that the IYCA and its
message to the youth fitness industry, is worth that much.

Children’s Fitness: 3 Career Tips

[wpfblike]

Children’s fitness is what your missing

Without pulling punches or beating around the bush, I’m going to
give you a straight look at something today.

Why you need to become a Youth Fitness Specialist through
the IYCA.

Do yourself a favor and read this entire post – it’s short, succinct
and very much to the point.

But the impact it could have on your career is tremendous.

Reason # 1 – Belong to Something Bigger

As a Fitness Professional and Coach, your career is very much an
isolated one.

Yes you have your clients and certainly you have some colleagues,
but what kind of professional support and daily inspiration do you
have?

The hours can be very long and the pay often insignificant.

What keeps you going and motivated?

Taking on yet another client who wants to drop a ‘few pounds’ or
look ‘better in a bathing suit’ just can’t stimulate you forever.

That’s one of the primary reasons this industry has such a high
turn over rate – Fitness Professionals either burnout quickly or
end up losing motivation all together and opt of move on.

Imagine instead feeling like this everyday –

"I am honored to be a part of such an AWESOME organization!
To walk into the Summit and to be in the room with over 200 like
minded, passionate individuals who care about youth fitness is
beyond words. The IYCA is a global family and one I am proud to
be a part of. I cherish each and every family member that I met
and look forward to learning and sharing from all in our family"

IYCA International Summit: I Admit to Being Emotional

[wpfblike]

Tomorrow I’ll be in Louisville and kicking off the first IYCA International Summit.

More than 200 attendees from all over the world will be there.

And I admit that this is going to be an emotional time for me.

I founded the IYCA back in 2003.

Released it to market in late 2005.

The struggles have been many and the uphill climb steep.

But I wouldn’t have changed even one experience.

Secrets to Young Athlete Rentention

Here’s a brief look at the IYCA Young Athlete system –

1) Young Athlete Training SYSTEM, not Training Session

School is a ‘system’ that takes years to go through.

Parents understand that and are more than willing to pay
and commit their kids into a program that develops them
over time and through progressive phases.

This is your selling point for a young athlete.

2) Per MONTH Fee, Not Per Session Payments

Lock the young athlete<,u> in for longer durations by having them
commit to between 4 – 12 month training packages in which
the monthly fee will be significantly less than a per session
rate.

Parents love the ‘price break’ and are more than willing to
keep their kids enrolled in your program.

Youth Conditioning Programs Tip of the Week

[wpfblike]

Youth Conditioning Programs

Why hold on to the ‘norm’?

What’s the point of doing what everyone else always has?

Case in point.

I’ve worked with literally dozens of different high schools
over the past several years and almost always have been
asked to ‘add’ to there already existing programs rather
than re-create a system that I know will work better.

It takes time, but eventually the Coaching staff come to
learn that my style of athletic development works better
than what they currently have and turn the reigns
completely over to me.

And when that happens, do you know what my first step
is in changing the face of their youth conditioning programs and methods?

I separate the freshmen from everyone else.

High school represents a perfect developmental model.

4-years of having the same athletes – guaranteed.

So rather than making the young 14 year olds perform the
same lifts as the 18 year old seniors (and with the same
zeal of heavy loads) I remove them from the equation and
train them as a separate group.

We work on things like summation of forces, lift technique
and speed/agility basics.

This gives them a solid foundation on which to grow and
ensures they don’t get caught up in the ‘how much can you
lift’ world of high school athletics.

By the time they are sophomores, they are much better
equipped to handle loads and perform lifts with more
accuracy and precision.

Now this methodology flies in the face of what most high
school athletic programs do.

But trust me when I say that it’s a much superior system.

Don’t be afraid to go against the ‘norm’ with Youth Conditioning Programs.

Carlos Alvarez, looked at as the best high school
strength coach in the entire United States, will be discussing
topics just like this one next month at our International Summit.

Youth Fitness Training and Business Thoughts: Day 1 Was a Success…

[wpfblike]

Youth Fitness Training lessons from Obama

Yesterday I wrote about the ‘winds of change’ as Barack
Obama took office as President of the United States.

Did you catch any of the headlines or stories about what
he did in his first day on the job?

Without going into any details, simply put, he made changes.

And whether you like his politics or not, he promised change
and on Day 1, certainly delivered.

Now, here’s what I like about that….

He sent a clear and defining message that he intends to
take action.

It would be very easy to blame the economic crisis on the
past administration.

Simple to throws his hands up and say ‘well what am I
supposed to do’ with the war in Irag.

Or easier yet to cry innocent on the obvious dislike that
occurs between political parties in this country rather than
try to build bridges and close gaps.

But instead, he’s opted to take action.

And while the history books have yet to reveal the scope
of his Presidency’s success, I can assure you that the
only people who ever become successful in this world
are the one’s who don’t point fingers, created excuses
or blame circumstances for their plight in life.

They take responsibility for it all, understand that they
are in charge of their own destiny’s and act on what
they know will serve them.

The IYCA International Summit will be a landmark event.

Cutting edge information related to youth fitness training and youth fitness business
development.

Sure fire strategies to increased profits and career
advancement.

Better yet, a comprehensive manual that we are quietly
calling the ‘Blueprint for Success Book’ – a literal step-
by-step manual for what you do the second you walk out
the door from the Youth Fitness Training Summit in order to put what you
learned into action.

In short, a weekend full of guarantees.

So…

Why aren’t you coming?

Success only comes to those youth fitness training business owners who take action.

Period.  End of story.
