I have read several books, however they all have had importance to me. I would have to say movement education at Brock University over 20 years ago has had the biggest effect on me.

I was able to create “Pound The Penguin” as sports director at a camp that taught kids of different ages and different skills to stop, start change direction in a team setting.

    It was a blast!

I’m very curious about this book, however I can’t seem to find it for “next to nothing” anywhere. The cheapest I’ve found is 20 bucks. Can anybody tell me where I can maybe get it a little cheaper?

Thanks for sharing “Children and Sports Training” – I just ordered it!

Hard to pick my #1 resource, but a very influential book on my coaching was “Catch Them Being Good: Everything You Need to Know to Successfully Coach Girls” by Tony DiCicco

Although it is about girls soccer, the concepts of how to inspire and motivate players are universal and an invaluable tool for any coach.

Excited to learn about some other resources too!

I’ve read many books and resources, the IYCA website being a great one. I would have thought 20 bucks was next to nothing!

Bought that book years ago. Also Tudo Bompa has a book on sports and kids.
My daughters got me to coach kids. I was a fitness trainer so I approached it like a client and researched the topic took courses….
My kids are now 27, 25 and 18. My 18 year old boy is going to College this fall. He told me on father’s day that I should take a team and coach. “All my friends love you”. Best fathers day present i ever got.
My best advice in training kids is to stay positive and not make a big thing out of failure. Life is not fair. There is good and bad. Learn from both experiences.
