Speed Certification – No Charge?

Couple of urgent things for you.

And yes, one of them is me explaining how you can get my brand-new Speed & Agility
Certification for absolutely no charge whatsoever.

Read on…

Okay, my first order of business is simple.

All the knowledge and know-how in the world doesn’t mean that you will have a profitable
career in this industry.

Attrition rates are high.

The poor economy is causing Trainers and Coaches worldwide to pack it in and start looking
somewhere else for income and a livelihood.

But you know something, I never experienced what you’re going through.

And neither did Lee Taft.

Collectively, our Speed Camps made, on average, about $3,000 -$5,000 of revenue for us
per camp.

The back-end to that was worth roughly another $12,000 – $15,000.

And it’s because Lee and I have a system.

All effective training programs and every successful business is based on a system.

It’s not a ‘try this to see if it works’ or ‘let’s give this strategy a shot’ kind of thing.

It’s a process of following an exact and specific blueprint that works.

So, as an added bonus to the Speed & Agility Certification material,Lee and I also recorded
a full and complete audio within which you get all of our secrets.

Then entire system from A – Z.

How to run Speed Camps that work.

That are profitable.

That will gross you in the neighborhood of $3,000 – $20,000 each time you run one.

So, if the prospects of you obtaining a system for training athletes that can literally guarantee
they will be the fastest in your geographic area AND learning how to run highly successful
and entirely profitable Speed Camps sounds interesting to you….

… Then pay CLOSE attention to my next point…

I’m giving a Speed & Agility Certification away.

For free.

No charge.

No strings attached.

More dedicated professionals deserve the right to know what Lee and I know.

About training and business.

All you have to do is tell me why you deserve it.

That’s it.

Just write a passionate entry below as to why YOU deserve this once-in-a-lifetime chance.

The value of this educational program is off the charts but to say that it can and will change
your career is not the least bit over-stating.

Worth getting your hands on a copy for free?

Then leave a comment telling me why.

We’re giving away the complementary copy on next Monday’s webinar with Latif Thomas
and Lee.

You MUST be present to receive your free copy of the Certification.

Reserve your spot right now, for free, by going here

My young days I grew up on a farm and was taught from then on to finish what you start and to put full intensity and drive into everything you do. Age 11 I received a basket of weights from my parents friend with about 100lbs of weight and lots of reading material. From that point I was hooked and knew my desire was to do it for a living and one day open a gym. I lifted and played sports to the hardest intensity I could master, of course I hit many injuries and it was my desire to read and learn about my mistakes that lead me to further my education.

After receiving a college diploma and many certifications I have now understood there is so much more to learn and I am striving to feed my hunger. I have been working 5:30 am til atleast 7pm with my clients day in day out for the past 9 years. I have just opened a large warehouse gym and want to expand my knowledge with the material you have to offer so I can pass it on to the youth and eager trainee I work with to teach them how to apply what is taught in the functional strength world into how it applies to life and goal setting.

As a Youth Fitness Coach, It bothers me to see the many kids that need this system that are not able to benefit from it. I think with your system that teaches how to work in groups it will make it more affordable for a greater number of kids to benefit. My son goes to a school where there is no strength and conditioning program, which baffles me. I do not understand how parents could allow their children to particpate in sports without preparing them pyhsically and mentally for the game.

I want to make a difference in my city, region, and eventually state. And I think I can do that with a company like this which has a international vison. I want to help kids get back to the days of physical activity being fun and still making it effective. I hope that I win this as I am eager to start working tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Jimmy Lamour

Kids deserve to learn through discovery. At times this may mean numerous repetitions with in a confined area or space. It all ends up being about confidence!

I have been trainng athletes for 7 years and finally have opened my own business. This certification would mean so much to me but most importantly to my athletes who I have a responsibility to. I have a responsibility to make them the fastest, most agile, most powerful athletes in the world. This cert would take me and my business and again my athletes to the next level. with this certification it gives credibility, a know how and a base for knowledge to my athletes. We have done great with the athletes we have but I want better, I want my athletes to dominate and I think this program would allow my athletes to do that. Please consider me for the free cert it would mean the world to me.

Brian,

I appreciate your passion and your willingness to share your experience (challenges and successes) with others. I work at a high school and this is not a source of revenue for me, but I am always willing to learn. I was very excited about your certification program last summer, but unable to travel from Southern California to Chicago. I provide advice to many coaches on staff here at the high school and work more closely with varsity football. Selfishly, of my own 4 kids the oldest are now 11 and 9 and this will benefit their development as well.

I work at a school where service to community is emphasized and we have been awarded by the city of Los Angeles for our students donating more than 1 million hours of service. This Monday the entire Faculty and Staff walk the walk and will spend our entire teacher’s in service day at more than 20 sites in inner city Los Angeles. I will not have access to a computer, and hope that there still might be some way for me to hear what you and Lee have to say even if Monday I cannot attend the Webinar.

Thank you,

Heath

I would really appreciate and treasure a copy of you program not, for myself but for the kids that I work with. I volunteer with several organizations that deal with kids that are or have had leukemia.

Having had leukemia myself I know how good it makes you feel to be even the slightest bit active and, I can also see the benefits that it can and will offer the kids not only recovering from the disease bit it is giving them a tool and means in which to overcome several obstacles.

In closing I just wanted to say that I am not doing this or wanting to implement your program solely for profit but also so that others may see and have a chance to experience from your knowledge and expertise in this field.

I hope you choose me and thanks for even making thi possible it is a awesome offer

Sincerly

Brian – I really believe that I deserve your Speed and Agility Certification truly on the basis that I have dedicated half my life lately to sorting through your many emails marketing your various businesses and still actually read them. (just a bit of sarcastic humor there.)This really is a tribute to you because I hate and I do mean hate marketing such as yours in general because I find it very intrusive and more focused on making money than benefiting youth. The problem that arises with this for me is that I like what you say so much that I have to read what you write. I do believe I have read most of your articles that I can find and agree with all of them and I have yet to find any other material that I can agree so whole heartedly (except maybe for Mike Boyle but that is another email). You are so bang on with what you say about training young athletes and even with all the marketing I really beleive you might be that person who could reach some of these crazy parents, coaches and trainners who are doing more harm than good with our youth. I really do want to be a part of this movement but still dont’ quite trust that you are not just a marketing machine. I would love to try one of your certifications and really believe I could take what you present and use that information to its fullest with the youth that I have contact with.

Thanks,
Cheryl McDonald

Hi Brian
I am always reading, going to workshops etc in this industry I love. My passion is making sure our young athletes are learning the right things from the get go.
I was let go from my training position at a hospital rehab facility and have been doing my own training. Unfortunately with the economy, I need full time employment. I have 2 children. They are competitive athletes and their sports are costly. I have a slo taken in a teen who was abused and he now is safe with my husband and I.

This is a great opportunity, but one that we cannot afford unless I was able to win a scholarship or something.

The future is our children! They need to be trained correctly and with the latest and best research behind the training. It will start them young with good habits and carry them through life. Training to me is life training not just for helath or sport.
Thank you!

As the owner of a children’s fitness facility, my biggest hurdle is to get parents to think differently from the days of old. Many parents feel there children are failures at their chosen sport but their not. It’s the training they are getting or in many cases not getting. What I need is a renowned name and program to educate the parents. A program like this would intice parents into the facility. The program will sell itself and parents will see an improvement in the childs overall ability. Just think what this would do for a child self esteem.

After 33 years of coaching, my head coach was fired and the new head coach has brought in his own staff, so for the first time in 33 years, I don’t have work in September. I am a coach and need to work and this system will allow me to meet my financial responsibilities, reach the young people I could only reach in limited numbers with UCLA sports camps, and I can WORK.

Well brian, i started coaching soccer about 5 years ago! every mid july we do a speed and agility camp for the kids of our soccer club! so all the same ole same ole jumps, leaps and hurdles with not a real knowledge of what we are doing!!! With you and Lee system i think i could take the club in a new direction of skills and knowledge and give other coaches and sense of what why and how? things our suppose to be….But with injuries out there….I believe more and more the technique is very important laying a foundation then building from there!!! we are in oklahoma and trying to compete with the kids of texas, seems like most all of them are Bigger, Faster, Stronger than my kids our, i personally would like to change that!!! make my kids quicker , smarter overall

thanks

Brian,
I have been reading your newsletters for some time now and have recently appreciated the time you have spent speaking about speed training. It has been such a great learning experience and I thirst for more. So now I would like to tell you why I deserve this free Speed and Agility Certification.

I recently received my Masters in Teaching from Montclair State University along with my health and physical education teaching certification. I have worked very hard to get to this place in my life. I have previously been trained and continue to train in Yoga and personal fitness as well as I currently coach field hockey and softball, teach Yoga and group fitness classes and work as an adjunct in the PE department at a local University. Due to my extenisve work in the field of fitness and athletics, I would be a great candidate because of my exposure to many levels of students, especially youth. I have a passion to educate adolescents of the vast benefits of health and fitness and encourage them to use sports as an outlet for relieveing stress and to most importantly have fun!!

I have been thinking about specializing in youth athletic training which includes using my Yoga background. Yoga can be a terrific asset to sports training and conditioning. However, I feel that receiving more thorough training in Speed and Agility will greatly benefit the athletes I coach. This past summer, I taught a personal fitness class to youth at a summer camp and I was thinking about offering a class for the camp that pertains to youth sports condtionoing. If i receive your training it would again greatly benefit the stidents and myself as a teacher. Everyday I see my athletes improve is inspiring and I would love tosee them improve even more!

Finally, I would like to make a strong statement by saying that I am deeply committed to my field of work and love what I do. Recently in an interview, I was asked what was one of my most recent accomplishments and I answered, “Seeing one of my pitchers, develop her follow through!” You could see it in her eyes how proud she was of herself and it made me feel wonderful inside. Seeing her pride and enjoyment as she pitched a better game that day was remarkable! Therefore, choosing me to receive this certification would be a great pleasure for me and benefit to the youth!
My regards,
Tricia Fornaro

In life there are so many chances to do good to others, bad part is that not enough people posses the tools or the knowledge to do so. I want to focus on helping young athletes. Why? Because most of the coaches focus on how to win games, I don’t want to teach how to win I just want to help young athletes a way of life. Feel passion about the sport, help them to reach the next level, without the pressure of winning or loosing. Thats why most of the kids stop playing sport or doing excersice. They don’t realize that a certain percent of the people born with some skills and if you compete with that person is probable that you will end loosing and that will affect your self esteem. The thing is that the kid that lost to the naturally gifted kid could probably be better if a trainer takes the time to show them how.

To be honest with you I have my full time job and I do some basketball teaching for free after hours and I do it because I love basketball and I believe that learning is an opportunity that everyone should have, it shouldn’t be a privilidge that you get because you can pay someone to teach you. For me is a way to keep young people out of the streets.

I’m not saying I deserve anything but I would really like to learn more so I can pass that knowledge to the little people that will represent us in the future.

Trully yours,

Jorge Rodriguez

Hello Brian, and again thanks for all that you do!! I certinaly would love to have a copy of yours and Lees youth speed program. My motivation is to help kids /parents to understand the vital importance of your agility training program!! My daughter recently suffered a acl/mcl tears. She had to have a total knee overhaul. She did this a few months after the summit in Louisville, which I attended(Awesome by the way) I took for granted that she was getting the proper coaching WRONG, sense then I have cramed w/ sports training knowledge and I have learned so much fron you and Lee. I truly see the need for proper training of these kids. Shortly after her injury I started teaching kids the proper way to acc/dec, and it works!!!! You can see it working!! So you/Lee have motivated me to persue the profession w/viguar and professional knowledge. Thanks for your help and consideration!!!!!!!!!

I believe my kids need training to enhance their speed. 2 of my kids were the fastest kids in town when they were 5 years old. They are still fast but there are some now faster. It seems like they need more than natura ability to keep up.

I have been doing personal training for six years and coaching on the highschool level for 3 years. As a highschool coach I’ve had the oppurtunity to work with many ahtletes over the years. Unfortunately many of those athletes have/were giving the wrong information as it pertains to training to enhance speed, quickness, agillity and strength. Thankfully by the grace of the head coaches of our schools sports they have trusted and turned the training of their athlets over to me in the off seasons. I have worked extremely hard over the course of my life as a trainer and a coach to help enhance the physical being of those I have worked with. Dedicating many hours at times free of charge just because I care. I feel I deserve your certification souly because I want validation for what I do and the hard work, time and effort put into what I do. So many times you hear people “claim” to know what they are talking about. I’ve always said everybody thinks there a strength coach or a personal trainer anymore thanks to Muscle and fitness magazines. But where’s there validation???? What have they done to deserve that title? How many hours of studying and reading of validated educators have they put in? How many countless hours and endless trips to seminars have they put in? Brian I care deeply about what I do. I love what I do. Most importantly I will do this to they day I die even if it means dying poor simply because it’s passion and it’s what makes me happy in life!

September 30, 2009

I’ve been an athlete since I was a small child and played football all my life. I always prided myself on being in shape and being the fastest man on my team. Since I have a background in athletics it’s time for me to teach up and coming athletes the ways to becoming faster, have agility, and balance. Once an athlete, always an athlete and I can connect with other athletes because I’ve been in the position that most are in as far as wanting to develop speed and be the best athlete out on the field or court. That is the niche for my new site and it fits into what you’re talking about as far as developing speed. Being able to obtain a free speed certification will only help me become marketable and it’s a great sell to parents and athletes to know that I have the certification to make them faster.

Jamie Vanderheyden

The answer is quite simple Brian. If you want to be the best, you must surround yourself with the best. The best experience, the best knowledge, and the best determination to make every child or athlete have the best chance to succeed.

Hi Brian,
I am excited to have this opportunity to broaden my knowledge base about Youth Fitness. I got my youth specialist certification with you in May of this year, in Providence. I have applied soooo much of what I learned and have fed from your blog’s enthusiasm numerous times.
I have coached youth sports since my son was 4 years old. He is 13 years old now. I now coach U12 girls soccer, travel basketball and I am the head coach of our Junior High School girl’s lacrosse team. I do this as a volunteer and am thrilled to do it. In my personal training practice, I see many of these same kids off season and help them get ready for their perspective seasons. Speed, agility and general fitness are always the goal. I LOVE every minute.

I look forward to being better at what I do.

Thanks for your commitment and constant support of those of us in the “fight” with you.
Daphne

September 30, 2009

Brain,

Love your energy and passion for sports performance…especially for the youth. I have been a personal trainer for the past 3 years. I thought this would be a great transition from playing professional football (9 years in the N.F.L. 96-04) but I have realized that my true passion is training young athletes to reach thier full potential. I know that thier are more bad speed/strength coaches than good and being up here in the great North West I know that I can excel with this certification and the knowledge that I will get from both you and Lee (I am a speed insider by the way).

I don’t want to be strength and conditioning coach for a college, my love is trully training the youth of today. I know if you love what you do, the $ will follow.

Brian,
I think it is great what you are doing and enjoy your messages greatly and use the information daily in the athletic training room here at my school and also in my side personal training business. I would love to get a copy of your program because I see tons of my athletes who are not only out of shape but need the correct information to get to a even playing field with other athletes. I also hear from those athletes parents who go hours away and spend large amounts of money on trainers and such and do not see the results that they are looking for! thanks for your consideeration and look forward to more great information from you in the future!!!!

I would love to get the Speed and Agility Certification for free of charge.
I am a physical education teacher and coach and what ever I learn I use it in school with my students. After school and in the week ends I volunteer with the community youth program. Getting that Certificate helps me in giving the youth training with better results.

I am not a paid personal trainer, I am not a paid coach, I don’t own a gym or a fitness business, I am a 44 year old dad who volunteers as a coach for soccer, basketball, and baseball. I know the importance of fitness in today’s young people. Many factors come together to make things difficult for children to be healthy.

I believe youth sports is the best way to get kids fit. I have two main motivations for coaching, first make sport fun next is that I am constantly asked by parents to have their kids on my teams. I have even been asked to coach select soccer, but until I become independently wealthy, my full time job and three children have kept me from becoming more involved in local youth sports.

That being noted, I believe that the speed and agility program would help me make young athletes be successful in youth sports. Until now, I have relied on simple coaching techniques to help athletes become more proficient. The addition of speed and agility training in my practices would add additional skills I know will enhance each athletes natural abilities.

The Army motto “be all you can be” sums up by goal in youth sports. If I can help a child learn a sport, the techniques of the sport, and how they can be quicker and faster, the result could only be more opportunity to have fun and be successful.

I will be joining the Webinar and monitoring it, but will be limited as I will be at my full time job during those hours. I look forward to the Webinar and learning more to be a better coach.

This certification may exactly what I need to start a full-time or a part-time business so I can become what my e-mail represents “Fitness Training Coach”.

Thank you.

Ed Austin

I have been an Ice Hockey coach for almost 30 years, and have been passionate about training athletes since I attended a presentation with the Soviet Army hockey coaches many years ago. I have taken what I learned then, built on it over the years, and over the last several years became a follower of Lee Taft, Brian Grasso (we have met at several of the industry “bootcamps” over the last couple of years), as well as Mike Boyle, Dave Schmitz, Jason Brown (a trainer who I initially engaged with training hockey players around 7-8 years ago) and many others. With this accumulated knowledge, I provide an excellent training ground for my athletes.

I have become a sponge for training techniques, and how to make my hockey players faster and more explosive, and I work hard at what I do. The kicker in all this? It’s my passion, not my trade…I have been a volunteer coach for beginner hockey players on up to college athletes for many years. Well all that is changing…for the first time this summer, I ran my first non-hockey fitness bootcamp, and trained hockey players from teams, not my own. I currently have 2 sessions of my fitness bootcamp rolling right now, and am making plans to offer my services much more extensively to both a hockey and non-hockey population.

Speed camps for hockey?

Off-ice?

Absolutely!

The impact of off-ice training as it relates to on-ice speed is where I’m headed. A speed certification from your program, combined with what I already know about the mechanics of skating is a must. An opportunity for this to be complimentary offers a guy like myself, a guy changing careers, a significant head start in his new direction.

Thank you for the time and the opportunity. I have already registered and am looking forward to next week’s webinar. As always, I will be eager to listen to great ideas and adapt it to what I do with my hockey players…make them faster and more explosive.

Respectfully yours, Ed Austin

My job is a basketball coach and the fact that I am training young athletes this year but any athlete for that matter it terrifies me that I would do something wrong. So I try to get as much as information as possible. Your site offers a lot and I think it would be an instrument and also something to prove that I can do the training in speed the kids are having the need for…I think it would be nice to have it…

I deserve to have a copie cause I never trained for speed . And it happened that I was one of the fastest guy’s in the team . What kind of a player would I have been if I ever trained for speed ? . Now that I have a chance to share my expereience I would really like to expand my coaching .

September 30, 2009
Adam Carter

i am constantly in search of new information that will make me a better trainer and coach. I know i do not know everything and i want to learn as much as i can. I train many of the local youth in my area for free. Money is not my biggest concern. I am in this business to help people. Obviously money is important because we all have bills and children ( i have two), but to me it is more about helping people achieve their goals and dreams like no one did for me when i was young. i trained my self all the way up to college where i finally had the benefit of a strength coach. So i figure the better educated i am about all aspects of training, the more able i am at helping them achieve their goals. I would apprecriate it greatly if i could learn from your expertise so i can pass it on to my students and children.

Thanks for this opportunity,
Adam Carter

September 30, 2009

hi, i was writing to get that certification. i started training independently as a sports trainer last june. i’ve been a little successful in building my business, but i want to solidify my career in this industry. i train seven days a week and i train kids on the varsity high school level free every sunday due to financial issues. i have a passion for training not only kids but athletes period. i know that with success comes service to others and i can appreciate what you’re doing for people like myself, just giving an opportunity to be better. i’m a husband and father of two boys but i’m also responsible in giving back to the kids out there who need a great male model in there life and sports are the only thing keeping them out of trouble or being hurt. so give me the opportunity to start with this certification, because i want to be great at what i do, but i also want give my best to all that i encounter. if i can’t be the greatest i want to be one of them. thanks.

Brian,

I deserve the Speed Certification because I am committed to serving the population of youth that is not necessarily inclined to sports and teach them the value of being fit. To recognize that we are all athletes to some degree, even though it may not be in organized sports. My goal is to teach them to be able to do whatever it is they enjoy doing well. Even if they are the kids who enjoy TV, reading, video games, etc. more than playing outside, riding bikes, going camping…at some point in their life they are going to have to run, pick up something heavy, walk a long distance, and they deserve to know how to do it right and do it well.

Speed training is a skill that can be taught just like balance or strength. The youth deserve to be taught properly and I want to learn from the best.

September 30, 2009
John Mrowicki

I think that I deserve this to program and certification because through my entire coaching experience from little league through pop warner, I have always tried to teach the kids the importance of doing things the right way. But , in the same breathe frustated that many parents didn’t see it that way at all. I got into persaonal training to make a difference and with this program I beleive i can. There are so many people in my area that do things the wronfg way and I would like to correct that. Being a single father sometimes it gets tough at times to afford a grreat program like this but this is a once in a life time opportunity. And to end this I would like to say that my teaching the kids the right way to do things but still hsave fun doing it will carry over into what they do in life. Work hard play hard and do the right things wiull get you far in life. Thanks in advance for this oppportunity.

September 30, 2009

Hello Brian! There are three reasons you should consider me for your Speed and Agility certification giveaway:

1) I support the concept and mission of the IYCA. I have been a CSCS since 2006, yet I recently submitted my IYCA Level I exam (with Level II to follow) because I have seen too many coaches train 7- and 8-year-olds as if they were “little adults,” making the kids’ chosen sport more work, less fun, and potentially dangerous. I recognize the value of a credential in helping those coaches look at youth training in a new way.

2) The certification will help me teach my players vital skills more effectively. I am the Strength and Conditioning Coach for a high school hockey team. As I’m sure you know, speed and agility are essential components of hockey. I can use what I learn from you, Lee, and the others involved in bringing us this certification to train them more effectively and more appropriately. As my players graduate from high school hockey into college- or Junior-level hockey, they will bring what I’ve taught them forward into those programs.

3) I can give the IYCA widespread exposure where I live. In my immediate geographic area there are multiple youth hockey programs, beginning at age 5. The rink at which we play is across the street from a multi-field baseball/softball facility, and within 10 minutes of two others. My own city opened a 96-acre, $36 million soccer complex just this year, so the market for youth sports is huge, even in recessionary times. That is a lot of parents I can get IYCA-based principles in front of, and we haven’t even talked about football yet.

I hope you agree that this investment in me will be extremely worthwhile for you. Thanks for your consideration.

Brian,
There are so many people who would deserve this opportunity to get this free certification. I am certified with the IYCA for your Level 1 specialist, but I do not get paid to be a personal trainer. I am a mom of four who home-schools and coaches her kids in recreational sports. I have been volunteering my time for the past 14 years coaching kids from 5-18 in soccer and basketball. Even when I was pregnant or just had a baby, I was out there coaching them and forming relationships with these wonderful kids. My hope is that in the near future I’ll be able to start working with kids on athletic development. I’m not in this to make a lot of money…I just want to pass along my passion for athletics and teach kids how to move properly in order to avoid injury so they can continue playing and having fun. I would use this information in order to reach the many coaches, parents, and kids in our rec. programs who don’t have top notch coaches, but who are parents that just want to be involved in their kids’ lives. Thanks Brian for all you do. You have taken a stand against our culture and you have not compromised. Continue to stand firm.

I don’t deserve it, but would like to tell you where I am coming from. I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy, CSCS from the NSCA, and have passed the Youth Fitness Specialist Level I certification through your organization. I spend 75% of my time doing “traditional” physical therapy on all ages. My desire and heart are with young people and athletes. I spend about 10% going to local schools teaching ACL injury prevention, which is working. We have had 1 non contact ACL tear in 3 years. A local college (D III) has had 5 in a month. I am with you completely on deceleration training for this reason alone. The last 2 summers we have started speed training camps with modest results. I am really trying to encourage my company to press harder in this direction and feel this program would really help. P.S. I am typing this one handed holding one of my 9 week old twins. I am also looking to progress in my career for her and my other 3 children.

Thanks for your time.

Dear Brian,

I’m very enthousiastic about your Speed & Agility program and I would like to be able to be there next monday but I live and work in Greece as a track’n'field trainer and as a High school gymnastic teacher.

I really want to improve my knowledge on training as I want to help my athletes improving their skills.

I used to train some of the best athletes in Greece in small ages 14-18 years old(now professional athletes in Athens) I live in Drama,Macedonia,North Greece.
eg. I now train the best Greek girl athlete 14-years-old on 300m running.

I understand that you can help me. The question is how.

I am aware that the best practise for me would be to watch some of your speed camps but as I say it’s difficult for me.

Greetings from Greece

Brian,
It is with great excitement that I write this request for your free speed certification. I have been a high school and college coach and now teach physical education at an urban charter school. I have always worked with kids who are typically from a disadvantaged background and have helped get many of these athletes to college and on to a better life. Most of the athletes that I have worked with and trained do so at no cost. They can’t afford the training that most of the kids in the suburbs ALL pay for, so I train them for what they can afford. This is often nothing. I am always looking for the most up to date techniques to share with my students. I am hoping that the information I would learn from this certification can be shared with all of my students so that they will be playing on an equal playing field with the kids over the hill. Thanks for your consideration.

I have worked with alot of kids on speed and agility out here is southwest kansas. The talent levels are alot lower than they are in the bigger city. There isn’t many people out here that work with kids. I have bought your program trying to learn what I can and have also bought Latiff Thomas program. Many times I will work with kids for free just to help them but would love to be able to have the extra knowledge to be able to run a full camp and charge. I am working off of my knowledge from when I ran in college in the late 70’s. Please help me out, thank you, Kent Knoll Holcomb Ks.

Good morning Mr. Grasso & Taft,

Las Vegas has been called one of the worst places to raise a family. After living here for the last 6 years, I began losing interest in being someone that worked selfishly for my own pride. A place like this will make anyone with passion come alive. My background is as a sports conditioning trainer, minor league pro athlete, and a 10 year career as a health & fitness specialist. My son has autism and awaken my senses to provide more services. I have gathered a staff together and began a ground breaking project to this county. The reason why I would like your Speed Specialist certification, is because there are 4 certifications that I require them to obtain to work at Knockout Training, Inc. To provide this communities youth what they deserve– my trainer have to study 2 IYCA certifications. Everyone who works in the facility, I require to at least have your Youth Fitness Specialist Level I certification. I believe after watching your videos, studying your certifications and testing, there is no better way to show passion within this business and still make a living.

Hello Mr. Grasso

I am very impressed that you have this offer going. I’m a big fan of the the educational material that yourself and Lee Taft have had over the years.

The reason why I think I deserve the free Speed and Agility Certification is numerous. First and foremost I was a physical education teacher at a charter school here in Los Angeles. Back in May I received a pink slip stating that my services were no longer needed due to the budget cuts. At that time I was in the middle of starting my youth training program in which I already had a basketball training element. After getting certified through the IYCA as a Youth Conditioning Specialist I wanted to began training young athletes using the methods that you outlined in that certification along the Complete Athletic Development material. Due to my lack of disposable income at this time, it would be extremely difficult to actually purchase the S & A certification.

Currently I work as a walk-on high school basketball coach at West Torrance High School and I would immediately implement the material with the program and I was also utilize it in my private training programs. I would do whatevers needed to get my hands on the information. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

As a coach, its difficult to motivate all the players on your team, and even more challenging to help them develop an intrinsic motivation. The nature of sport is exclusive: the best players play. This leaves many an athlete to conclude and interpret for themselves, if I don’t play, I am therefore no good. Unfortunately, this attitude transcends sport, and the athelete often adopts this as true evaluation of themselves as well. This is worse in my sport, football, where we practice so much, and play so little. Having the expertise to deliver to each athlete a tangible, measurable change–in this case in their speed–gives them something real to take away from the sport experience and can serve to spur them on to challenge the starters, be vulnerable, risk failure, develop courage, and not allow subjective decisions to so negatively impact self esteem. For me, this opportunity is a golden gift, one that will help me help them help themselves–a gift for every athelete I’ll coach, a gift that will give them a different measure to evaluate success, and a lesson that will serve them outside the world of sport.
Thank you in advance for this tremendous blessing.

JMY

I believe I should win the Speed Certificate to prove to myself that your marketing can work. If you can get me to sell then you have a product that is amazing because in all truth I can’t sell. I did the Personal Training and I could train but I could not sell. I can talk to people in the 3 months I talked to over 70 people but the selling I was never trained just told. If your product is what you say then it should be as easy as implementing and then the product will sell itself. Thank you so much for the chance to win, Lana.

I have been training athletes in a gym atmosphere for 7 years. I am finally trying to opened my own business, not to get out of the gym facilities atmosphere, but to give kids and adults a option to have training offered to them without having to pay for a membership and training. I mostly train young athletes (middle school – high school), which has been a passion of mind since my kids playing Optimist Football. I volunteer still today my coaching skills to all optimist football teams that need my help. Now that my son is going to school for the same passion of training athletes, I would like to have my own business up and running by the time they are done with school.

This certification would mean so much to me but most importantly to my athletes who I have a responsibility to. There are many different facilities (which the trainers have more certifications) in my area that are larger and have the tools, but with that comes very high prices that most kids in my area can’t afford. I would like to offer those kids the same chance that everyone else has (parents who have lots of money) at a more reasonable price so they can have the same chance to pursue there dreams in what ever sport they love. I am a certified trainer (ACSM, NASM, and NESTA), but this one would push me to the next level of training.

I have followed your certifications (IYCA) for the past couple years and have join your newsletter. You have helped me a lot to grow as a youth trainer, I know this certification will help my all the kids in my area grow as well.

Thanks for your consideration

I am a coach that is responsible for training high school and college level athletes. I am the exact person that you were referring to when you made the comment about how your knowledge is not a reflection of how much success one can have in this business. I am also the person that you were referring to when you mentioned that a point may come where one has to consider exploring other oprions to earn a living. I am not a seller. I am a speed/strength coach. Please help me find a reason to continue in what I love most and what I do best.

I would love to receive your Speed Certification because I am commited to providing quality athletic development information and resources to my community. There is a massive market and need for training programs and education for youth coaches. I have begun an ACL injury prevention program and integrating the speed development principles and methods that you and Lee offer will be extremely valuable. To give you a feel for what my intention is for my youth training business, here are the mission and vision statements:

Mission
To implement a complete athletic development system including integrated sustainable strategies, functional training methods and the highest quality programs for youth athletes while drawing on community sports medicine and wellness resources, in order to reduce incidence of injury, improve performance and contribute to career longevity of youth athletes.

Vision
To contribute to a culture of responsible athletic development by providing scientific, comprehensive training programs while creating a bridge between the athletic community, professional performance coaching and community healthcare resources. The result will be parents, athletes, coaches, club administration, performance coaches, sports medicine professionals, sports dietitians and sports massage specialists all in communication in order to provide the most comprehensive care, training and recovery resources possible.

Thanks for your committment to the youth athletic community.

I don’t. I don’t deserve anything that I don’t earn or pay for in some way. I’m not sure why you would want to give anything away as it seems to devalue the worth. Is there a parameter where we agree to give away one free membership per month, class, or year to pay forward? I don’t believe in free lunches, but paying forward is interesting?

Hello Brian how are you?

This is a wonderful opportunity to bless those who are passionate about what they do. My name is Cedrick and I have been teaching, coaching, and mentoring athletes for nine years. I am a full time Physical Education teacher. My partner and I just started a faith based sports performance training program last year called The Complete Athlete LLC. We started with no money, no space, and no equipment. God has blessed us with a partnership to a place where we can reach disadavanteged youth and small college athletes who have dreams of getting a college scholarship or playing professional sports. We serve as mentors to help lead them and guide them in the way they ought to go in regards to character, academics, and training. This certification will give us a wealth of knowledge to set up a proven program that the athletes can learn and foster ownership in knowing they are being trained the right way. This will be a HUGE blessing in helping us to meet the needs of the people who may not have the funds. As we continue to be blessed, we look forward to blessing you and others as well. Thank you for your hospitality!

Peace,

Coach Ced

I greatly appreciate your consideration for the certification. I personally do not deserve the program anymore than the next guy/girl, however, I do believe that the young men/women I am involved with deserve the very best training and guidance I can provide to them. I am not seeking the certification for any type of monetary profit. What I will gain is the peace of mind knowing that I am giving the youth a beneficial program that they carry with them the rest of their lives.

Hi Brian,

I am a 26 year old rugby coach from Sri Lanka. I played rugby till I was 20 and was never naturally gifted as an athleate. Ever since I started coaching from the age of 21 I have had this desire to find out the reason people are faster and stronger compared to less gifted athleates.

I always believed if you are one of the faster men on the fiell you can do anything, and can players who are trained correctly reach speed that they thought they could nver reach.

In my last five years I have visited hundreds of websited but am still unable to find the exact method of training a person to reach his or her speed potential. I come from a country where there is not much education on conditioning and also cant afford to go abroad to learn about it.
My only way is through the internet but with the information overload I tend to get more confused than anything.

I would love to follow this course, so that it will help me learn what is truly needed to become a faster athleate

Dear Brian,

I am in need of a vehicle that can allow me to make enough money to stay in our industry.
I have been devastated in this economy, to the point of losing my home and having clients drop off like flies.
I have been an Athlete since I was age 7, (AAU T&F) Have an AA & BA in Physical Education. Have had many certs through the years, a very good Holistic Health Practice in San Diego at one time. (Even had Paul Check as a Client:))
I have paid to get the IYCA cert, have not done the testing, as my stress increased while facing divorce. I do Intend to Complete that, as well as enrolling in the PTA Global Cert. Program that you are a part of.
I have worked with Athletes of all ages, all the way to Pro levels. I have been a WNBF Pro Natural Bodybuilder, and understand the dedication that it takes to Achieve!
Thank-You for Your Consideration ahead of time!

In Great Health,

Suzanne Hamilton, BA, HHP, MPT, CSNS

I don’t know if I can honestly say I deserve this, I want it yes but deserve it, that I can not say.

You have given the industry so much and for that we all owe you a great and heart felt thank you.

I am a level one Youth fitness Specialist, I was fortunate enough to attend your seminar afew years ago here in Illinois.

My business is not doing well as you said in this email I am responding to, I am starting to consider options, to provide for my family.

Why do I want this system?

I have got to give fitness coaching as much effort as I can before I pack it in, and I’m honestly trying to figure out where I belong in the industry.

One on One training is not working as well as it has in the past.

I love being with kids, probably because (as my wife will tell you) I still am one at heart.

I need the guidance that a program like this can offer me, but I do not have the funding to be able to purchase it.

I know you will be overwhelmed with responses to this offer, so whoever you decide to give it to will be very lucky indeed.

Thanks again Brian

A lifelong athlete (and retired Marine) who has coached his oldest son to success in the initial demands of his own Marine Corps career I am now refocusing my efforts to my younger children (7 and 4) who have their own goals. The daughter (7) wants not only to be a gymnast, but also wants to remain the fastest student in her grade level. I’m tapping into my own high school track roots and am continuing to appreciate all that has been learned and readily available since my 100 yd and 440 relay days.

Along the way I have finding a new personal fitness goal, to compete in Master’s Track events. Retiring from the military, I no longer am ‘required’ to run the middle distances and walk even further (with a lot of weight) and find refreshing a new physical challenge for myself. Tapping into a lifetime of physical activity and continuing to compete and sharing that beyond the circle of my immediate family is a way to continue what the Corps taught me, Lead by Example.

Brian

Why I deserve this? Unsure if I deserve this but I do know that I share your passion for the development of youth. It has been an obsession of mine for the last 10 years reseaching, experimenting and going against the norm in trying to implement inovative ideas such as kids actually having fun and becoming better movers. The hockey world up here in Alberta isn’t always open to such ideas as off athletic development training, not joining a league, practicing on game days, team building, motivational sessions, goal setting, leadership sessions, etc.
All I know Brian is that the seminar last year in Louisville was extremely motivational and further encouraged me to pursue my dream. Regardless of whether or not I deserve this or not thank you for the movement towards enjoyment, passion and athletic development in our youth. Since I have 5 children I really appreciate what you have done to date and what I have learned from you. Take care and you have yourself a GREAT DAY!

Brain, what a great opportunity for all of us who read your site and attempt to work some of your ideas into our own. I work with athletes of different ages, levels and events. I attempt to incorporate most of your teachings within my work outs. I would love to have the whole package at my disposal. I know the athletes would benefit even more if I was able to take it to the next level. I have printed the information many times to purchase your certification but price has stopped me. Thank you for this opportunity. C. Johnson

Hi Brian,

Thank you for this opportunity. I started this business four years ago because I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. I believe that it has been a calling more than anything. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work along side my collegue and friend Joshua Ortegon here at Athlete’s Arena where we put our clients first. This does not always go over well with coaches and sometimes parents but a kids or mature athlete’s future is more important than trying to save face for a couple extra bucks. We are inching closer to our 100th scholarship athlete we have aided in getting to the next level. I expect the best out of the people I work with and it is my hearts desire to give them the best and simplest answers on how to get better. Cueing and technique explanation with excitement is easy for me. I want to become better at it so my clients can grasp it better, begin to master their skills faster and see the rewards from their great results. You guys have been in the game and worked with every personality imaginable. I would like to absorb what you have and institute it into our programming and hopefully see a lot of light bulbs go off in our clients heads.

Thanks again,
Shane Miller NSCA-CPT

I feel that the greatest commodity we have in this country is our kids. Because of this there should be an investment in time to properly train them. At one time I had the means to afford to pay for training systems. However, with my job loss all I could do is surf the internet and find the best videos or articles for the training. Being a soccer coach has given me a thrist for more effective training guides. I do not have the money but I have the patience and the time to implement a good traing program.

Thank you for your time

Just the word Youth in the IYCA has opened the eyes of some parents. I am kind of a big fish in a small pond. I have trained for over 15 years and the kids are still the same. They are a blank slate with an I know everything attitude. My knowledge plus Brian’s approach has allowed me to partner with the parents to stabilize their kids attention and focus. The speed certificate will allow me to reach a greater audience even though I am in a small community. I have the number 1 tennis program in the state but they still have to travel to compete against larger populations and it’s a wake up call.. It’s not about income I relocated from Las Vegas and did well training to leave and bring up my little ones in a better surrounding. It’s now about giving the kids here knowledge and a competitive chance that is in larger populated cities. I wish you all the shot at knowledge and the energy to apply it……

Hello Brian, first, thank you for the opportunity to access some priceless information. I have been part of the IYCA for some time now. People like yourself, Eric Chessen, Tony Reynolds, and countless others, keep me coming back for life long learning. Long story, short, I became a father of 2 very quickly back in 2004, my kids are only 9 months apart in age :) I was completing my MS in Exercise Science and working full time, ever since my time has been scarce, if non existent. Recently my hours have been cut, and I have been unable to keep up my IYCA membership online. I hope to sign back up soon, hell, I’ll probably purchase this program asap even if I don’t win, but would greatly appreciate this opportunity to complement the YFS 3, Thanks, Matt

Are you kidding me? This is incredible!

One of my best college buddies, who played football at Kansas State University, is now the Offensive Coordinator for Blinn Junior College in Brenham, TX. That is about 30 miles down the road from me in College Station, TX, home to the Texas A&M Aggies.

He came up to recruit last Friday evening and I went to the local high school football game with him. He and I were not only watching the outstanding athleticism, but discussing our plans to improve our Summer Sports Speed Camp.

Then all of a sudden it happened.

The starting quarterback, blew out his ACL. Done for the season. As I sat next to his Mother, who is a friend and a client, I watched her anguish as she realized her only son’s playing career was over.

I turned to my friend and said, “that happens too much these days, you know. They’re just not in the right condition.”

I spoke with Dylan, the former HS quarterback the next day and he told me that he had been in great condition. That he could almost squat and deadlift as much as anyone on the O-Line could.

I asked him what else he had done for conditioning. He said, “I jogged a lot this summer.”

Now I know the Chris and I are going to ramp up our Speed, Conditioning and Injury Prevention Camp this summer to a new, different and more passionate level.

Dylan should be still be the starting quarterback this Friday night.

Brian,
I am a sprinter at Brandeis University and I am one of those athletes who studies running as a science instead of just as a sport. I am always looking for any good information I can get my hands on to improve my personal knowledge so I can help myself in training as well as teammates I train with. In addition I plan to help coach track at local high schools on breaks and coach on my own after graduation. Any information I could get, especially from such a respected program, would be extremely valuable to me.

Brian,
I live in a bit of a remote area (Helena, MT). Change is slow to happen around here. I work at the local hospital as a Physical Therapist Assistant. With the help of the hospital and the co-operation of some local trainers I have been trying to introduce some programs focused on injury prevention and performance enhancement for the young athletic population here. The chance to recieve your Speed and Agility Certification as well your help with running successful camps would be a Godsend for us as getting the kids out for our programs as been very challenging.
Thank you for offering this,

I have gotten involved in the fitness industry as a professional after raising two wonderful children. I have always been a fitness fanatic, but I decided to turn that into a career. I enrolled at a local college. I have completed the Exercise Phys., Biomechanics, Kinesiology, etc. classes that have helped to prepare me to be the best trainer that I can be. While doing my internship, I had the privelege of working with a group of 9th grade students. I saw all four types of young people in that class…the high motivated/high skilled, high motivated/low skilled, low motivated/high skilled, low motivated/low skilled. I saw the enthusiasm of those that were high skilled/high motivated as they attempted to bring out the best in the rest of their classmates. They high fived a failed attempt, but at least gave “kudos” for the attempt. All of the young people in that class were such an inspiration to me and I decided that I wanted to focus most of my training on young people. I am currently waiting with much excitement as my exam is graded and I will have my certification in hand. With that certification, I will be able to work on the first of what I hope is many group training classes for youngsters at my new place of employment.

I want to gain the knowledge to be a top youth fitness professional in my area. I have seen many of my childrens friends go through painful operations because they were not prepared and trained properly in their sport/activity. I also want to pull in clients that are not involved in a sport or activity, but need to have some sort of physical activity to help them to learn to be healthy adults.

I can see this certification benefitting not only the sports athlete, but the children that are involved in other activities, such as dance. It’s not just the sports athlete that needs to learn the how to accelerate/decelerate/twist and turn during a given activity, but dancers are at great risk from injury because they do not have this knowledge/training. There are many doors that can be opened with the Youth Fitness Specialist certification and the Speed and Agility certification. I hope to be one holding that door open for many young people in the future.

Firstly Brian your work is outstanding. You definately have the art of mixing quality training methods with sound business skills downpact.
Living in New Zealand I am always trying to get my hands on quality professional development tools, which organisations like the IYCA provide.
I really want to learn how I can run effective speed camps and as Alwyn Cosgrove would say ‘become top of mind awareness’ in my area my for youth speed development.

Brian and Lee,
I am a physical Education teacher and YFS ll with the IYCA. I was a golf pro in a former life, but decided I had a passion for teaching kids. I ran succesful golf and athletic development camps and did pretty good. However, it became a numbers game ( in a positive way, not financial). I figured out I can see and impact way more kids in the school systyms as opposed to a private business. I see 300 plus kids every day as a middle school Physical Education teacher. I love it and it has been the best decision in my career. I do not make the money I used to, but who cares. Having an impact on these kids every day is awesome. I would say 95% of what I teach comes via the information I have learned from your organizations. Keep up the great work.

Sincerely,
Gary Kilgore

I coach multiple sports (hockey, lacrosse, soccer, track, mountain bike) at varying levels from age specific to high performance and all of my athletes need speed development. My athletes are also multi-sport athletes and they are still not getting the adequate speed training from thier other sports. I have a huge desired to build the foundation of the athletes in my region so they can excell at any sport they choose, whether it be the one I am coaching them in or another the participate in.

September 30, 2009

Hello Brian,

Since becoming a IYCA member, it has opened my eyes on the difference of being a trainer vs. a coach. I believe I’m a great trainer, but would like to become a much better coach/mentor. I still will always have much to learn on both fronts. I write a monthly parent fitness challenge every month for a online magazine called; Today’s Teen: A parent resourse Magazine”, as well as write a monthly article for my local paper. I talk a lot about our state of affairs when it comes to our youth. I admit, I am having my challenges as a fitness professional. I recently let go of my studio, because I just wasn’t making it. I held on for as long as I could, Probably too long. You live, you learn. I now am working for a new facility in my area, that has a 2000 sq ft 4 lane running track room. I’m looking for stability and I do not want to become one of the statistics of another trainer that packed it in. I want to become a better coach and trainer to kids and adults alike. I have put together a program called SPRINT= Speed, Persistence, Reaction, Intensity (name of the club), Natural Training; a globally athletic developmental type class for kids and adults. I know the only way to learn is to be out their in the field. I have made many mistakes, and want to learn from them. I love what I learn form the IYCA, and to learn from one of the best speed guys, in Lee Taft, would be tremendous. I wish I could have made the seminar this past year with you guys. I’m not giving up on my career. Sometimes you have to zig and zag a bit in order to move forward. I thank you and everyone in the organization from the bottom of my heart for your inspiration and guidance the IYCA has provided.
All the best. To Our Youth!

September 30, 2009

Brian and Lee,

I believe a unique opportunity to effect character development of young people exists because of the emerging field of speed and agility training. As children age, many of them tune out the voices they hear regularly if for no other reason than familiarity. This can include their parents, teachers, and even their school sports coaches. Regrettable, but a part of human nature I suppose.

As a fresh, credible outside voice, I have witnessed time and again the eagerness of young athletes to tune in to what I have to tell them about making the most of their athletic ability. This is no mystery – they want to get better, perform better, feel better about themselves. When they believe I can help take them to those places and feelings, they become sponges, soaking up everything I can pass along. This is a humbling position to find oneself in, and I do not take the responsibility lightly. I choose to see it as a gift and an opportunity to infuse self-efficacy, belief and enthusiasm into my athletes, along with a healthy dose of strength, speed and injury resistance.

I have a great system in place at Sport Speed Austin, but it needs to evolve, and always will. I believe what you and Lee have to offer can help me make that happen. If you don’t give it to me, I’m not afraid to tell you that I’ll buy it.

In health,

K…here it goes…#1 I will take your complete training course for youth…this month or next…. but primarily….
I am trying to change the culture at a major gym franchise nationwide and I have managers that also are willing to help me do so… I am located in Madison wi. and we are working to get a 44,000 sq, foot facility which will dedicate 4-5 thousand feet of space to functional and speed training similar to a Santana or Boyle type of facility (catering to youth and collegiate/pro athlete functional and speed training…)the franchise? Golds Gym! I need to be successfull as possible bringing functional and speed training as I can (that means profitable), so they (the owners) can bring it Nationally to 8 of their franchised facilities…and if it goes well from there….exponential growth….for all ……

Brian,
It is not so much that I feel I deserve a free certification more than anyone, but that I feel my students and the small community here deserves the same opportunities as do the larger communities.
I started coaching track & field 5 years ago when I began teaching at our school of 100 students. I had 3 athletes that first year. After 3 years of not making any significant gains I read every article and newsletter I could find concerning training and fitness. I paid for programs and subscriptions from out of my own pocket so that my athletes might have a better chance. I soak up everything you put out for us for free!
I believe your influence helped our team grow to 7 athletes in my 4th year, when my boys JV Team (all 3 of them!) won the League title against much bigger teams. Last year, in my 5th year as coach, we had 14 athletes! All of them qualified for the Section Meet. Six of them went on to the next level (just below state). This was the first time in 10 years our school had anyone make it!
I am also in my 3rd year as Head Coach for football. Last year was the 1st time in 5 years that we made it to the play-offs. This year we expect to win not just the League title, but the Division title as well. Why I bring these things up is because you have had a major influence in my coaching which has led to lower injuries, greater participation and increased overall athletic abilities.
I have desired to receive the IYCA certification since I first read about it, but I don’t have the funds as I put anything I can into equipment and safety needs of our football and track teams. And now, I have younger kids who are looking up to our athletes, wanting to start training as soon as possible. They have no one to turn to locally. The community wants assurance that their child’s trainer is competent, skilled and, mostly, has their child’s best interests in mind. I have been able to create fun, safe, winning teams and am receiving some recognition (such as Track Coach of the Year for our League). Still, our community deserves to have the best for their children. I believe the IYCA certification is the key to giving credibility to my programs and providing the highest quality training available.

In my area there are a few companies that do speed training on an individual basis. I am one that wants to be set apart for them. This will give me a chance to tap into some potential that is virtually unknown. All the info I gather form Brian, Lee, Latif and Pat has been very helpful in building on my current knowledge base in the sports performance industry.

This certification and the business development info is one that no other performance coach has nor inspire to obtain, they would want to know where to get the information and I will refer them to IYCA for the most comprehensive youth speed and agility certification on the market.

Hi Brian, thank you for your concern and work with today’s youth, such need there. Your training is such as “Who” wouldn’t want the opportunity to advance their training program with IYCA’s training certification. Well why I need it is because I have worked with Senior citizen’s and most if not all things are “slooooow” not speedy. And I am beginning to take on some of those characteristics; So i want to spend more time with younger kids to get back the speed, agility and just plain ol fun. Kids laugh upto 300x’s per day and adults they say maybe 25-30. Get me to those kids.
Thank you.

Brian,

Thanks for the opportunity to receive your program for free. As a elementary school teacher and a community coach I have been involved with a number of kids. At times I don’t think I did a good enough job preparing them to continue playing as them move up the sports ladder. This program would give me a chance to broaden my skills and that of my athletes/students.

I often see kids left off of team and eventually leave sports all together because they do not have some fundamental skills. I believe this program could equip those kids with enough skill and speed to allow them to start playing or continue playing and thereby get all the benefits of being involved in sport. As coaches we sometimes focus on the elite few that we coach but we need to remember that there are number of kids who will not move on but benefit none the less from being associated with physical activities and sports. With the predicted health problems of child hood obesity we would do well to keep all kids playing something. This program may be able to give kids the confidence to continue playing.

Thanks in advance.

Albert

Hey guys,

Having a chance to own a blueprint of yours and Lee’s speed camp system would be something that I myself have been trying hard to do for many years and definetly without the success. I feel that my knowledge of strength and conditioning and even the business and marketing aspect is very solid but it has not put me in a position of being successful. My reputation is very good but I need the opportunity such as yours to really propel me… and believe me that makes me excited!

My passion is training kids and older athletes to really develop into fluid, strong, quick and fast athletes. It is so cool to get kids that are slow, immobile and weak and develop them into strong and fast athletes. In my area, there is a desperate need for the speed tools that Lee Taft possesses. I have tried many times to get the local coaches to get on the same page as me as far developing athletes. They listen and get excited but don’t follow through. However, I know with the system the two of you have implemented, I would break through those barriers and believe me it will be a long time coming .

Thank you for your time,
Andy Ford

Please give your free certificate to someone else. I teach but not for money. All the help I donate is without charge; parents (mostly) just ask me for input when they see me training at the track. As an example, I ,at 59 years old, was out sprinting a local NHL pro hockey player, and he wanted to know some of my training techniques. Thanks anyway………………….Marty

Bryan Lanham

Dear Brian,

First of all I want to say thank you for everything you do. I believe that you are in this business for all the right reasons and you are to be commended for that. I attended the IYCA conference in Louisville last winter and it felt more like a family reunion than a conference.

I used to be ‘Bryan Lanham’ fitness trainer, but now I’m ‘Bryan Lanham, Payton (8 yrs. old) and Brooklyn’s (5 yrs. old) dad. That’s probably better than anything.

As a dad I realize that my time with my daughters at home is quickly passing. I want to spend time with them and teach them the skills that they need in order to be successful in life.

I work with kids on a daily basis. I consider it a blessing and privilege to do so. I consider those kids to be part of my family. It is my duty to equip them w/ the best training possible. Their parents and coaches trust that I will deliver ‘world class’ workouts. And that is exactly what a certification like this will enable me to do.

So while I don’t necessarily think that I am any more deserving than any other trainer, I know that the kids I work with deserve the best of the best.

To be able to work with kids and make a difference in their lives is the best job in the world. Thank You for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Bryan

If there is one thing that I truly don’t like to do it’s justifying myself or explaining why I deserve something. I say this because I am a firm believer that how I conduct myself and how live my life should speak louder than any words I could put on paper. So instead of telling you why I deserve a free certification, I would like to tell you a little about myself and where my heart is toward youth fitness. I am 23 years old and I have worked with kids since I was 15. I have done everything from afterschool clubs to swim lessons to being a youth coach. Not once in my short 8 year career did I have anyone help me or teach me how I can be a better teacher for the kids that I taught. Then four months ago I had the pleasure of being apart of an iyca conference in Chicago and throught it I had the opprotuniy to hear Brian Grasso with his passion and wisdom. It cost about 150 dollars but for the first time I finally had someone (the iyca) to challenge and teach me how to be better. It was worth every penny. I have already seen benifits in the youth that I have had the pleasure if working with. I have become sold on the iyca one hundred percent and I am willing to do anything to increase my knowlegde and my skills. I have Read the buzz and I have seen the videos online about this new speed certification. I am so excited at the opprotuniy to learn even for from two of the industries best. I have passion, integrity, and a desire to learn. I can’t wait to get my hands on this material!

September 30, 2009

I have been working with the youth for years, mainly hockey players, since i have been into hockey my whole life, my daughter is now big into track and field, I would like to learn more about speed training for my daughter and to take my knowledge to the next level, so I can spread my training out further than hockey. Thank you.

Working with young athletes is something I am privileged to be able to do. Watching an athlete go from having little knowledge and stumbling over them self, to having the skills they need in order to achieve their goals and dreams is something almost impossible to put into words. The more I can learn about empowering our youth with knowledge they need in order to become a better athlete through the correct coaching techniques and methods would increase the self confidence and drive our youths have to wards sports. The IYCA training certification would help anyones dreams of becoming a better coach a reality. The giving away of this certification would help not only me but everyone I would come in contact with. I believe in our youth, in teaching them the correct way. I believe in the IYCA.

I am a football coach who started a football program 4 years ago at a school that has less then 150 kids. We are in our 2nd year of varisty and it has been tough. Our kids are playing hard, working hard, showing great class, but simply are getting out matched in every phase of the game. I owe it to them to have the most knowledge in every aspect of not only being a football player but also an athlete. If they are willing to lay it on the line, despite the challenges, I need to give them the best chance to compete. I want that for them. I do not need this training to go make money, I need it to give my athletes the best chance to be able to compete. They deserve that from me. I need your help

i find this programme most suitable for me because where i live and originate from in Nigeria is blessed with natural sprinters(Seun Ogunkoya,Kayode Oluyemi,Olusoji Fasuba etc.) with a high population of pes cavus in the society.I believe the right techniques from this certification will not only help produce more sprinters and ultimately more world beaters and also improve speed in other sports personnel in other sporting disciplines

Hi. I am one of only 4 qualified YFS trainers in South Africa. I have invested in the Brian’s Complete Athlete Development as well as Lee’s Athletic Speed Formula. These products together with the courses I have received from the IYCA have been of the highest standard and have enabled me to become a much more complete coach.

Since I do not have a degree in sports science I have found that people tend to not believe in what you say. That is until the see the players performing. I have been looking forward to this Speed certification. I could have done a speed course available in South Africa but have waited and would rather have a speed certification developed by the IYCA, Lee and Brian.

The speed certification will be a perfect addition to my current YFS Lev2 qualification. I was also profiled in Lee’s newsletter.

Dear Coach Grasso and Coach Taft;
few coaches work with as wide a variety of athlete as I do. I work with underprivileged Special Education population, underprivileged General education population, and, most recently, at risk youth at a citywide DOE suspension site in the South Bronx, New York. It is an honor to work with these various and wide ranging populations in basketball and tennis through several organizations. I have taken numerous USTA recreation tennis workshops and even recently procured the USTA High Performance Tennis information (from another coach because the USTA refused to even sell me this information despite several requests and proposals). I feel that my underpriviliged youth populations deserve the same high quality information and expert instruction as other more fortunate populations have readily available to them. I believe information and education should be made available to those who have the world class passion (maybe not world class talent or world class wealth) to be the very best they can be. I honestly believe both of you represent what is good and honorable in coaching and that you would want the populations that I serve to have this information, to discover the techniques that create blazing, injury free speed, success and fun on inner city recreational basketball and tennis courts respectively. Furthermore, I am your greatest ambassador and student. I believe in your intelligent progressions, designs and the simple brilliant logic behind your pedagogical coaching paradigm. I understand, like I believe you both do, that the greatest gift or truth of being a coach is the opportunity to be a teacher.

Thank you for reading this on behalf of all my athletes!

Sincerely yours,
William Beruh

I deserve this information because I plan to keep the ball of knowledge rolling, by that I mean; when given this wealth of information I will then put on Camps the same way the information was given to me ” For Free, no charge, or strings attached”. I am from the state of Mississippi, where we are sterotyped as the backwards state or the state left behind. Either because we continue to hold the title for “Americas Fattest State” or “Worst education and literacy”. I plan to break both stereotypes, with passionate community leaders behind me, I will do my part to help change my community, state and region, one lifestyle at a time. Many before me have tried but failed to impact many because of lack of knowledge, structure, and format.

I am currently working with a non-profit organization to bring to my community of Bay Saint Louis, MS; its first Kids Fit Camp. A place struck by the eye of the one of the worst Natural Disasters in American History. A place where the families, the kids, the community are strong willed, hard workers, passionate atheletes but just uneducated. Uneducated about nutrition, exercise, and fitness of which I am certified to handle under my “Certified Personal Trainer”, certification under the National Acedemy of Sports Medicine. I have trained under varies Speed and Agility programs, learning some things but not really locking in on technique, structure, and speed nuances and cues because I was already gifted with speed. Having acheived personal best in such measurable events such as 4.40 in the 40 yard dash, 6.59 in the L-drill, 3.99 in the short shuttle, and a best of 37 in the vertical jump.

I have excelled on all levels of sports high school, college and professional, now its time for me to pass the knowledge on, so others can progress faster and achieve more than I have. What better time to introduce such exclusive speed and agility secrets, as the ones that are going the be revealed than at a “Free Kids Fitness Camp”. Picture me raising awareness of the prevalent epidemic strangling our great state of Mississippi which is childhood obesity, then integrating various agility exercises and races while teaching basic movement mechanics and ways to increase your speed.

So not only will you be entrusting me with a wealth of knowledge, you will empower me to change to culture, mindset, and educational knowledge of all I reach on their “Need for Speed”. The passion, coachable mindset, and Performance basic knowledge I have, but I don’t want to give an average or even good camp. I want to give the best camp, to train the best you have o learn from the best. Help me be the best, empower me with the “Blueprint for Speed and Agility”.

Have a Great Day!!!

Hi Brian,
We met in Chicago at the Perform Better Summit, I did take your IYCA cert, which by the way I LOVE! The main reason I believe I should get this wonderful opportunity is that I work mainly as a Physical Therapist, rehabbing kids from middle school through high school with all sorts of instability injuries (non-contact), weight lifting and overuse injuries. I have the pleasure of training some of these kids outside the clinic both pre and post injury. The biggest obstacle I find is teaching them how to eccentrically control there bodies, which is why if I could teach them better acceleration tech. and proper foot and body positioning during take off. Then may be they will have a better understanding of why the deceleration part of training is so (most) important for avoiding injuries. The other reason I wish it have this certification is that I just recently (this week) open up my own business “Funktional Fitness LLC.” This would complement my services tremendously, and will hopefully assist me in my fight to prevent non contact injuries for our youths. I love treating the kids in my clinic but I am tired of seeing the same old stories, ” I just went out for a pass and my knee buckled.” Finally, energy conservation would be my last reason for wanting your great offer. I believe if I can teach the kids how to maintain an athletic posture during acc and decel. then they will conserve some energy, allowing them to play longer and safer!!

Thank you so much!

I think that to be a great trainer you have to continue educating yourself for varying age groups and varying degrees of exercise experience of clients. I also think that having a good catalog of training methods including what is considered normal and what is considered “not of the norm training modalities” depending on the wants and needs of your clients.

Nobody enters the fitness industry because they think they are going to be rich. But once you enter the fitness industry you are reminded quite quickly that you have to pay the bills. At that point your career in fitness (I use the term fitness to cover the broad spectrum of careers, from strength and conditioning to corporate fitness) you have to rely on your learned skills essentially operate your personal small business. This is a hard endeavor since in my experience my true education as a fitness professional began after I started working, not before, while in college. This usually leads to burn out and the aptly coined term “trainer-tainment”. Both burn out and trainertainment are reactions to keep your head above water financially not because the trainer/coach wants to suck, on the contrary we become trainers and coaches because we want to help others. We feel that we have an insight into our physical being that we can pass on to others because we have experience some level of intrinsic gratification from movement. I personally call this “the joy of movement”.

I deserve your speed certification because you contacted me. You need my help. The fact is that I am operating in California and Brain Grasso and Lee Taft can’t be everywhere. I have developed my system of speed training based on your and many other’s systems. But as this industry continues to evolve it is becoming more and more necceesary to share the key ingredients that produce what I call “physically well adjusted” humans. Being socially well adjusted is the primary goal of a psychologist but the less talked about goal of the trainer/coach is to produce people that are physically well adjusted. If we are going to continue to integrate sound movement principles into society we need to be congruent on the methods in which we approach our training protocols. The antithesis is to not share information and to propagate the ego-driven industry similar to the parent-coach mentality that make our kids a means to the parents ends.

Thank your for all your efforts. I admire your work. ~Joel Garcia

Darren Scott

Hey Brian,
This is Darren here from Galway in the Republic of Ireland. Ive thoroughly enjoyed watching many of the speed improvement drills. Trying to master them though is a different story all together! Ha. I started looking into speed training only a month or so back. I am 21 and I coach my local football (soccer) club here. Ballinasloe Under 16s and have had them since Under 14 level. There a great bunch of lads. The way I see it, speed is essential in building a winning team. Being faster means, being first to the cross, first to get the header in or out, first to a shooting opportunity etc. Ive gone on coaching courses over here to improve my coaching as I had no expierience before I took on this job, they dealth with the technical side of things such as passing, shooting, attack and defence etc, but not speed. I took up the job as nobody wanted to coach the team, and unfortunatly the team had been treated badly in most of the seasons previous. Which I was openly told by the other managers and the chairman. With no proper training or organisation for there matches they werent in great shape when I started off with them. Wrong attitudes and poor disipline also gave problems at first. But they’ve improved so much and I know they have the ability to win something this year.(We got to the final last year, but lost sadly) So thats why I want to be a better coach, not just for me, but for them. It might sound sad, but I absoloutely love coaching the team. Not to say its all brilliant. Theres always off days. But its mostly good. Still I want them to have the best coaching I can possibly give and there willing to learn as much as I am. I expect nothing less than 100% from my players and expect the same from myself. Wether or not you accept this, I will still continue to search for more and more ways to improve myself as a coach and as a person.

Yours Respectivly
Darren Scott

I have been a strength trainer for youth athletes for almost a decade since obtaining my CSCS cert. Working at a private Catholic high school, with a student body I strongly respect and admire, I have never done the job for the money, but rather to ensure my athletes don’t get injured on the field or during off-season training. While I can train athletes to safely perform even the most complex olympic lifts with perfection, I underperform when developing their speed. I have seen Lee Taft at speak at conferences, and have used his techniques with success. I have also followed the growth of the IYCA since its inception, but regrettably was unable to attend the certification at the Providence, RI Summit last Summer.

My goal with this certification is ultimately to better meet the needs of the students at my school (as well as my own sons, as selfish as that may sound). I hope to receive information to help facilitate the training of the large groups of students I could see on a given day. Watching the coaching points from Lee Taft on direction changes that have been posted over the past couple of days has been helpful toward this end. While the videos have energized me, I must admit that I am not likely to be able to afford an additional certification given the expenses associated with maintaining my CSCS and my Educator’s license. Should I be considered for this certification, it would most assuredly be put to great use.

I assist a wide area of player who will benefit from this newly acquired knowledge. Many of these player do not have the means to afford special training and that is where I come in. I have for many years allowed at no cost any players who cannot afford to pay to attend for free. I do this to assist the community and individuals to channel their energies into chasing their dreams instead of getting into trouble on the streets.

Hi Brian,

I’m one of those skeptical people, because of the world we live in. However, I’m very intrigued by your offer. I have read and listened to your training philosophies over this past year and say ‘Wow, there are other professionals out there like me!’ Your latest email included Lee Taft’s speed training video clip that really hit home for me. I have been struggling with the idea to order your speed and agility program, since I have a limited budget these past two months(decrease in clients). So I jumps out of my seat when I read your email today!! I would like to know the details in order to receive your speed training offer.

Brian, and the rest of the IYCA team,
I truly feel that I deserve this certification! First off, I love this
industry, especially youth fitness and sports training, to death! I have
put many, many hours into this industry and I wouldn’t change a thing
about that, except for not ever really having an effective system in
place. I assure you that I would follow your system word for word just
as you and your team have laid it out. I have been following you and
your organization for a couple of years now and I have been nothing
but impressed. I hope that I’ve gotten out how passionate I am about
this industry and what a privilege I feel it is helping kids who are
athletes as well as kids in general. I would like to take this to a more
personal level if that’s o.k. I am married with 3 kids of my own, 9, 13
and 15, and I have always tried to be a good role model for them and
believe that I have been. For several years now I have been side-
stepping my true purpose and passion in life, that as a coach and
trainer, to try and earn a living but not too successfully. I am no more
happy than when I am out there working with a group of kids teaching
them about being the best they can as an athlete and human being
through proper sports training, good healthy competition, developing
leadership skills and overall fitness training. I, like most trainers,
have had some success running speed camps and group training
sessions in general but, nothing like what I know it could be. I often
dream of doing this for a career and to not always be looking for
something else that may pay better or have more of a “secure” future
for me and my family that we can rely on. I also know that there is a
dire need for what we have to offer society and I would like to have
the right tools to make a lasting career and lasting impression on my
community while fulfilling this need. I want to spend the rest of my
life, and most likely will in one way or another, doing this type of
work. Like you have made me aware of in some of your past posts,
it’s not really work when you love what you are doing, and I love
working with these kids in these situations. Lastly, if I am selected
for this certification, not only will I give it 110% and I will represent the
IYCA as if it were my own organization with my name on the title. I
really can’t afford to purchase this or another certification right now
with 5 mouths to feed and not enough money at the end of the
month. I know the importance of the right certification in this industry
and know that the IYCA is it!!! I have over 20 years in this industry
and I want to spend the next 20 more successful than the last.
Thanks for your time and consideration with this and I truly
appreciate all of your e-mails with tons of valuable information, I feel
privileged to get those nuggets for just being a fellow trainer and
coach.

Respectfully yours,
Brian Platisha

Here is the ticket, I am a High School teacher that is always looking for the best way to educate my students. I have spent many green backs over the years to equip myself with the best knowledge available. I do not run my own business, my business is found in my classes. I would just like for once to get some quality information without pulling out my credit card.

Brian,

I feel I deserve to be awarded this Speed & Agility Certification because of my passion to reach youth. I don’t focus on just any youth, I pursuit youth many say have no chance in this society unless someone reaches out to them. I work with the youth whose family would have a hard time affording that personal trainer because they have a dream to one day play college or professional sports. I challlenge youth whose parents means of fitness development is relied upon by their high school conditioning coach in their sport of choice. Brian, I have passionately coached these kids for fifteen years in the inner city where the crime rate far exceeds the graduation rate. Through my consistency and reliability I have seen many male and female athletes go on to compete in intercollegiate athletics in football, basketball, and volleyball.

I know with this Speed & Agility Certification I will be able to continue reaching these youth, but I will be able to reach more youth as I plan to partner with inner city schools. I will use my Youth Fitness Specialist Certification and this Speed & Agility Certification to reach more inner city athletes in these schools where the Head Coach is the strength coach. I will pursuit these arenas with a desire to impact these youth to when they perform against the schools with better facilities and resources they will be able to compete athletically opening more windows of opportunities for intercollegiate athletics.
Brian, being awarded this certification would be humbling because the increased impact I will be able to create. I along with IYCA will take the inner city of Indianapolis by storm.

Respectfully,

Rodney E. Bussell

I’m still kicking myself for not being able to put the money together in time to attend the live speed certification event you put on in Chicago last spring. My need for this product is two fold. First, I’m slowly creating a new culture among athletes in my area based on the IYCA principles and need a way to speed the process along. The only true competition in my area is “selling” people on how great their high tech speed treadmills are and is using them on kids as young as six. I want to show local athletes how to get fast without the tech gear and the high costs that they charge. The second reason is for myself and my family. My day starts at 3am delivering newspapers and start training people by 5:30am and continue on and off all day until sometimes as late as 9pm. I do it to make ends meet, but my kids are getting to the age where they want their dad around to play after school and I’d like to be there for them. I can’t afford your certification otherwise, but if rewarded with it I will put myself in a position to never have to write a comment like this again and help a community in the process.

Hi Brian,

I would like to start off by thanking you for such a wounderful opportunity. Twelve years ago I was very proud to pass my NSCA exam as a strength and conditioning specialist. I take my profession very seriously and want to provide my athletes with the best up-to-date knowlege and training. This summer, I was given a chance to train elite level junior tennis players. When I started to investigate youth fitness training I came across the IYCA. I was immediatley impressed with the organization and was proud to be the first one certified within the province of Quebec. I am working on all aspects of fitness training with these athletes, including speed and agility. I have a very strong track background, but to be able to add such a certification (knowing that the information you always offer is extremly valuable) would provide me with the extra edge that I am looking for to help further my athletes.

Thanks,

Dean

Brian,
I don’t deserve this once-in-a-lifetime chance, but I would be honored and would cherish this opportunity. My passion is helping youth to reach their goals, not only athletically, but socially as well. Success to me is helping others to succeed. The youth that I work with deserve this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, not me. So by me receving this opportunity, I would be able to help those youth who deserve the best chance possible to be able to obtain their goals and to feel that they have succeeded. Thank you for your consideration. GW

Hi Brian,

This sounds like a great thing, please sign me up and let me know to get this.

Brian,

I feel I deserve the Speed & Agility Certification because of my passion to serve the youth who need it most. I have committed my life to serving the youth of the inner city of Indianapolis. One avenue I have chosen has been sports. I have been able to reach thousands of youth through at least fifteen years of service.

I know being awarded this certification I will be able to only enhance what I have done in the past. My drive is to continue reaching these youth who many feel are fighting a losing battle. Reaching these youth where the Head Coach is the strength & conditioning coach, is vital because they can’t afford to hire the additional training like youth in more affluent areas.

Therefore, I plan to take what I have gained with the IYCA and Lee Taft creating windows for our youth to become competitive athletically and achieve thier goals to compete intercollegiately. I will use this certification to continue coaching the youth and preparing our youth who need us most.

Respectfully,

Rodney Bussell

Well it all started with Tudor Bompa about seven years ago, although I remember listening to Brian not long after through various conference calls, and numerous audio cd’s which where the market strategy of choice still at that time; all via the web site that launched so many fitness entrepreneurs. I’ve always considered Brian Grasso the modern day Tudor Bompa, having the same impact on athletes as Tudor, only Brian reaches out to all athletes not just those that compete at the national and international levels. I have followed Brian from his first DVD titled Developing Young Athletes, to the IYCA forum and certification, to the world wide acknowledgment as the leader in the youth fitness Industry. A leader based on trust not shallow savvy marketing strategies. You know that by staying in touch with Brian and the IYCA that you will be in touch with others of similar character and expertise. Just as a solid athletic foundation takes time to build, so does a Junior Athlete Training business. With five kids, a full time and part time job my business has been gradually gaining ground. As watered down sports performance and speed training businesses pop up all around, some with the names of local and regional pro athletes it sometimes make it tough to compete. But every time I train an athlete that has left one of those training centers to train with me, it’s clear that we are outnumbered and that we need Lee Taft and Latif Thomas along with Brian Grasso and staff to reach today’s coaches, parents’ and their youth before the wannabe’s get a hold of them first. I went to the Speed Certification link but realized I couldn’t afford it at this time (as great a value as it is), I would love to be a part of it but instead will have to rely on my coaching skills and training knowledge coupled with help of a few DVD’s from Taft and Thomas to steer me straight every time I come to a “Y” in the road called training young athletes. Having said that I would proudly except and uphold the IYCA standards if I am fortunate enough to be chosen to receive a complementary Speed & Agility Certification through the IYCA.
Sincerely,

Hi Brian
Your program is awesome and I find your methods to be outstanding. I currently run a afterschool Fitness/Sport program for the grade school kids. I have been doing this for 4yrs and have been looking for an organization to belong to. I feel from all the messages you have sent that you are truly passionate in what you do. I feel the same way when I coach or train the kids. You are very informative and new. My background has been in the health clubs but I found working with the kids to be more enjoyable. I dont do it for the money but for the results I see and the reactions from the kids. Recently, i was able to expand my program to include high school kids–9th and 10th graders. I am always looking for new ideas to teach the kids and help them achieve their goals. My vision is to promote a healthy lifestyle and physical fitness. I would like to be certified and able to inform others about the correct methods to use, so they can be successful.
Thanks for this huge opportunity

I usually get a good night’s sleep, but every once in a while, something will pop into my head that will keep me up the ENTIRE night. Sometimes I’ll think about my future. Sometimes I’ll think of a new training method for myself or one of my clients. Usually I’ll think of something that is very exciting to me. This thought is different. This thought is downright depressing, and I can’t shake it. In fact, this is not the first time I have been plagued by this feeling. It has been bothering me for months. In the past, every time I’ve had this thought, I’ve tried to tell myself, “This is not for you to worry about yet. You are only 20 years old. You are doing everything you know how to do to solve the problem. You are way ahead of every other 20 year old you have ever met. You have an NSCA-CPT, CSCS, and IYCA-YFS. You graduated from Notre Dame in 3 years. You are going to have a doctorate in physical therapy when you are 23. You spend all your money on books and fitness products. You make the attempt to read everything there is to read about your field and follow all the big names in the industry. There will be a time for you to get involved. Relax.” I think that time is now. I’ve hit the breaking point. My only problem is I have not yet found a worthy mentor. I have not yet found anybody who not only shares my passion, but also who can guide me along the right path.
I need you to do something for me Brian. Think about everybody you’ve trained. Think about all the injuries you have prevented, all the lives you have improved. Think about all the products you have made and sold to knowledge hungry trainers like myself. Think of all the amazing things you have done, how you have helped reshape the industry. Think of all the work you have put in towards your own professional development. Think about how you will never EVER rest on your laurels and will continue to get better every single day. Now imagine all those positive thoughts getting a hard kick to the groin. This is the state I’m in right now. What’s this about?
For all the time and effort you and every other big name coach has put in, some entity or person comes along to screw it all up and regress fitness more and more. I’m talking TV networks (the Biggest Loser comes to mind), infomercials for useless pieces of equipment (Ab Circle Pro, anyone?), and infomercials for “fitness products” (if another person “asks” me what I think of P90X and then subsequently tells me my opinion is wrong because “it works” without actually ever witnessing anybody go through it, that person is going to get punched in the face). In fact, the list doesn’t end there. Let me throw in newspapers, magazines, the Internet, doctors, lawyers, physical therapists, personal trainers, early sports specialization “entrepreneur” coaches, my parents (I still can’t figure out why they still treat me like I don’t know anything about anything), gym teachers, high school and college strength coaches, the “functional training” guys, yoga and pilates instructors, bodybuilders, men, and women. Essentially, the best of the best and everybody that they work with keep getting better, while everybody else keeps getting dumber and keeps everybody that they know at that same level. To me, it only seems like less than 10% of people (and I feel I’m being very generous with that number) actually give a sh*t about being good at what they do, regardless of the field they are in. This leaves about 90% of all people in every occupation going through the motions and doing just as much harm as good. Ninety percent of people, as crappy and as minutely influential as they are individually, have a much bigger influence than the 10% who work their asses off.
This struck me the other day when I was talking to one of my classmates about something training related. I always reference people like you and Eric Cressey, Mike Robertson, Mike Boyle, Alwyn Cosgrove, and Bill Hartman when I make points about training. The people I’m talking to never know who any of you are and when I tell them that “so and so” is one of the most respected and renowned people in the industry, they always say, “Well that’s your opinion. I’ve never heard of him.” Then I ask the person if they’ve heard of Jillian Michaels, that crazy loud-mouthed “trainer” from the Biggest Loser. I usually get a yes. That makes me want to vomit. A month or two ago, just for kicks, I went to her website. Some random women’s magazine was quoted on the main page saying something to the effect of, “One of the top 10 fitness websites on the Internet!” Of course I knew that was bullsh*t before even seeing anything else on the site. Nevertheless, to give it a fair shot, I clicked around on the site and came across the exercise tip of the day or week or something. It was the triceps kickback exercise. It said something like, “The triceps kickback is a great way to tone your upper arms.” Maybe this is just my opinion, but her website is for losers.
Here’s my point. We are fighting and losing an uphill battle. Even the “well-credentialed” people that we as a society are supposed to put our trust in are too often just misinformation mills that venture far outside their areas of knowledge. Everybody thinks they know a lot about everything until they actually start learning. The more you know, the more you realize you don’t know. Not knowing drives people like me to learn everything they possibly can in hopes of making a difference.
Brian, I went to your YFS certification at the Perform Better Summit in Chicago. You said something so profound that made me truly want to make a difference in the world. Before I quote you, here is the setup. You were revealing to us some projected statistics about youth obesity. By 2010, you said it was projected to be 50%. You gave another stat for a year further down the road. I don’t remember what year or what the number was, but it was off the charts. It was frightening. Here is what you said: “If that happens, then I have failed.” To me, that was passion epitomized. You give everything you have to the IYCA, to creating a movement, to solving one of the biggest crises of our time. You want to share your passion with others, get the whole world involved, and make in impact in society that nobody has ever done before. I wish to join you. Hell, I want to one-up you. I want to do better than you. Realistic? If I truly believe it, then sh*t, yeah, it is realistic. I have high standards and seemingly impossible goals. But even if I don’t end up leading a more impressive life than you will have, I’m not worried. We are on the same team. I have no problem sharing success, and as passionate as we are, we are not going to be short of it.
I’ve gone this far without even mentioning your free giveaway. I don’t need it for free. I’ll spend the rest of my student financial aid to purchase it if I have to. I believe in the investment of my lifelong continuing education. It will be another tool in my toolbox that will help me build a foundation for both the present and the future.
I have seen you speak live twice, and I have spoken to you individually on one of those occasions. That will not be the last time our paths will cross. Look out for me in the future.

I want to first say that I don’t exactly need a copy… The reason is that I am not a professional but an athlete, and professionals can do so much more with the knowledge. I just felt the need to send this email (hope this doesn’t spam) because I want to say how grateful I am! I’ve been watching the videos that were sent to me when I subscribed to IYCA, and I felt like I learned more in the past hour’s time than I did my whole life. I am excited to attend the Webinar! Just thank you, thank you! I feel as if I’m overloading the page with exclamations, but the extensity in which you dedicate your concern into us fellow say, people, makes me smile. I am interested in the copy, but then again I cannot guarantee I can help my community. I will try though!

With Regards,
Janila

Hey Brian,

First off I wanna thank you for taking the time to read this. I know you have lots to go through so I’ll make this as short as possible. I think the first and best reason why I should get this certificate is simply my unrivaled passion for health and fitness. I have been obsessed with it for the last 13 years… and I’m 25 now. I love the way it makes me feel so I decided to become a personal trainer and boot camp instructor to help others experience what I do on a daily basis. I constantly strive to be the best at what I do and I know I can learn to be even better from you. I have many clients now that love the programs I already have them on and would love to add some superior speed training to their regimen. As a stubborn fitness entrepreneur who refuses to settle for anything less the greatness, I know I am the best candidate. Be assured it would be something put to great use. I am a truly committed man looking to gain the knowledge to be the best at what I do.

Thanks again,
Matthew Alimena

Hi Guys. Firstly I would like to say what a wonderful time I’ve had the last year since becoming a member of the IYCA. Great information and a great team always wiling to help you. If you’re not a member of http://www.iycamembers.com yet, then get over to the site and sign up.

I would love to do the Speed Certification as I want to improve Youth Sports in South Africa. We have so many talented kids over here, but not enough educated coaches. It’s my mission to inform as many coaches as possible about the IYCA and what they can do for the kids. The Speed Certification will be an added bonus to the already heaps of education I have received from this wonderful organization.

Most people in S.A have never even heard of Speed Clinics or Running Mechanics, etc. Therefore I would like to be the one to start the Revolution in South Africa and I know with this Certification I will be able to do this a lot sooner.

May you all have a great Day.

Rgds.

Stian Weideman.

Hi Brian,
I’m currently a YFS1 and I’m going through my YSF2 as we speak, I’m down under in Melbourne, Australia and I’ve been targeting the youth with my coaching since the early 90’s, martial arts tends to offer loads disciplinary qualities for our developing youth, and being a soft natured person I left the hard and negative styles of martial arts coaching where it belongs, in the bin ;) .
Since my introduction into the fitness industry via gym instructing and personal training, I’m continually angered at the damage being done by the large fitness franchisers to our reputation as a trainer, I’ve concentrated all my efforts into the youth that I’ve been providing strength and conditioning training for, for the past 5 years, I’ve been building the reputation of the schools that I’ve been working with as well as my own.
I love to say that this certification would be the icing on my cake, but as we all know, it’s just another ingredient that’s going to be an essential part of the first layer of this multi layered cake.

Funny enough I’m craving a frosted cup cake right now…… :)

Brian,

Were should I start. I have been eger to become a trainer of some sort since I started training in martial arts when I was in grade school. I have been a leader in some of my classes & all of my past & current instructors have always mentioned that they would like to see me eventually teaching a class at their schoool. I would love to teach my own classes.

I have gone to workshops & seminars since 2004 or 2005 starting with a Ryan Lee workshop. I have even stated school & had to drop because my sponsor backed out on loaning me the money after I had started class & doing pretty good inspite of being one of the oldest students in the class. It was heart-breaking.

I have not given up the fight. I have purchased a home study program & I am working with a certified trainer who is working with kids. Her goal is to work directly with kids & create a training location strickly for kids & I am working under her or should I say with her to learn & train withkids as well.

I feel this program would be a way to work more directly with kids & start the process of training & teaching them how to become better people & also a way towards the goal of creating a training location for kids.

I love working & training with kids. And I am a Big O’l 45yr old kid as well. I dont wanna grow up & as long as I can help kids stay young at heart & health that is what I will do in whatever means I can.

So I appreciate the opportunity to share my story & goals with you. And if I am not selected I wish the winner the best & most success & much love.

Peace & Love
Tracey

I deserve this certification because all i have ever done is cared about others and in helping them become better, this could just be another way of me helping out. Even though I play soccer for both a club and a highschool team, I take joy mostly in teaching everyone around me the correct way. I am a great teacher, and as I have already begun my resaerch and drive to learn about this certification, i have purchased the complete speed training program from Latif Thomas, and can understand everything with full confidence. Also, unlike the adults that will be trying to get this certifcation, I am a current player, and know firsthand, the main problems that kids have, because I work with them eeveryday. And if getting kids to sign up for this program is difficult for other people, its a walk in the park for me. I hope you choose me, it would be a blessing.

Hello Brian, Lee,

First of all I would like to thank the two of you for all the wonderful information that you guys teach us everyday. It is the knowledge you two have past along to me that has helped to give an 11yr old boy a healthy and to this date injury free athletic life. Thank You!

I believe that I deserve a Speed Certification because while I work with athletes just about everyday of the week I do it because I love it. While it is my biggest goal to own and operate a succesful youth training facility I just can’t find the time to anything but volunteer.

Last spring I was going to start my business but I have a freind that runs a basketball academy and coaches a couple teams in the spring and summer and ask me to help. “A chance to work with 15-20 kids 1-2 hours four days a week plus watch some exciting basketball on Saturdays and sometimes Sunday for free? Of course I can.”

This year I wasn’t going coach football, I had a business to start. 4 days into the start of the season my sons coach asked if I could help with the team and be a running back coach. “You mean I get to teach a hand full of kids proper running techniques and proper conditioning 23 kids 4-5 days a week? Um Yes of course I can.”

Football season will be over in about 5-6 weeks so I should start planning on starting my business then. “No way Jose! I am the president of a youth basketball league that serves over 400 kids age 6-18 that live in my comunity.”

So why do I deserve to be Speed Specialist? Because someday I will own a succesful training business and facility but currently, I do it all because I love it!

I have had the calling to work with children for a very long time. I have the fortunate opportuinty to work with a friend on a non-profit endeavor that will bring fitness to the youth of many cities. Through grants and outside funding we will provide health and fitness education to children and hopefully teachers. We intend to offer yoga, fitness and much education regarding healthy food choices and how to remain active in an ever-sedentary society.
I personally am going through challenges in my life with my family splitting up and so focusing my energies in a positive direction have helped me to get through these changes.

I would love to have the Speed & Agility Certification. I am a personal trainer, soccer coach and I do a exercise for fun sessions for kids. I am from Ireland and always jealous that there is so much more for sport in the states. I feel in Ireland that sprot is reallyneglected that as a country we could and should be better. I hate the fact that alot of our athletes train in other countries as we dont have the facilities and training for them. I believe that something like this would be priceless for myself so that i can then go and train kids better. I believe the more training I get the better it is for the people I train. I hope I am the lucky one who recieves this great offer so I can try and make a change with training in this country.

Thanks

Dear Brian,
WOW. Where do i start?
It’s my birthday. That’s a good place.
I’m 33 today.
And what a year it’s been…
I feel liek the underdog sometimes.
I didn’t finish college because I didn’t know what label to put on myself. When I ran out of money, I stopped going because it didn’t make sense for me to go into debt until I had a good reason to – until I had something I was really going for.
I’ve spent all of my adult life working and experiencing all sorts of jobs and careers.

And then the IYCA came along.
It felt so right.
Two years ago when I heard the New Horizons presentation I was hooked.
I did Level 1 certification.
And level 2.
I wanted to present for the IYCA more than anything else.
It was my dream.
And this summer it started coming into reality.
I watched the presentation over and over. I took notes. I practiced in fromt of people.

It’s what I did with my free time.
And then, time slipped by. I wasn’t hearing from my ‘boss’ very often. Things just weren’t coming together.
Finally, it became clear; the IYCA just isn’t ready for this step. They had other things going on.

So I took a new direction. I want to work with kids. I want to make a difference.
I did what I thought I’d never do; I applied to go back and get my teaching degree.

As I was waiting for the process to happen, I was blessed with a fantastic opportunity.
My nutritionist called me and told me about a guy who trains kids and was looking for a person to work with that has passion, energy, ambition, and understands that this is NOT just about training, it’s about the whole child.
I was SO on board.

So, here I am, 3 weeks in, and soaking in all I can to get up to speed on how to teach drills, skills, and speedwork.
These are the skills I lack. I have the passion and the drive, but I lack the skills.
I DO need your help.
Finally, this fantastic opportunity to be with kids and I’m pretty clueless about the skills.
I grew up swimming for a reason!!! No coordination training, nothing…

I feel like the luckiest woman in the world. I lead a blessed life because of people like you, people like my boss, and the kids that believe enough in me to give me a chance of a lifetime.

I know I can make a difference and just need some help with the education.
I’ll use your program until it’s worn thin.
I will make a difference.
I already am.
Thank you for your consideration.
I hope to always have the IYCA in my life!
Sincerely, Kara Kelly

As a Swiss trainer and rugby coach, I would like to make your system accessible for every kids, from different social and cultural background. It is not all about performance but pleasure that you can stir from moving, exploring your body capacities and giving you more confidence through a well-though and effective system. I do not not if I deserve your offer more than other trainers around the globe, but I surely want to popularize your system in a new country where youth is eager to learn more and where coaches should bring something new to the swiss market which tends to rest on its laurels.

I hope to read you soon.

Best regards

I have wanted to work with young athletes to prevent injuries (like the ACL tear I sustained 20 years ago) for a long time. I feel our society is inundated with several camps that as Brian has stressed overtax the CNS and leave children wide open to several overtraining issues. (recently there are Crossfit for kids opening up). I want to start a camp that is safe, effective, and multiplanar (the list goes on and on). I think kids and parents deserve an option of having a camp like this. I am excited to be a part of IYCA’s revolution and would love to have all the tools necessary to provide a top notch service to the youth in my area.

well im a volunteer coach with a organization that doesnt charge to pay, we as coaches TRY to foot the bill for our kids. we already are at a disadvantage against other teams because they have better facilities, and better sponsorships. if we could gain any advantage to help these kids that otherwise just win on heart and determination, it would be a blessing. they usually cant go to spped camps or any other kind of camps for that matter that arent free. if we as coaches can learn anything that could help these kids be successful would be great! please consider me for this blessing!

Hi Brian! I would like to ’seize the day’ on this window of opportunity to obtain the speed and agility certification for free. I am on a quest to help people make a healthy difference in their lives; and, it is a hard road alone. I have been teaching fitness to individuals and groups for the past 14 years, from athlete to non-athlete, youth to senior. I have been running my own business for the past 3 years because I believe in myself; and, what I’m trying to do. I live in a very small community of 1000 people; but, I love it because I train people outside; at the beach, in the park, on the hiking trails as well as in schools, the fire hall, the rink, the community centre. I know you said you don’t know what it’s like to work really hard and not make a income difference. I teach 20 classes a week; and, sometimes only make $6.00 or $12.00 or $20.00 per class. I’ve tried to offer a 10 week, $30.00 Kidz Fit ‘have fun’ class and only could get 8 kids to sign up. I currently train the high school hockey team; and, think that training other hockey teams in the community makes sense. I need the tools to help me be; and, do better. Personally, I am trying to raise 4 teen-agers, on my own. I am living $18,000 below the poverty line. I do not want to ‘throw in the towel’, I want to ‘use it, to wipe the sweat off of my face’… thank-you for your continued support! cheers! Lori (Taylor)

Hi Brian
I must say since becoming a member there is so much I have learnt from your organization. I currently live in the NYC and have had a passion for sports and youth sports since I can remember. I can honestly say that my life has found great reward since I started working with the youth about 5 years ago. The problem is my dream of becoming a business owner has had many setbacks some through no falut of mines. For a while I had to struggle through part time jobs because of the fact that I was here legally, then the struggle went from that to trying to get into a field that I dont really have that much experience in and qualification for, just a background in sports and a passion for the feild. My dream has been set back as well because I honestly do not make that much to even get some kind of qualification to move ahead. This would be a great boost for me, and my future plans with the Youth of the US and even the youth in my hometown of St. Lucia. I would love the oppurtunity to be one of the many considered for this opportunity.
Thanks for your time and consideration, and keep inspirinf people around the world with what you do.

As a coach, the ability to get athletes stronger is a great attribute. But the ability to apply that strength in an athletic and explosive fashion is a critical piece of the puzzle. Having the ability to teach athletes to be faster and gain the edge needed to be better than their competitors is a huge benefit. Having a deadly combination of speed and strenght makes any team from good to great and makes any athlete phenominally better in terms of confidence and self motivation to get better and to keep gettting better.

Thank you Brian for this wonderful opportunity. It was only 10 short months ago when my life fell apart and I was lying in a hospital bed contemplating life, literally. I was a former teacher who just several months before left the classroom to answer a higher calling of helping children become more physically active, when the bottom fell out of my life. My goal is to reach out not just to athletes but to all the other children as well, who for whatever reason, didn’t have the same opportunities the others may have had up to that point in their lives. I had recently received my YCS Level 1. Slowly but gradually my life started to come back. I made the trip to Louisville in February knowing it was going to enhance my life in a big way. And that it did. With the help of the summit and the great people I met there, it gave me the courage to continue to follow my calling, although, financially it has been a huge burden up to this day. My goal is to reach and touch the lives of as many children as possible to help them develop the confidence and self-esteem necessary to become the best they can be in life. These are the same two skills, that when I was in the hospital, realized was the source of my health problems. I never would have thought that was the case, but reality sometimes can be a tough pill to swallow. Having these additional tools will help me to touch the lives of more children and allow me to continue along my chosen path of helping kids become the best they can be. Thank you. David

Three years ago, when my son, Nathan, was 6 years old, he wanted to play tackle football. During the first practice, the team warmed up and was told to run a lap around the field. After about 30 yards, my son was unable to keep going because he was already tired. The next practice, I asked the coach if I could join my son on the lap to help him make it. My son was large for his age, out of shape and slow. He was by far the slowest and worst player on the team. After one practice, on the way home, with tears in his eyes, he said, “Dad, I think I’m to slow to keep up with the other kids. Maybe I shouldn’t play anymore.” I asked if he wanted to get faster so he could play; he said yes. I told him I would do whatever I could to help him get in shape so he could get faster and keep up with the other boys. After much research, I found and purchased Complete Athlete Development. I began working with Nathan, using the principles taught in Complete Athlete Development. I became a certified youth conditioning specialist through ICYA. The next season of football, the coaches were amazed at the progress Nathan made. This past season, Nathan moved to the most competative tackle football league in our area. Out of 30 kids, he is probably the 8th best player on the team. When they run laps, he is in the front of the pack; he is the fastest lineman on the team. His confidence has soared. He is the best center in the very competative league. He still wants to be faster. His goal is to get a college scholarship and play professional football. I am now an assistant coach. I see other kids who are slow and out of shape. I have empathy for them because I saw the same problems in my son, but I have hope because I see the progress my son made. I want to help these other kids get in shape and improve their speed. I want to help our football organization (four teams with kids from first grade to eighth grade) develop off season training programs so our kids are in shape and the fastest in the league. For a lot of these kids, this is the difference between success (in school and in life) and not reaching their potential. Earning the speed certification to go with the conditioning certification would give me the tools needed to start developing these programs. Unfortunately, like a lot of people, I was laid off late last year and cannot afford the certification right now.

As a high school and club soccer coach I see kids that have no idea how to run with good form. As kids reach those dynamic growth years, U12 – U14, I am seeing far more heal, ankle, knee and hip pain. I firmly believe it is directly related to poor running form. As a high school girl’s coach I see players that run with body lean from the waist, arms that do not work together, heel strikes, straight legs strikes and poor recovery cycles. Kids are working hard to move but are putting high loads on their joints. Injured kids don’t enjoy sports and we do lose some every year just because they are tired of being hurt.

If we can teach young players to run with good form, increase their speed while reducing injuries we will have a huge positive impact on their enjoyment of sport and help them continue developing healthy life styles. Kids need us. Not a bad mission at all.

It would be an amazing blessing to receive the certification material at no cost because I am truly at a cross roads in my life. I have felt led for the last 2 years to pursue a career in the area of fitness and especially training youth in speed and agility training, but i virtually do not have the extra to purchase the materials right now(I just barely had enough to get my PT certificaton earlier this year). It hard enought right now to make ends meet without persuing a new career, but i am feeling led to do this. This desire was sparked mainly by the fact that I did not have a mentor going through middle school or high school and I now have 3 sons who are up and coming athletes, and I believe our teens need mentors in their life to help guide them and listen to them. But moreover i believe I am to work with youth and help guide them not only in how to become great athletes, but to be the best that they can be in all aspects of their life. There are so many children out there, especially pre-teen and teenagers who need a mentor, especially the boys out there who don’t have a father, or their father isn’t around much, or their father just isn’t involved. This is where you guys come in. I need your guidance on training these individuals in the right way. I believe this is a big responsibility and this certification would be just what I need to move forward with my dream.
I hope you consider my entry and look forward to making the most out the certification if picked.
God Bless You,
Pat

I am looking to increase my knowledge of speed and agility. I currently coach a track club of about 150 athletes and we have had great success over the last five years. This year alone we took 72 kids to nationals and we had 28 of those kids to medal (top 8 places at the meet) and 4 gold medals!! Our team consist of 12 coaches that competed in athletics at division I colleges. Right now we have the #1 hurdler in the country and she only stands at 5′0″ and weighs around 90lbs. Imagine that! I said all of this to say a lot or our success comes from the knowledge our coaching staff has obtained throughout the years. Most important is the fact I realize that we don’t know it all and we need to continue to learn in order to get better. I have left my job as a banker and I am pursuing youth fitnes and training full time. So as you can imagine my funds are low and debts are high. LOL It seems as though I have found more info on you than any other person when it comes to youth fitness. That lets me know that you are doing something right. I want to get as much knowledge from you as I can in order to further my success. Money is just real tight now with my wife being the only one working. If I receive the course for free great! If not I still plan on getting it once the money starts pouring in.

Hey Brian,

When I started working in the fitness industry 5 years ago I fell in love with it. I got certified through the NSCA, studied Exercise Science and received my Bachelor’s in it, and followed those up earning my CSCS through the NSCA. Last Fall I had my first opportunity to work with youth athletes. I trained a high school baseball team as well as some tennis, soccer, and volleyball players. Working with these young people was amazing!

While I was working with these youth, I discovered you and the IYCA. I had the opportunity to meet you and some other wonderful, loving, passionate individuals in February at the Summit, a life changing event for me. I purchased your Complete Athlete Development system, studied it, then studied for and earned my Youth Fitness Specialist Level 1.

While I’m going to pay for this certification if I don’t earn it based on my submission, I would love the opportunity to have this certification cost-free. At this point it would be especially helpful for me from a financial stand point because 1. I have $52,000 in student loan debt ( I just graduated in December) and 2. I was in a bad accident on my motorcycle at the race track, Road Atlanta, in July. The cost of the helicopter ride to the hospital plus the hospital stay itself is quite expensive.

The great thing about my accident is it tremendously strengthened my relationship with God. It reminded me of what actually matters in life. I want to spread as much love as possible. I feel that being so young (23) puts me in a position to do huge things while I’m here on Earth, especially when it comes to impacting the most important beings, the youth.

Brain, thank you for all the opportunities you’ve presented to me.

Well I started working as an assistant coach for football ages 8-10 years old as more of a strenght and conditioning role as a request from the president of the league. Now my expirence with training young athletes has been at my faciltiy on my terms without any outside influence. So I was suprised to see how little coaching was going on when I first arrived at practice. Sure football drills were being shown and the kids were being put thru cone drills and there was a lot of yelling go faster. No fundamentals were being taught on deceleration, accleration, landing and jumping mechanics. Well I figured since I was requested to help that these coaches would be open minded, but they weren’t. In there minds slowing things down to show the fundamentals of movement was a waste of time because these 8 to 10 year olds have went undeafeated the last three seasons. That unfortunaltey is the coaches and the parents main concern. So I took a look at the older kids in this league 12-15 years old to see what was the result of this lack of coaching the fundamentals of movement. Well just like I figured these kids haven’t won a game in 3 years and there movment skill were horrible. None of them knew how to decelerate, accelrate, land or jump correctly and no strength training was ever implemented, so they were very weak and lacked mobility. So I went to this age group, first because the coaches were very open minded because there lack of winning and they were more genuine about these young athletes development. My hope is to change the way this whole league coaches speed and agiltiy and strength by developing these kids as athletes with a proven model for success. Sure I’ve learned quite a bit from the IYCA and Lee Taft speed programs, but never have had a complete program or certification that gives me a step by step approach on how to develop and implement speed and agility fundamentals from the ground up. I really am passionate about changing the way these kids and the other athletes I train are taught and how coaches perceive and teach speed and agility as a skill not just drills. I do get frustrated at times at how closed minded coaches can be and how winning takes precendence over development, I just can’t imagine the uphill battle you had to go through in developmenting the IYCA and it’s teaching philosophies. I’m lucky and feel blessed to have an orginization and mentors like you lee taft and all the other professionals tied into your orginization, cause I couldn’t imagine trying to do this by myself. I really believe that this certification in conjunction with my IYCA certification and athletic development system will not only give me more confidnece but help me to educate coaches, parent and young athletes on the most effective and apporiate way to develop these young athletes. I really do want to make a difference and I do lose sleep at night on how frustrating this can be sometimes fighting the whole this is how we always done it attitudes. But knowing what you must have gone through and putting stuff like this togehter is just the support that I know can help me make a difference.

I would like to receive a no charge Speed Certification. I honestly cannot say that I “deserve it” or for that manner, anyone deserves a certification at no cost. I am really like what I have read about IYCA and the programs are intriguing and something that I would like to be a part of..

In my case, I have volunteered as a coach for over 15 years and have never charged a dime for my services.

I am an ex-college athlete that grew up in an era of unpaid coaches and that was always the manner in which I approached providing a service to children that wanted to learn. During this time period, I have worked with athletes aged 5-20 in football, baseball, and track and field and many of the athletes have moved on to have varying levels of success. Coaching has always and continues to be my passion. I never really realized how much I enjoyed teaching young athletes until I gained more time to work with young athletes after being laid off.

With the recent changes in the economy, specifically my employment status, I have started the process of exploring different avenues to provide a better source of income for my family. This time around, I would like to have a career that is a true passion that affords me an opportunity to have a comfortable income. My savings are nearly depleted and I need to get moving in a new direction sooner rather than later. I will be moving in this direction but could really use a hand in getting started sooner.

The idea of making a living working with children/young adults in the fitness industry would not only fulfill a strong passion inside of me, but would afford me an opportunity have a serious impact in their development while making a living.

Thanks for your consideration.

I coached pee wee football for around 7 years. I have a group of kids that I still follow as they are in 9th grade now. All, but two of these kids, (around 12) are from broken homes. I do my best to help them better themselves. I have extra training with them. I even offer them tutoring with my wife, a teacher. I am convinced that with their ability, grades, and support, that at least 8-12 of them can achieve DI or DII scholarships. Your program will help me further my commitment to them. As far as making money off the program, I might be able to give a little financial support to them without killing my own finances as I do now.

Thanks.

I am a volunteer soccer coach that has already spent several hundred dollars of my own money to be a better coach to help young children be the best athletes than can be. There are so many coaches both volunteer and paid that are using old outdated principles or no real principal or strategy at all and I would love to improve myself more so I can help these children be even better.
We all know a faster more agile player will cause havoc to a more skilled slower soccer player and I would like to help my players be more successful. Alot of the outcome of a soccer game relies on winning the ball so just being a better dribbler, passer, receiver etc. does not help much when the players you are up against are getting to the ball before you.
I would really appreciate a free certification course as I do not and will not receive any of my funds spent on additional training tools back. The kids deservee the best coach they can get and I always strive to be that coach.

Coach Joe – Teach the teacher and the kids will learn.

Adding controlled speed front, sideways, and back can have a huge impact on a young athelete’s impact on the field. As a mom of atheletes and a personal fitness trainer, I’m excited to have the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the field. Thanks!

Hello Brian and thank you for this opportunity. My primary job has been as a union commercial electrician for 19 years. I have always been into health and fitness and wanted to somehow turn it into a career. With many co- workers and friends asking fitness related questions over the years it prompted me to finally get certified in 2007 and learn as much as I can in order to best help these very important people in my life. I never intended to train youth, my interest were to help busy moms and dads with weight management . Since helping a good friend out with youth football this year a mysterious thing happened to me……..I LOVE IT! I also realize that I have much to learn when it comes to speed and agility and how to train clients in this way. The kids that I coach are 10-11 years of age and have a lot of potential and want to learn the game but they lack speed. This seems to be common in this area ever since when I played here…..lol. Your program is top notch and I feel like this would not only benefit me as a trainer but more importantly would benefit my kids and future clients interested in increasing their speed and agility. With the economy the way it is and some other financial burdens money is tight, but even if I don’t win I will somehow purchase your coarse!
Thank you.
Live long and live healthy,
Jim

It’s funny. I wish I could say why I am more deserving than anyone else. I can’t. For me to say that I am more deserving, is for me to say that I am better or more needy than anyone else out there. I’m not. There are tons of coaches out there that have more experience than me and have more players than I do. So I feel that they are more deserving. However, I feel that I want this more than anyone else, let me explain why.

Although I loved power lifting and heavily involved with martial arts I was never a highly competitive athlete in school. Loved working out and loved helping other kids with weight training. I think I started unofficially as a trainer before my senior year. During first semester I was taking weight training, and apparently I knew less than I thought I did. Long story short, I ended up rupturing a disk in my back while doing rows, mostly do to ignorance of some coaches lack of quality weight training. Spent the rest of my senior year with a crippling case of sciatica. Had surgery when I was 18 to remove about have of a herniated disk out of my back. Off to college.

While in school I was a competitive cheerleader. During that time I was introduced to Olympic weight training. This was part of our workout program. I absolutely think it was great, however the coaching was abysmal at best. Most of the advice I got, was add weight and it will get easier. Seriously. I think I spent more time trying to undue bad techniques then most.

Fast forward to present day, where I am now 36. Having been a trainer for quite some time I see more people in their adult lives, like me, that have played sports while they were younger, that have really no concept of good focused training. This has cause me to focus my time on helping the youths in my area. Help bring back the physical culture than seems to be dissipating and bring back the fun and self discovery of physical movement.

I have a son that plays hockey. I have several friends that are coaches, along with having friends that are tournament level coaches for different sports. Currently I am seeing the hockey program switch programs to an LTAD model. Received and email for this a few weeks ago, and I wanted to cheer.

So why do I want this? Because I believe that the IYCA along with LTAD is the way of the future, is why. I want to partner with the coaches and bring an enlightened physical culture back. That kids and sports is about learning, and developing, not about stats on a scoreboard. Having spent time talking to with coaches I know that most are starting to get it, and I want to be a part of that change. I believe that IYCA has created the tools that will allow me to do just that. That is why I want the Speed Certification more than anyone. Not just to have a certification, but to spearhead and support the change that is coming.

October 1, 2009

I have been following Brian and the IYCA for quite some time now and have always seen eye to eye with the methods and ideas shared by the organization. It has been refreshing to share in these beliefs and opinions and have the support of tons of trainers that are now also sharing in this system.

Although I truly believe that I deserve it, I think the young athletes in my area (Cleveland, OH) deserve to have access to such a great program that will help improve their athletic abilities. If you have been following recent sports news, then you would have heard how Cleveland sports teams are basically a huge joke right now (Cleveland Browns are terrible and are in the midst of another QB controversy , and the Cleveland Indians are so bad that they fired the manager). I think Cleveland deserves a new group of improved athletes, and that can only really start at the the youth level. My goal with implementing the Speed and Agility camps will be to help the youth of Cleveland improve their performance and ultimately improve the level of play for the future.

Youth coaching is about serving the kids. I am the instructor coach for an inner city youth soccer club. We also have a competitive club in that area. Many of our kids must have aid in order to participate in sport. We give many scholarships to help kids in need.We have kids from broken homes, kids from all races, and even some kids with physical challenges. We have 3 deaf players.
Anything we can do to better serve these young players is a must do. I am always looking for another way to help kids. It is important to me to give back as much as I can.

I am so excited to learn about the speed and agility training and certification! I am a full time working mother of three (all under the age of 6!), and I am trying to get my triaining business up and running. I have worked as a physical therapist for 10 years and am ready to make a change from rehab to prevention. My goal of improving the fitness knowledge and awareness in my community would be greatly helped by having this certification and information. As much as I would love to sell my business as “keeping kids fit” and promoting a more “healthy lifestyle”, the terminology “speed and agility” is what is going to get the parents’ attention and bring the kids to see me. Like I said, I am a working mother of 3, and that does not leave much free time to build business, not as much as I would like anyway. That certification would help me to draw kids in, and start teaching and educating sooner than later. And for this to be free, to someone who pays more in daycare than I do for my mortgage, that would be a blessing!!

Brian,
This is a tremendous opportunity for those of us who are passionate about youth sports performancxe and injury prevention and I’m honored to be able to “plead my case”, so to speak.

I just turned 49 years of age on September 8, and my first grandson was born on the 26th. I have another grandson due in January. I am the father of two wonderful young ladies, and growing up they never had the “stuff” that a lot of their friends had because I hadn’t yet figured out how this business of fitness and sports performance can be profitable AND beneficial to others.

I sponsor a little girl through World Vision with a donation every month. I’ve done so for the last 11 years. I consider her my 3rd daughter. I wasn’t able to afford to send my own girls to college, but I see this information as a gateway to be able to send both my grandson’s, as well as my 3rd daughter to college one day.

If I am the blessed recipient of this gift, it will mean not only the improvement of every young athlete with whom I come into contact, but the eventual educational increase of those children of my children.

Thanks Brian.

Aloha,
Why do I want this Certification… when I was in grade school, I aways was being beat by this one guy in track… Then I met coach Walker in High School in 1986 my senior year, didn’t join from freshmen – junior… who thought me how run… I began learning his technics and ran the 100m dash in 11 seconds flat on the dirt track back then… He said that if I came out during my freshmen year, at my senior level I would have been running 10’s… But his teachnics is old school…LOL Jus a little history… I was a Speed, Agility, Conditioning and Goalkeeper coach since 2007-2008-2009 JV girls soccer and they saw big improvement on the running. Now politics steped in and now they don’t need me.. But… Another High School took me in because of my background experiance, but I would want to coach track also, and maybe by showing them that I am certified, they would let me into their track program, which is I think the best track school on the island… I can help make that school even better…. And more people would want to learn how I got the knowledge, then I can send them to you folks…
I also have been coaching community soccer after high school soccer season is over, and always looking on youtube for the latest training in Sprinting, Agility, Conditioning and Goalkeeper skills… I am 41 years old and still can outrun the students, well most of them… Sorry, I didn’t go to college, but went to the school of hard knocks… US Army..LOL Jus trying to become a community leader, because my old track coach is still teaching old technics in both track and goalkeeping.. And that is why I want to get certified….

Mahalo,
Coach Freddie

I deserve it because if it is everything you say it is, I will use what I learn to equip the players I coach to realize their potential and make an impact in whatever they commit to achieve. If you want your material to be used and make a difference in the lives of young people who need it, then putting that material in my hand will bring that about. I deserve this material because my players deserve it, and I serve them.

Wow, I’d love to have a chance to learn through your Speed and Agility certification. I have a passion for kids. I have a passion for fitness, and I have a passion for coaching and inspiring young people to achieve beyond their dreams.
I believe that I have the intangibles that you’ve mentioned in your talks about youth fitness, but what I lack is knowledge and resources, temporarily. I have a background as an athlete and as a tennis coach but am relatively new in the fitness field. I am working hard to increase my knowledge, so that I can increase my confidence and my ability to help people.
You said it, the speed and agility certification would set me apart in my field. I coach a lot of young tennis players and help them with their fitness for tennis. I hope to be able to learn all that I can from you, Brian, and Lee Taft!
Thanks for all you’ve taught me already.

I ‘ve thought about this stuff for a long time and have come to the conclusion that it’s all about the kids. No matter the physical activity, sport, or team they do as a coach, parent, or educator we want to see our children do the best they can and succeed. We want them to be armed with the right tools and have the right knowledge to compete. A system that does that is a great thing and cuts down on a lot of trial and error for the athlete and his/her coach. I’m no more worthy than the next educator but I tell you the kids that I coach and teach would benefit tremendously from the automatic knowledge of a couple of industry specialists.

Brian,

I deserve to receive this certification because we recently started a track club to serve athletes in a low income area. All my coaches donate their time, no one on my staff is paid. This would allow me to develop confidence and structure in these young athletes into leading healthy and productive lives. One of our goals is to create a non – profit youth sports company to expand our programs and allow us to solicite grants/funding from different sources.

My passion runs deep for training my kids as well as my kids teammates. I have struggled a little with my finances and I know that it will take me sometime to come up with the finances to get this certification; However, to be quite frank, I want to impact my player right know! I don’t wont to wait! I want to get started on 10/5! I was very pleased with Latif’s program and if its anything like his program than I can’t wait. I am ready and worthy of this huge gift.

Dear Brian,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to express my gratitude for the chance of being selected for the speed certification award. Here is why i am the right choice for this honor. I am a 44 yr old unemployed father of three, married and actively involved in working with youth football for the past 8 years. I have a B.S. Degree from Oregon State were I was a scholarship Linebacker for them in the late 80’s. My love has always been sports. My dream was to play football professionally. Unfortunately my career was cut short from injuries. It left a hole in my life as many who have experienced this would understand. I have not felt sorry for myself, I did earn a degree and I have gained a lot of experience and wisdom in management and sales careers. I have had some good jobs and made some good money. However, the passion and drive has never been like is was for sports. Last year, being out of work and a stay at home dad, I decided to pursue speed and agility training for the benefit of my 7th grade daughter and 4th grade son who showed some interest and promise in speed running. I found Latif Thomas’ speed training manual, ordered it and worked with my kids. I loved it. The passion came back. Being an ex athlete myself, who ran a 4.49 as a 220 pound linebacker, using the techniques and applying them to real world was not a jump for me at all. In fact I was fascinated with it all. I have had many close friends encourage me to start my own speed training camp. I am sure I can do it. One thing I learned from my careers it that you don’t reinvent the wheel…you copy or duplicate it. That is where your program would come into play. It would provide me with the blueprint/business model for me to do something right from the start so that I can launch a new career as a speed training coach successfully and and have passion for. I have the entrepreneurial spirit, but have not been able reach a level that I can fully provide for my family. They have went with out many things willing to sacrifice for me. What I would give to provide, with in reason, some needed things for my kids and supportive wife! I love working with the youth! They are so eager to learn and willing to listen. I have seen the fruits of this labor and I know that helping these young people goes way beyond the sport they love. It is about teaching then how to succeed in life and being just a small catalyst to send them on there way to a wonderful exploration of life, what a blessing that has been! Brian, i am sure you want to be convinced that whoever you award the certificate to is worthy and going to do something with it. That guy is me. I have the passion, the background, the desire, the timing is right, and the knowledge provided to me would be multiplied many thousand fold. Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi Brian,
Really a simple answer to why I am requesting a speed certificate. I am the Programme Leader here at AUT University in Auckland New Zealand and as such am responsible for training our students (130) to become Fitness Instructors over the one year programme. During this time the students will also learn to become Personnel Trainers and part of that process entails learing speed and acceleration drills so that they can in turn organise and administer speed training sessions both testing and coaching.
Additionally I teach on the Bachelor undergrad programme and in the third year the students undertake projects during a Cooperative Paper (working in industry). In the past two years I have supervised students who have worked at the Millennium Institute of Health and Sport where they administer the Long Term Athlete Development (LATD) programme. The students administer and coach speed training where we have achieved success by simply working on running mechanics for 15 minutes, three times per week for four weeks.
Having accreditation with you will add value to our programme as well as letting the students know that you exist and that there is a supportive network for them to tap into when they themselves go into the field to test, coach or train. While I have been in the physical education, fitness, sport and recreations industry for some 35 years, I am always seeing and learning new techniques and you and your team are part of that process. Looking forward to a positive result.
Kind regards,
Kev

I have been in the fitness industry for 25 years. My youth coaching passion started about 6 years ago with my son and daughter all involved in sports. I coach every youth sport I can football, wrestling, baseball and others. Now I am coaching High School Football and am the Strengh and Conditioning Coach for a small northern California school, population no more than 8,000. Three years ago I bought a small commercial building in this small town to start a youth fitness and gym in this very sports minded town. While working 19 feet above the first floor of this new building a platform broke and I feel head first to the cement. After being life flighted to the hospital and surgury I woke up in the hospital with major liver damage. Alot of the doctors said that a normal man would have and I should have died, but since i was in such good shape and healthly I lived. Two months in the hospital and one year recovery I am back to normal and in better shape than before. I feel that i was saved for a few reasons one of them was to give back my knowledge in fitness and conditioning to the youth kids in the community. I am as of now back working on that building trying to get it ready for a fitness program center and coaching two football teams youth pee wee team and high school freshman team.

I wish I could say I was more deserving than the rest – probably not. There are lots of folks out there who are genuinely motivated and sincere about helping kids succeed in youth sports, some of us make do with precious little resources. Some, like myself, no doubt have personal histories that involve squandering athletic opportunities in their youth.(imagine having to actually go to class in order to play varsity-sheesh:). Anyway, I guess its about ensuring that my kids ( I coach club softball and baseball and volunteer HS track), have all the tools they need to ‘be all they can be’ – to borrow a phrase. It ain’t exactly Shawshank, but I view it as redemption anyway.
Also, around here there are quite a few old-school coaches who still cling to the “you can’t teach speed” crap – would love to show them .

I would love to have this free cert! I currently work with lots of junior high and high school youth of all levels. I also regard Latif Thomas as an amazing resource in athletic development. I am always open to embrace knowlege and training templates that can further my professional development. Plus, I know it is a quality resource if Dr. Kwame Brown is involved.

I probably don’t deserve this more than anyone else, but I would at least like to be considered.

I have been training athletes in speed for the last 6 years. I have a passion for helping kids become more athletic so they can achieve their individual dreams. I believe that a coach, trainer, teacher or physical therapist can impact an athlete in different ways. I would like to be that speed trainer that really made a difference in their life. The only way I can do that aside from purely being interested in each individual I train, is to learn from the best.

That’s it. No dissertation….just straight talk.

Thank you for the opportunity.

Well lets get to the point I am 26 years old and I am still chasing the dream of playing in the NBA, I have already been to 4 professional tryouts and haven’t been successful yet. I recently found information about complete speed training, roughly 5 months ago. I haven’t purchased the material yet because I am unemployed at the moment. I quit my job, as a customer service rep. in a call center, after I got cut from my third tryout in August of last year. I left my apartment and moved in the house with my brothers were I have no financial obligations so that I could research and train full time for the tryouts that were held in June of this year,…….STILL NOT READY, GOT CUT AGAIN. (I get into the YMCA for free, I worked there while in high school and threw college so I have a facility for training ) . I found information about performance training about a month before my tryouts this year, all the information has been wonderful and I am looking for more knowledge to take to my tryouts next year. I was introduced to this facility called Velocity Sports Performance sponsored by Nike SPARQ also around the time I found out about complete speed training. As soon as I found another job I will be able to purchase complete speed training, start training at Velocity and purchase some new equipment. I already have the essentials like the agility ladder, parachute, speed nodes, speed hurdles, medicine balls, bosu, different books and CD’s, But I am looking forward to purchasing my push pull sled, and plyo boxes from Wolverine Sports, along with Ground Breaking Athletic Movement and Basketball Speed from Latif’s site Athletes Acceleration. All this information about sports performance is new to me, all my workouts in the past were geared to size and not performance. I would greatly appreciate any knowledge that you are willing to share. I have set some high goals for 2010 and I believe your knowledge and information will help my reach my endeavors.

Thank you in advance

Hello Gentleman
i am a football coach for jr high and i believe in speed. I also teach a fitness class for jr high age students in the winter/spring and i do this all free of charge for the simple reason children are over weight and out of shape due to the way they live today. i would greatly appriticaiate the chance to teach them something new that will keep them coming year after year.

How do you determine the best event for one of your runners? For example, my son runs cross country in the fall and the 800 and 4X800 relay for track. He is pretty good at cross country but he has a great kick at the end and used to run like a deer on the soccer and baseball fields, so I think he could run a 400, but his cross country coach is also the distance coach on the track team. He was supposed to run a 400 in one meet last year but it never happened for some reason, and I am still left wondering if he is running the right event. He trained at a Velocity speed camp and greatly reduced his times in cross country but his coach said he thought speed training indoors was a waste of time and that he needed to put on miles. Yes, I have your CST program but not your program for sprinters. I was a track manager in HS and ran XC events in college, but I am not a XC or track coach. I just try to learn what I can to help my own kids and other kids that I coach in other sports (softball and basketball) with their running. Help!

For the last 3 years I have dedicated my time to learning as much as possible about speed training and sports training. I started my own company called Speedability and have winter camps starting in November. In the last few months I have learned alot from you and your company. I continue to learn more and more every day giving me the joy of helping as many athletes as possible. Having a certification not only shows your athletes that you are qualified and knowledgeable it proves your dedication and commitment to success.” Every shot not taken is a missed opportunity to score”

Hi Brian,

As a former non professional athlete who wasnt quite good enough to make the big time I know the importance that Speed and agility has in making a difference in performance, that is why now i coach athletes with the goal of not only increasing performance in other areas but making sure that my athletes win the race to the ball on most occasions. Having learnt a heap already has definately helped but having a professional certification and system as good as yours i think will greatly enhance my coaching ability as well as my athletes ability.

Dear Brian,

I’m a former college football player for the Univ of Florida and i recently launched a new venture to hold speed camps and positional camps (football). We decided at the very beginning to make this business special and something that no other business does. Give away 15% of EACH AND EVERY camp we hold. We choose a different charity or individual that really needs a helping hand each camp and donate that percentage to. The only thing we require is that if the person is physically able to do a community service we have them do so. Whether it’s spending time at a Veteran’s Hospital or volunteering at a Children’s hospital or Hospice facility. It’s my way of “paying it forward”. This course would be a tremendous boost to us being that we are very limited financially. All that i have spoken of here can be verified and proven that these aren’t just words so that we may get the course for free. We REALLY take pride in this. I am a cancer survivor (5 years clean now) who was given a Stem Cell transplant. I figure i can make a living while not only helping young athletes become better and much faster athletes while also teaching them to do their part in each of their communities. I’ve got my fingers crossed to get your course but if not, it was incredible for you guys to offer the opportunity even.

First of all thank you for all the information you provide. I would love to gain a certification in speed & quickness. There are so many good athletes in my area/province (Nova Scotia) who can become very good and even great athletes with the correct training. I have a good base of knowledge for training with a Personal Trainer certification and a lot of self research into speed and quickness, however I know I can become much better and more specific to young athletes with your help. Over the years I have given my services away and therefore have not had the funds to obtain full certifications, well this gives me an opportunity to do that and continue to help athletes reach their potential while keeping costs down and even continueing giving it free because I just love seeing people develop to their potential. I just want enhance my knowledge so I can assist youth in enhancing their abilities which can lead to on field/court excellence and scholarship opportunities. Your gift to me with this certification will be paid forward.

Brian-

As a YFS Level 1 trainer, I feel that holding the speed specialist certification can help take me to the next level of bringing new tips and tricks to my athletes!

This past summer I held a speed camp at a local elementary school.. to my disappointment, only 4 local athletes attended (the truly dedicated, serious ones). We (my boss and I) only had a few weeks to market it so party our fault for not getting the word out sooner, but either way attendance was a bit lower than we had anticipated. It was my first camp ever (ran it by myself and did all of the planning and programming myself) and yielded pretty good results, but I know I can always do better!

As a HUGE advocate of PROPER and SMART training for enhanced overall athletic development, I would be honored to be picked as the one to receive this generous gift. I love working with athletes, hell it is my passion. I myself have been fascinated and pretty much obsessed with training myself and my athletes to become the ultimate athlete; quick, strong, agile, explosive, and fast. After all, speed kills in any sport.. This is a wonderful opportunity to be able to further my credentials in my young career (23 yrs old) and help athletes that once thought they could NEVER get faster, achieve something that blows their minds. It truly is the greatest feeling to help an athlete reach their goals..

Anyways, good luck to all and I look forward to the webinar on Monday.

I have access to to training kids and think I do a pretty good job. I have workied w/ tennis players, soccer players and rugby players. The athletes all have different levels of natural ability and desire (and parental input!). I am confortable getting any type of athlete more athletic and in better shape, my weak link is speed training! Look forward to the course!

So I’ve been reading through some of these passionate essays and it does seem that most people are passionate about the sport they either play or coach, have worked pretty hard to get where they are and desperately want to find a way to excel in their area and be # 1. Some have also had a lot of obstacles along their path to succeed in their sport. I have certainly had all those things also if not more so but I don’t think I should bore you with details because you have heard atleast 155 of them so far.
Instead I think the question of “deserving” a certification should be addressed. There are theories that say those who have worked the hardest and have the most potential of success should be the most derserving. I agree with this theory and so I’m claiming that I have worked very hard and am extremely passionate despite obstacles and so I have a lot pf potential for success.
Evidence to that claim is too lengthy unfortunately so I’ll let it remain this way. I think I have myself come very far in terms of physical training, particularly speed and agility training as well as helped others learn what I have learned. Both those things have given me great joy. I want to continue in experiencing this sense of satisfaction and so I think I am deserving of this certification.

Not that I care about the certification, which is nice it is the information I feel I have EARNED the right to receive. I am one of two certified Youth Fitness Specialists in Montana. I looked it up. I have told many current trainers in my area and a few people involved with youth sports about the IYCA. I am attempting to get my area caught up with the times. I am currently working with a local high school football team and in the process to get more group training going. I am an information hound. I want more knowledge to pass on to improve our future generations not just physically but empower them to make huge changes in our society. I feel my area youth need this information more than anything. It just so happens I am the vehicle to transfer this information. The knowledge I have gained thus far has been amazing. I should thank you more often.

Hi Brian,
As I mentioned previously I have an outstanding opportunity to work with kids in and out side of the clinic. Most of the work I do with the kids is core and body mechanics positioning, the prehab and post rehab work that I do with them is based on injury prevention and/or performance enhancement. What I am looking to the most from your DVD’s are the correct verbiage and language to get the kids into the best positions to accelerate. I fortunately have found a way to get them to listen to me long enough to build up the core and flexibility, but I truly lack the confidence beyond that for their speed and acceleration training. Brain I can’t tell you how much this come to me at the best time, as I mentioned before I just opened my own business. I base my training off what I find from the “FMS” screens and take it from there, having better knowledge on speed training will tremendously improve my services I provide for the kids! Thank you so much in advance!!

As a Volunteer Youth Director I have been entrusted with about 800 youths. I have donated all my time as well financial support to keep the youth busy in positive events. I am a Nutritionist and Fitness coach, with a niche in soccer. I have assisted with a new soccer league that has30 soccer teams and I find myself with very little time to help them all.

My desire is to be able to obtain this certification and also have the rest of the coaches invest as well to help the kids. The kids have a strong desire to play soccer but, unfortunately because of lack of preparation they are not reaching their potential. We have had some injuries and with the education that they will receive it can contribute to lessen the amount of injuries. Also, this help increase their self-esteem as some get bit up pretty bad with high scoring because many of them are very slow and have very limited skills.

Giving back to the community has been a joy for me to do and it will be nice to have this awarded to continue to help others. My involment with soccer coaches it’s huge and I will make sure they get to hear about this certification because I strongly believe and support the project you are doing to raise awareness for proper training among youths.

It is with great pleasure and honor that I will accept this certification at NO CHARGE knowing the responsibility that comes with a gift and with that said, I will do my best to my ability to pass this forward. Thank you for you consideration and continue with a great job you and your staff are doing. Let’s lock arms and make the environment for youths a much better place where they can enjoy peace, health and harmony.

In good health,

I am currently a post high school athlete about to begin my college career in the spring. I have been out of football for about 2 years now and have never wanted something so bad as I want to play again. Just for example in the past month I have probubly put in more effort to my lifting alone than I put into my sophmore through senior years combined in high school. At this present time I have a shortage of knowlege on how to gain the advantage on the speed end of my game. I’ve worked with professional trainers on the lifting end of my game and have that all set down for me. Now I just need what every athlete needs to gain the advantage SPEED. As I said before this is something that I want with a passion, and speed is what will give me the advantage to achieve that goal.

G’day Brian
Youth fitness is a real passion for me and i beleive the iyca systems in teaching college students has been a tremendous benefit to the kids. I have spent a lot of time in the last term teaching prep and efficency in all movement patterns
Speed and agility are two skills that i have focused on with all my teams this year and i would really appreciate the opportunity to become a certified specialist in this field

Cheers

Brian,

Unfortunately for me I don’t think you should give me the free speed and agility program over
some of the other great coaches who’ve emailed in. But I would encourage you to dream
bigger than just this one giveaway. It seems you have a great opportunity here, you’ve tapped
into a group of people who devote their time and energy to helping young athletes, like yourself.

I salute all of them and wish there was some way you could be compensated monetarily
and otherwise by helping all of them. So, put your thinking cap on for the next few days
and dream big. I’m positive something really special and earth shattering is on tap for next Monday!

Make a difference,

Rick Popp

Hi Brian,

Same old same old, produces the same old results. Having worked in the Sport industry for a number of years I know that you can’t afford to stand still, and that while accepted best practice has validity, top coaches have to assimilate the new into their delivery.

I work with a network of coaches and we constantly strive to keep our training programme innovative, exciting and challenging: we see engagement of our athletes as the cornerstone of our success which is why we look for quality delivery.

My pitch is working with talented individuals; they have their own particular needs and deserve the opportunity to maximise their own potential.

If the volume of marketing is in any correlated to quality, the product should be good :) . I hope it will help us keep our programmes at the forefront of athletics.

Dear Brian,

I have been conducting free Speed and Agility Clinics to youth ages 5-14. My mission with these clinics is to teach the basic fundamentals of athleticism. A lot of kids have improved temendously and a lot of parents are very pleased. However, I have been reaching a small number of athletes, approximately 50. So in order to reach more kids, I have been going into the elementary schools and conducting the same clinics. Now I am reaching approximately 1100 kids…for FREE. Your course will help me to simplify and streamline what I am doing. The value of your information is priceless. So please consider my mission for your course.

Thanks in advanced,

Dear Brian,

Thank you for the opportunity to grow & develop as a professional, adding value and scientific methodology to Youth conditioning. I would love to have the privelege of doing the course ro enable me to reach more children and add value top their athletic development. I also run free seminars for schools and coaches from disadvantaged backgrounds in South Africa and the knowledge and expertise i have been able to pass on and would be able to continue to pass on has enormous value to these amazing people.

Should someone else be more worthy of being awarded this amazing opportunity, I wish them the very best in sharing their knowledge with the youth athletes in their sphere of influence.

Dear Brian

Would love to receive your certificate. I currently coach track and field athletes aged 13 to 16. I have thru CPS brought these athletes to national titles. I have recently been asked to coach two football teams in the age group 13 to 14yrs, to help with their speed and acceleration. I feel your course would help me to understand better and simplify coaching to these teams. I am very confident when it comes to track and field but not so when it comes to football. The information from your course would be extremely valuable.

Brian,

One aspect of my business is working with adults who want to improve their race times for the triathlons, marathons, or even their 5k races. I do feel that your certification would be beneficial to me in order to help these clients achieve their goals.

With regard to children, I work primarily with non-athletic, sedentary and overweight children. My passion is to help these children to love exercise and themselves. The children are performing general exercises to improve their overall health.

On a personal note, I have 2 children who are very active in sports. Both are in cross country and volleyball. This certification would be very helpful for them to improve their skills. I have always been asked my advice from other parents with regard to improving their child’s strength, now I could help them improve their speed and agility! This would also inspire me and give me the knowledge needed to hold workshops and clinics for these young athletes!

Thank you for the opportunity and all you’ve done in Youth Coaching. I quote you daily and am inspired by your enthusiasm!!

Brian,

First, i would like to thank you for the opportunity of being able to be considered for this certification. I am a middle school and high school basketball coach, and i also coach high school baseball. I am fro ma small town, and i would like the opprotunity to offer the children of our town and neighboring towns, the opportunity to become better athletes in general. I also would love to have the knowlegde myself, so that i can answer those who take it among themselves to seek knowledge.
Other than that, i am currently unemployed, due to our factory laying off over 200 people, i would like the opportunity to start a business, that will help put food on the table, but more than that, let me offer the opportunity to hire hard working, caring, passionate individuals like myself, and share the knowledge of speed training with those that seek it.

This is why i think i deserve to receive free speed certification. I am a behavior counselor and a part time trainer that has been recovering from a bad knee surgery for the past three months. I am unable to return to my behavior counselr job because of the physical demands such as restraining patients when they try to attack you and so my only real source of income is from my personal training and i can only do that for a couple of hours because i cant be on my leg but so long before my knee swells up. Its has been difficult trying to pick up new clients when you are gaining weight and i just have been cleared to do some cardio or as musch as i can take. I desire to make personal training my new career but i am still waiting to have another knee surgery this month and so things have been really challenging for me. I believe that if i get this opportunity to receive this speed certification than i can earn some real income to help get through these rough times. This is why i think i deserve a chance to receive this speed certification because i know it can help me make more money and be able to take care of my family because children and parents are always asking how they can get there children fast and alot of people cant afford to send there kids to velocity training. Thanks for the opportunity

Ever since I was introduced to track and field in the 8th grade, I have developed a love for the sport. I ran throughout Junior High,High School and two years in college. While I was in college I got my first taste of coaching (I was only 19 years old). In the summer time, I would go back to my hometown of Fresno, CA and help out with a summer track team there. I was fortunate to find a teaching job after college in Atlanta, GA and started to volunteer as a coach for the track team. It must have been perfect timing because the very next year the head track coach left the school and recommended me as his successor. I have now been coaching for five years at a predominately Hispanic school. The team was known as a “PE squad” in comparison to other powerhouse schools in the region. I am proud to say that in the short period of time as head coach, we have had 2 regional champions, 8 state qualifiers, numerous #1 regional rankings and 1 invitational championship. I love what I do. And I am sought out by all the coaches at my school to help build strength and speed in their athletes. Even though our school is not known (yet) for sports, I truly believe that I am here for a purpose and I know that the programs that you offer will go to good use and it will propel us to the next level. This much I can guarantee, I am a student of the sport and your program will be utilized to it’s fullest extent.

Mr Grasso

I have a daughter 15yrs old Madison Rayfield that runs track at East Forsyth High School, Kernersville NC as a sophmore this year. She is a real natural talent that I believe could benefit greatly from the Speed Certification program. She was Metro 4A conference champion in the 100M and 200M as a freshman running a 12.61 100M and a 25.74 200M. She is doing alot of core work with a performance coach but I am very impressed by the materials on the Speed Certification program released so far. Her sprint starts and stride length are not optimum and she does not make full use of the drive phase forward lean to get maximum force at the race start. I would like to receive the course to supplement her sprint training program.

Thanks

I am the owner/head coach of an indoor football an I also coach youth football, & select football I would love to be able to teach my athletes how to be faster. I believe it is crucial in all sports to be able to play fast. The certificate would be helpful to me as a personal trainer also.

If I get a copy of the certificate, I would create a link on my team website, in order to bring more awareness to your training materials.

Thanks Coach McGee

I can tell you why I want this so bad. About nine years ago I moved to the state of Washington from Oklahoma, I had been a football and track coach in Oklahoma and a physical education teacher and still do the same in Washington. I became the head track my 2nd year in Washington and having come from a school with some athletes that could flat out run I thought that automatically made me a great coach, I did work at it very hard doing more things than what most coaches do which is also what I thought made me a great coach but after going to my first meet in Washington and scoring very few points at the meet and not winning any events I imediately knew I had to change what I was doing. After searching for a couple of years and some trial and error I came across Latif Thomas which then lead me to Lee Taft, Jason Ferrugia, and you. I now know that I am speaking a language to the kids that I coach that they understand and now desire which in turn has made me to want to learn even more and I to would like to spread the word to what you guys have made available to make sure that athletes in my area are getting the right information so that they too can perform at there best just like the kids I get to teach everyday in my school district. In Janurary I am going to get my Level 1 certification USA track and field and I am going to work for your IYAC youth certification this year, so this speed certification is also something that I want hoping that it will help me to become even more credible in the area of athlete development so that I can spread the knowledge.

Hi Brian,

Great tips on the video page.

My WHY: I’m sure you want to insure that whoever you GIVE this program to is going to help the most number of people. THAT is what I”m committed to doing. I live in a community where youth sports is very big, but I’m sure most people can say that, and presently there aren’t any GOOD youth coaching programs that exist in my community. I’m confident that with my marketing knowledge and my passion for helping youth I could deliver a successful, professional and credible youth speed camp to the youth of my community.

I’ve listened to, and read, several (possibly hundreds) of your emails and heard you talk about not making price a barrier to helping kids. So, should I receive the program I would take my new knowledge to the less affluent area’s of my community and , I’m certain, make a huge impact in those kids lives.

Thank you for this opportunity.

I’m not much for yappin or beggin, so I’ll keep it short and simple. I know I’ll be getting the best info from the best in the sports and speed arena. As a life-time athlete I live this stuff and I know speed is one of the biggest indicators of strong and coniditioned athletes. This will be another weapon in my arsenal to help transform the average competitive athlete into a dominant and highly competitive athlete.

Here are just a few reasons why I feel as though I would benefit from your Speed & Agility Specialist Certification; and why I feel as though you would want me to have your Speed & Agility Specialist Certification.

The first and probably the most important is that as a professional I realize that I do not know everything. As a professional you can only continue to get better by learning from other professionals. I look at view this certification as a great opportunity to learn more about my profession from two of the top coaches in the industry.

The second reason I feel as though I would be a good candidate for the certification is because of how I approach my training. As a high school strength coach, I pride myself on not just showing drills, but rather educate my athletes on the proper technique and application to sport for each drill. A drill is only as effective as your teaching of it. If you can’t teach the proper technique of the drill and be able to educate your athletes on how it applies to their sport, then the drill cannot be effective. I believe that your certification will help me to better educate my athletes on the proper use and techniques needed to help improve their overall athleticism.

In closing I believe I would make a great candidate for the Speed & Agility Specialist Certification. I believe that such a certification would not only improve my knowledge, but more importantly help me to better train and to my athletes.
Sincerely,

Todd M. Barnes MS, CSCS, NASM-PES

Hey Brian,

I appreciate professional coaches like you, helping inexperienced coaches like myself. I”ve been coaching track for 2 years now. My age group kids consist of 7th & 8th graders. I have some very talented kids, whom in there track & field curcuit has won it all in the past 2 years, but not so well in the USTA. I believe these kids have what it takes to go to the Jr. Olympics. But I have noticed during this past season their has been very little improvement. Now these kids are just naturally fast with no real program in place. I got involved with coaching track by default, they needed a volunteer for the older group so I stepped up. I have to say since that time I’ve become passionate about track, but I need to learn how to be a track coach. My goal is to see these athlete’s excel and go beyond their natural ability. Now I’m willing to do what it takes to become more informed about being a better track coach, so I can prepare the athlete’s, not only for the upcoming season, but for high school as well.

Thanks So Much
ValDino

I feel that I should get a copy of the speed & agility program because as Fitness Trainer for the Federal Bureau of Prison, I think the speed and agility will be helpful to Correctional Officer on the Distrubance Control Team in building up there quick step or first step it will also help the Officer who have to respond very quickly to emergency on a prison yard or cell were moving in mutiple directions is required when running through hallways and corridor. Even the though the certification is for youth training I think due to the point that most of the officer have not sprinted or moved quickly in different directions for years this program will help me improve there abilities.

I’m very interested in this but I have a little problem…I’m a school teacher and everytime one of the webinars is offered I’m with my class. I teach Special Ed at a very small school in West Virginia. I’m interested in this because I coach HS football. Over the last two years I’ve implemented a weight training program at the HS. I’ve made it school wide accessable. All athletes or non athletes male, female it doesn’t matter. If your wanting to get bigger, faster, stronger then I invite all to participate. I’ve now included speed training, agilities, and plyometrics. (Our football team went from having a 33 game losing streak to two wins last year and this year to date we are currently in the playoff hunt) Kids are starting to buy into it and it shows! Our girls soccer team was ranked #1 in the state until a recent loss dropped them a little. Over the last 6 months I’ve attened four clinics to learn more about speed training, agilities, and plyometrics. I’ve made contacts with WVU’s and Virginia Tech’s strength and conditioning staff. I aquired the text book to begin studying so I can possibly become C.S.C.S certified. This has truly become my passion. If I qualify I’m going to attempt to do an internship at the University of Virginia this next summer as part of their strength staff. My ultimate goal is I want to be on a strength and conditioning staff at the college level. With your help I feel it would help lead me further into the direction I’m going. This is why i feel I would be a good choice. I’m a sponge trying to absorb as much as possible to make ALL athletes better. Please if you know a way i can participate in your webinars I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you for your time,
Jonathan Kirk

I am interested in this certification because I enjoy working with kids. I currently teach a fit academy class for 6-12 year olds and absolutly love it. This age group seems to be left out sometimes. This is time to build the foundation for a lifetime of health and fitness. The childhood obesity epidemic is also a great concern of mine. I want to do what I can for kids to see that exercise and nutrition are fun and that it does not take a lot of effort to make good choices and changes in your life. I was a chubby kid growing up. I did not become really active/healthy until high school. I am now a presonal trainer and am passing down my good habits to my family and I hope to do the same for other families/kids. Thank you for your time.

Hey Brian,
Ok, I’m not a big blogger or feedback kind of guy. I’m more of a sit back and observe and soak it all in kind-of dude. Here is a quick cap of me: I have been in the health/fitness industry for over 20 years. I’ve been the insecure, tough-guy. I’ve been the highschool football jock. I’ve been the bodybuilder. Here is my point; IT’S ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT ME. I am 36 yrs old and it’s time to give back. To contribute to the Youth community in a positive way. I want to motivate, inspire and give kids what they need to excel in both sports and lifestyle habits.

Brian, I have purchaced your program, ‘Complete Athlete Developement’ and have been completely submerged in the content. Listening in the car, on the Ipod while mowing the yard, at work, etc. My wife thinks iv’e lost my mind! Great stuff man! I was a little hesitant on purchasing because money is tight. I’m a builder and the industry has taken a dump. But, i’m glad I didn’t pass on it.

Ok, so here’s the deal. I’m planning on opening my own business. I live in a little town where sports are BIG and I need all the information I can get my hands on. Quality info. I can not believe how much crap is out there! Your audio cd’s are packed with outstanding information.

Anyway, Just wanted to introduce myself to you and to thank you for making a profound inpact on me. You’re my ‘North Star’ in this new chapter of my life. As for the free certificate, I don’t know if I deserve it but, (If I follow in your foot steps) I will someday.

Thanks again! J Swanson

I’m in the process of developing a program for pre-teens. Mastering the techniques of different types of training for different sports is essential in their development. And SPEED is necessary in ALL sports. So let’s get these kids on the right track…doing things properly, safely and FAST!!

October 2, 2009

why do i want the free speed cetification? to make my kids faster of course!! I am a personal trainer who works with young athletes in sports including baseball baskettball and the sport of triathlon. i organize two kids triathlons and work with the kids to get them fitter and faster. and from what i have read from the comments about your program you have the best tools to acheive the ever desired SPEED!! I work with a lot of adults as well so I like to work with kids for a very low cost to them sometimes free. I feel the need to give back to our future generation of athletes and fit citizens. I hope you have found enough info in my request for the certification.
thanks,
Carl

Brian,
I am a former collegiate and semi-professional women’s soccer player, a current school-based licensed physical therapist, girls soccer team trainer, volunteer soccer coach (ages 3-8), and a mom of three kids who play various sports and have tremendous athletic potential. I became informed about your organization about a year ago and I completely buy into your mission. I am working on my level one certification and own your Complete Athletic Development System as well.
In your question and answer video regarding your new speed and agility certification you spoke about who this would benefit. This system would transcend every discipline that I am involved in. I visualize how I can utilize this information in my work with children with disabilities to improve their daily gross motor function. I imaginine weaving this into soccer sessions for the female soccer players I train and the little ones just starting their athletic endeavors to improve their athletic abilities. Finally, I can play around in the back yard with my own kids teaching them this knowledge so the can achieve their potential, knowledge I know would have helped me in my playing days. I would put this system to great use and many kids of all abilities would benefit. Thank you for this opportunity.
Sincerely,
Jennifer McGovern, PT

i would like the free traing to be able to pass it on kids, teens and staff and other volunteers. I volunteer with a boys and girls club that offers intro sports programs to kids, along with other various programs. We target kids that can’t afford organized sports. We try to teach them sportsmanship and team work skills, skills taht they cabn carry forward to other areas of their life. However, we also try to teach them skills that they can use to make various sports teams at their schools, teams that don’t cost a lot of money. I see what the costs are for personal training and I also see that kids with money get to reap teh benefits. I’d liek to be able to share the benefits of teh training with kids that would never get the chance to attend thuis type of training. I’d liek to see them get some of the opportunities that other kids an dteens have.

Thanks.

i used to be a high school bball coach and also had a very sucessful aau program helping many athletes obtain scholarships to attend college. unlike many programs, mine was non profit and i did it because i enjoy the rewards of helping young men grow through athletics. I have had to retire from work early due to a medical disability. I run a free basketball clinic 3 days a week to aid local high school basketball players, i hope to aid them in being varsity players and maybe some for college. i have quite a bit of knowledge in regard to basketball skills development and i have pretty good knowledge of developing the athlete, but we can always be better by learning and keeping up with new and better training techniques. I don’t know how much longer I can do the clinic, but while I’m doing it, I want to provide them with the best training I can. It’s really that simple. Their training is the most important thing I do every week, I guess second most important as taking my medications and trying to stay alive is first! It’s my way of giving back as I have been blessed with a great family and a great life. sincerely, Charlie

ITS ALL ABOUT THE Youth!!! We OWE it to our youth to provide them with the BEST opportunity to develop the necessary skills and techniques involved in speed. I am Glad that we now have the BLUEPRINT on how to TEACH speed. Above all else, I feel that I should recieve a free copy because our youth and youth coaches need to be exposed to this product! Its like the slogan, “No child Left Behind”.

We need to establish this program as T-H-E premier program that ALL coaches should learn and use when coaching speed. I reside in the DC area and this is a program that can change the lives of many right here where policies and laws are made everyday. Lets stop hiding the truth from our kids and giving them less than what they deserve. Youth speed certification is just one of the many certifications offered by IYCA that our coaches NEED to change the lives of our youth!

Lastly, SPEED is probably the number one skill that every athlete seeks. EXPOSURE and Understanding to the principles laid out in the youth speed certification program will affect many youth and coaches in our quest to TEACH speed the right way.

My reason is quite simple, my son is a freshman in high school and he has excellent soccer skills but lacks the speed and agilty to play at the next level. His high school coach is not a soccer person, claims to be a track coach yet he does nothing to help his player improvie their speed or agility. The school has some great athletes, but no one to help them improve in these two areas that can mean the difference between playing at the nexgt level, or even being successful at this level.

My interest is not makiing money with this, my goal is to spend the rest of my life giving my time to working with my two sons and our local high school teams over the next 25 years to see how many players I can help achieve their dream of playing soccer in high school and perhaps well beyond. There is a lot of talent unrealised in our area, and the kind of guidance and attention I can offer through this certification can change a lot of people’s lives.

Brian,

First off I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to have a chance to be a part of the fee webinar and to be considered for the youth certification. I am a private strength and conditioning working with athletes ranging from youth to the college level. Within the last year I have been getting more and more into working with the younger players. I feel I have been doing a god job with the athletes I have working with, but I always feel like I need to learn more! I am always reading your information as well as Lee’s, I feel to be a better coach/trainer you need to read and learn as much as you can. I would love to have the chance to receive you youth certification and I am looking forward to the webinar.

Thank, Brian

I am interested on this to be able to help my 11 years old son (competitive soccer player) with his athletic development.

I played my self for 15 years back in Spain and retrospectively I think we learned many things about speed and multi-directional movement in the hard way: trying and determining what works. This is usually a very ineffective way to develop a young athlete, regardless the sport. I have not any formal experience as a coach but based on the many years of training (soccer and track) I have a reasonable understanding of what is involved in athletic development.

I am surprised that almost 40 years later, most sport-specific coaches continue to ignore the benefits of teaching the fundamentals of speed, agility and multidirectional movements.

New to coaching track and field and always looking for unique workouts that will apply to other sports for our athletes. Many kids run track for other sports so I like to incorporate some other training (especially during conditioning days). I would love to see your agility and speed training so I would have this knowledge to pass on to our athletes for off-season workouts, etc. Thanks.

Hi Brian:

As you know I am writing to you regarding a passionate entry on why I would like a certification in speed and agillity. Well I’m not one to attempt for hand-outs or look for the easy way out of things…As a matter of fact I work very hard and I expect the same for all the participants involved in my training sessions…I never look for the “easy way” out of anything. My experience has shown that if you never worked for anything you would never appreciate anything.
I’m a single Dad…and let me tell you there are NO EASY AVENUES for DAds. All the financial support and lobbies are for the mother’s…Hardly any..if any for Dads…We are totally on our own with hardly any support from any organization.
This being said…with the current economical crisis…its been very hard for me and my children…I just keep pushing on…using the same level of determination…and “NEVER QUIT” attitude I enforce in my children as well as my training participants.
If a certification in this field would help me support my children and provide for a better training experience for my participants…so be it..

Hi Brian,
First of all thank you for this opportunity . I want to learn more speed training drills for my son because my son plays soccer and he is very good at it but his speed is slow. If you give me the training drills I mostly think he will improve his speed. When he will imprve his speed and go in the higher level he will alwayes remember you because you are the one that coached him how to develop his speed.I will really appriciate it.Lastly my son and me will be so happy if you give us this opportunity.
Thank,

Brian,

After watching your video I find myself in the very same boat. Constantly reading, searching journals for significant differences in training groups and adjusting my methods with every book and/or article I read. I just want to know what works and after having watched Lee’s Low Box Drills, I know that Lee’s way is it.
But also, I want to have something in addition to my CSCS. I want to be part of the IYCA family and I want to be the first in my town to have this. Again, I want to be a leader. I want to be the Starbucks of our town. There is a HUGE market here. This is one of the things I love about the IYCA and that I share when people ask about what certification to get.
The IYCA not only gives you the tools to improve your knowledge and skill set, but also tools to get yourself out into the community and get people in to experience the surefire methods of an IYCA specialist. I want to help the community of kids who are looking to their high school coaches for “speed and agility” training that we both know tends to be from the last century. This is why I want this certification.

Thanks for the opportunity Brian.

Interested in speed and strengthening for sprinters/jumpers up to 800m. Also, speed and agility for throwers. I have started a first time track and field program at MassBay CC. I was a former Div I middle distance runner, high school coach and personal coach for NCAA Div 1 runners. I am working with athletes who may not have had a lot of structured training. It has been a number of years since I have been engaged in this field as I have been a professor of Leadership/Management. I need to get caught up…….

I also am currently studying to be a professional fitness trainer and I love learning as many different opinions and how to train myself as well as future trainees of mine the most effectively. Thanks for all the free knowledge you have given me already, it has supplied me with much information that I would not have had other wise.

Right now, I am in my Junior year in high school. I have been playing soccer and running track for my school since Freshman year. For all three years, I have been the slowest runner and sprinter on both teams. I do sprint training and practice hard but i have seen very little improvement. Next year, my Senior year in high school, is my last chance to show everyone what i can do. Your speed and agility certification can help me. If you can give me a free copy, i would be extremely happy.
Thank you very much,

Hey Brian,

Big Thank You for putting this together and giving it away. I would really love and appreciate this Speed Certification that you are offering. “Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime.” This is symbolically what I want to give to all my athletes and family members. I want to give them the ability to enjoy their bodies and athletic potential for their entire lives. Being able to run, jump and “play” is an honest expression of freedom. Using our body to create and accomplish goals is key to unlocking the door to creating boundless confidence. This certification will only add to the credibility and confidence that goes with teaching/learning the fundamentals of pure speed.

See you over the web,

Marco

October 2, 2009

Hey Brian, Lee & Latif, when I first received this email on possibly receiving the speed certification and all the extra stuff I couldn’t believe my eyes…quite frankly I started to tear up because 2008 into 2009 has been a real disaster for me. Let me backup and introduce myself. My name is Marceleus Venable a certified NSCA-CPT and Youth Fitness Specialist Level One Trainer. I am the owner of P.R.I.D.E. METHOD,LLC which stands for Positive Results In Daily Exercise. Under this my business works two-fold: 1) BURN! 30minute workout for those looking for general weight training and weight loss and 2)S.A.T.S.(student athlete training systems). My passion and love is for the development of young athletes thru sport-specific training, conditioning and personal development. My primary focus is to improve the movement quality of young athletes thru lateral speed and multi-directional training, but lifting this training program off the ground has been a major major struggle. For those who do know me or get the opportunity to know me know that I am very passionate, energetic, intense and most of all I love kids. They also know that I don’t complain, make excuses or want anyone to feel sorry for me if things do not go my way. My desire has always been to pave a path for others to follow so that their road is much easier for them to achieve success. The opportunity like this comes at a very critical time. Right now my business has taken body blows left and right and has left me barely scraping by. Currently I sleep on the floor of a buddy of mines apartment and my eating has been reduced to the Oodles of Noodles diet. I still have a core of clientele who still train with me but the money generated from them goes to the bare necessities if that. When I am not training, my days are spent at the library plugging away trying to get me and my business back on its feet. I definitely have read and learned alot from you guys and have spent countless hours dreaming of the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of you guys because I believe in you and I believe in your products and what you guys have done for the industry and the training philosophy you guys present to your athletes. I believe that this program will do wonders for me, but more importantly for the athletes that I currently train and the prospective ones as well. In saying all of this, if I am the chosen one I will not let you down! Even though I have been knocked down on my ass and punched in the gut by a Mike Tyson like uppercut I am still standing and I know I will win! All I need is for someone to give me a chance, a yes, a helping hand to guide me to the great success that you guys have. Thanks again for the great things that you guys produce and choose Marceleus Venable. Just show me a 1% confidence I will earn the 99.

I am an athete myself who plays soccer I have taken up speed training for about 3 months now and I have been applying your principles and tips combining that with my coaches which is almost the same thing and I have not seen any major improvements maybe this will help. Thamks.

I am using a walker… and i am teaching a beginning class called Ready-Set-Run. How is that for ironic? I have been an extremely competitive athlete all my life, but never had one ounce of proper conditioning, strength training, or speed training. The boys always got some, but us girls got Phy-ed teachers who were very old school with everything and knew nothing!

I have had numerous surgeries for joint problems, I have severe osteo-arthritis so i can’t keep playing my sports, but i can continue to coach (have been for 30+ years) and i can teach. I don’t want kids to end up like me – in pain every minute of every day. I love working with kids – i still relate well with them and I look to professionals such as yourself to help me teach them properly. I could really use the free program as i still have many doctor bills to pay off and our Rec Dept is great but doesn’t pay great. I don’t do it for the money anyways.

Thank you for your consideration.

Brian,

I am the defensive line coach for the football team at the high school I teach at. I’m also the strength coach during the off-season. I’d like to be the strength & conditioning coach but I feel that the other coaches are iffy about my speed & conditioning knowledge. I’ve started doing some of the conditioning but this certification would help me prove to them that I can take it on completely.

Thanks,

I recently received my personal training certification, athletic performance has always interested me and how to improve it. Now that I have children I want my knowledge to be based on the most recent, updated information so I can pass that along. I want to teach my children, youth I coach, adults I train and myself these speed and agility principles. Thank you.

Hi Brian,

Well… After all our talks over the years I have realized that your another ’special type of guy’ who understands the intricate process of teaching young athletes… not just from skills and drills, but from the point of motivation and communication with parents.

As you know… I specialize in working with amateur wrestlers who want to gain strength, stamina and control their weight for ultimate mat success…

I’ve always felt as if your knowledge of youth conditioning as well as speed and agility training were top notch…

Personally… the one thing I want to add to this post to secure my request for MORE of your intrinsic knowledge is that TODAY is the day I found out that my wife and I ARE pregnant… Yes, at 42 years young (and still a force to be reckoned with :) ) I’m gonna be a daddy! Although this isn’t exactly relevant… it IS a sign. I’m the HAPPIEST MAN IN THE WORLD TODAY and wanted to share my great news with you… Perhaps my good fortune will spill over to gaining more knowledge to helping more kids become the best athletes ever!

Best to you and your family my friend…

Dear Brian,
Over the past 10 years I have coached soccer teams in winter and (nippers) Junior Surf Lifesaving
in summer in Australia. As a volunteer I have dedicated countless hours researching the “best practice” techniques for these juniors. During this time we have grown our local surf club (North Bondi Surf Club, Sydney, Australia) junior numbers from 400 to over 850. My Vision is for all of the many junior sports people I train each week to (1) Enjoy sport (2) Learn new skills (3) Show respect
for one another (4) Become a better person for knowing me.

So if we were able to access your great program for free and implement it throughout our many Coaches & athletes, this Program would gain a huge profile and assist us in our quest to be the best we can be.
Thank you for your consideration.
Kind regards,
Brian Cook

I was always third place.

In grade school in the 50 yard dash and the 100 yard dash, third place. At Regionals in the 100 yard dash, third place. In high school, third place on the team in the 100, third place at Regionals in the 400.

If nobody knows who was second, nobody cares who was third. The sad thing is that what I know now is that the difference between third and first is razor thin. If I had the training then based on what I know now, I might have placed first a couple of times.

Anyway, the fact that I am talking about yards when most talks about meters probably dates me. But the truth is that I have taken what knowledge I have about track and applied it to soccer. Even though people in the USYSA won’t admit it, soccer lags behind most sports in athleticism. Take a look at the myotest.com website, and you will see that Volleyball, Basketball and Track athletes far outperform soccer athleties in power, speed and strength in almost every measure from squat jump to bench press.

Anyway, I am starting to apply what I now to helping athletes in soccer and other sports to get faster, which is really what it is about in any of these team sports. I am looking forward to the multidirectional speed webinar because I want to take these concepts and make sports like soccer more watchable by introducing more athleticism, along with the technical skills needed to play at the highest level.

hi brian well i think that i should be the one to get your program because ? i don’t really . know after growing up playing hockey ,baseball + soccer i joined the military and got married 13 years later i am a single dad of 2 young boys and i am the main father figure to 2 other boys due to their fathers death . i try to help the kids with sports and have a hunger to do that for a living but with working 40+ hrs and traveling 10+ hrs a week it leaves very little time or energy to do that right . it would be my dream to be able to do that for a living while being able to help these 4 young boys be the best athletes that they can be in there choosen sports of football ,baseball and soccer. sincerely chad

I would like the information that your offering because it would be very benificial with what I do. I am currently a wide receiver coach at a local university, but plan on applying for a strength and conditioning job. This would help with more content for my resume.

Brian,

I am a middle school PE teacher of 21 years and a coach as well. I have never complained about the wages that I’m paid for my work and I have never really asked much from the kids that I volunteer to coach, (there are some teams that I get paid to coach) other than to demonstrate real effort. I know that you know good intentions and a reasonable amount of knowledge can go pretty far in the world of youth sports. But, with good intentions and the knowledge that you guys have to share, now perhaps the sky is the limit.

There’s a good possibility that I would pay for the certification, but to be honest it would be a blessing to get it for free.

Thanks from one coach to another.

Brian,

I work for a not-for-profit community hospital system in the rehab services department. We are interested in helping kids develop their potential in athletics, while also helping to prevent injury. With the present state of the healthcare system in the US, it is increasing difficult to obtain funding for eqiupment and programs. Philanthropy is very important to our organization, as we are able to meet the needs of our communities by the generosity of others. A quality program such as yours would really make a difference. Thank you for your consideration.

I’m a single mom who is trying to help my 9 year old son and 14 year old daughter and their teammates/friends reach the goals they have in basketball and soccer. These kids work and train hard, but even with my untrained eye I can tell that skill development isn’t always their biggest need, it’s how to move, to react, to be the first to the ball and how to change directions. It is so frustrating for them to watch kids who aren’t putting in the time, effort and work that they are, out perform them, simply because they are blessed with natural speed and quickness. I want them to realize that hard work really will pay off in the end, but I know I need a way to show them how to get quicker. The coaches will show them drills, and they will practice extra hours on their own, but no one is showing them how to be faster and more agile. I would like to help them and this would be a way I could learn how.

Hello Mr. Grasso,

As you may guess I am emailing to tell you why I deserve a free copy Speed & Agility Specialist Certification. So I am just going to lay down my reasons in a list for you.

– I myself am an eighteen-year-old Student Athlete from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. My sport of choice is Ultimate Frisbee, I am attempting to break the roster for Junior Team Canada this year and it is my last year of eligibility. Being a Student I have a very limited budget to begin with and with Ultimate being fairly underground sport I must pay most of my travel/team costs out of pocket, leaving me with not much room to spend anywhere else.

– I have also recently became the Ultimate Frisbee Program Coordinator for Glenlawn Collegiate and not only have little experience running a program like that but also a limited coaching background as well. With Glenlawn being a High School and again Ultimate sits low on the totem pole there is next to no funding for our program, making it hard to justify spending extra money on something like your Speed & Agility Specialist Certification.

I see your Speed & Agility Specialist Certification having huge benefits for myself as a player, giving me the knowledge and skill to really help push my training to that next level that will allow me to accomplish my goals.

With my position at Glenlawn in the Ultimate Program any chance i can get to further my knowledge in the world of sport/training the better of I am, and the better it is for the kids. Also having any extra certification never hurts when dealing with stubborn parents.

Thanks your for your consideration and if you are able to assist me, and that’s by any means even if I don’t meet the criteria your using for this free Speed & Agility Specialist Certification, I would greatly appreciate any help and would love to hear from you.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this,

I am about to open a fitness centre in my area (Melbourne – Australia) and love all the IYCA stuff. I have taught PE in schools for over 7 years and am sadly watching the emphasis on Health and Physical Edcation dwindle while the children’s waist lines grow. I want to make a difference and teach kids stuff that works, is worthwhile and contributes to lifelong exercise participation. This tickes all those boxes!!

Dear Mr. Grasso,
I am a 46 year old Mom of 2 kids. I have been teaching fitness classes since my early 20’s and a former figure skater and now a visiting lecturer at Bridgewater State college in the Exercise Science dept. I have always loved distance running ,cycling but since giving birth to two sprinters decided to try, at my age sprinting. I am currently studying for the NSCA CSCS exam having been a certified personal trainer and group fitness counseling thru AFAA for many years, but now want more. So why do I desire this program? Simple, lack of quality programs for adolescence in preparing and participating in high school sports. Entrenched coaches neglect to stay current on emerging techniques , cannot teach technique i.e. running mechanics. But rather rely on naturally talented kids to carry them thru the season. They lack the ability and knowledge to implement improvement designed programs to all willing participants so all can reach their potential; “ Put the fastest on the 4 X 1 team” letting others never realizing what they might have been able to accomplish. Local school districts do not have the funds to pay for strength and conditioning programs for off season or preseason athletes but rather rely on “captains practices run by young kids without proper backgrounds.” I have a vision to resurrect a former introductory youth track and field in Bridgewater ,Ma. Designed to create enthusiasm in track and field and prepare 4- 8th graders for freshman year, plus running legitimate speed and agility camps for high school athletes in the summer. Developing accolades begin from the top down. If we want our kids to be enthusiastic, have resolve, perseverance and tenacity, we must mentor these characteristics, which is just what intend to do with youths as I already do with the college age students that I instruct. I pledge to keep an openness to accept the challenges of the newest, cutting edge science, yet allow for students to always question my expertise. If I do not have reasons for my program designs, I might want to rethink my objectives and outcomes.
Best Regards,
Kimberly Puopolo-Larcom

Brian, I run an adult fitness bootcamp in new jersey. I recently moved my location to a Tennis Clib. This location has youth members that are looking for speed and agility training to help them to become ranked indiviuals. Since I am the resident fitness expert they have come to me for help. I am in the process of taking my level 1 youth fitness specialist certification. I think the addition of your speed and agility certification will give me the knowledge to help these kids and expand my business. As a former high school and college athelete I know how hard it is to get the correct training to succeed. I hope this certification will helpo me train these kids to be their best.

Hi Brian,

I have been a fitness and strength training coach for 12 years now and have had a diverse set of clientele. I truly feel that is not enough to be passionate in helping others improve on their performance at any given sport, but we also should have the initiative to update and equip ourselves as trainers and coaches with new approaches to training that will help our athletes perform at their best safely and effectively. So, to realize this objective, it is dependent upon us to deliver this methodology in training approach to our athletes and clients in the most rational and efficient manner possible.

Dear Brian,
I really need that certificate for my dream. Being an NBA player had been my dream career for my life. Now I am still 13 years old in Indonesia but being an Indonesian have very tough road to my dream. First of all, I need to be the best in school, then best in tournament, and then the best in Indonesia. Doing that then can make me have a higher chance of going into the NBA. I an told by my coach that all I need is speed. I am in the substitute team and just getting 3 seconds for 20 meters run and I will be in the regulars. I hope you can understand.

I need those tips on Hip Turns and Plyo-Steps, I Have been playing soccer for more then ten years, and in soccer videos of myself when I was little, or even in high school videos, it surprised me that these movements are the ones that keep me from being more agile than what I am?

Matt Corsaro

Hi Bryan,

I have done countless amounts of research on core excersises, running technique speed and agility work and have found out some things, but ultimately i have failed to find anything thats signifacantly good. Now, i am 15 years old and i play soccer for afc Bournemouth in the Uk. It has been my personal target to improve on my physical side to the game (speed, strength, agility) however this is very hard for me as i am a late developer so i am only now at the peak of my growth spurt; which has had a knock on effect on being able to do weights and that sort of thing. The fact is that i am not very quick and quite weak so this is really letting my game down, i am technically very good so if i can just get stronger and substancially quicker then there will be a big difference in my game. All i ask is to be given some excersises or even ideally a programme which will give me a guarantee of becoming stronger, quicker and more agile. I hope to hear from you in due course, and thanks for you’re time Bryan!

Matt

Brian
I’ve been coaching Ultimate at the high school level going on 4 years now. If you know anything about Ultimate ( ultimate frisbee) you know its all about speed and agility. The need for acceleration and deceleration in any direction at any moment and the ability to elevate and go horizontal as well as having good top end speed is essential to the sport. Also, you would know that most of the kids drawn to the sport are not your typical athletic types. Some are natural athletes, but most have not had much training or experience in athletics. I know ,some what innately, the mechanics of speed and agility ,but find it hard at times to convey the meaning to some of these kids. Having a well thought out system would help develop these kids in 1 to 2 seasons instead of 3 or more seasons that it is taking my harder cases. I know different kids develop at different rates, with this training we can get everyone on a more accelerated path. As with any sport if you don’t have the mechanical and physical ability to preform the necessary moves, ie. cutting and defending strategies, your self esteem wavers and your draw to the sport or any athletic endeavor wains. With your training I hope to capture a group of kids who ordinarily would just be satisfied with just staying on the side line and miss out on the fulfillment athletics has to offer. There is more to it than just good health. There is the feeling of accomplishment, self betterment and an opportunity for social inclusion at a level some of these kids would otherwise never know.

Thank you for this opportunity
Mark Cuson

Hi Brian,

I am a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level. Unfortunately due to budget cuts the college is unwilling to spend money on strength training equipment, clinics, facilities, etc. While I am constantly trying to do things to help our athletes it becomes a financial burden to constantly reach into my own pocket. I have been coaching youth basketball and soccer for the past ten years. Overthe last three years, I have crossed over into the field of Speed, Agility and Quickness training. My work remains primarily devoted to the youth and now high school aged athletes.

I pride myself in remaining current with the trends and scientific findings. I look to the group of coaches referred in the recent emails as my “go to” resources or gurus in this previously overlooked aspect of athletic training. I continue to be amazed by the benefits my trainees report and that I witness with the implementation of these training techniques. I would like to continue to benefit from the tools and knowledge available in order to benefit the athletes with whom I train and counsel.

THank you many times over.

Hi Brian,

I am a graduate of the US Naval Academy and a disabled veteran. I have been involved with our youths in soccer and baseball training and coaching for 25 years.

While I have been reading about speed training for some time. Also, I read all of Lee’s and your blogs regarding speed training, I have had little interest from coaches in our area in assisting them in increasing player and overal team speed. In fact, some coaches still believe that speed cannot be taught.

I have had limited success in training speed for soccer. Not enough to gain momentum and recognition in the Treasure Coast area. I very much need assistance in building a recognized speed training program for our youths from ages 4-14. I also greatly like to incorporate speed training for both soccer and baseball.

My overall objective is to enable our youth, to be the best they can be and have fun while doing so.

All My best,
John Viotto

Brian,

I don’t know if I “deserve” the free speed certification, but as the Director of Operations and a soccer coach for PURE FC with an exercise and sports science background, professional playing experience, and a handful of personal training certifications I feel that it’s my duty to offer the players AND (more importantly) the coaches in my soccer club the best system of athletic development and speed development education possible. This certification will go a very long way in helping me fulfill my duties and achieve a much larger goal for our entire soccer club.

I was one of the original subscribers to the IYCA a few years back before you began to offer all of the different levels and courses. I went through the Level 1 (I think before it was even called the level 1 course) and even bought the entire complete athlete development system. I’ve implemented everything I have learned from the courses, books, cds into our Athletic Development program that works hand-in-hand with our soccer coaching curriculum within our club. We build athletes (that just happen to love playing soccer…YES we get the crazy questions from parents like “Why is my 6 year old hopping, rolling, and skipping during practice instead of learning how to “pass” a soccer ball?”). Unfortunately, since launching our new soccer club, I have been totally swamped and have never made my IYCA Certifications official and sent in one of the tests…Much like you, right now I work 100 hours a week out of a 168 hour week and just haven’t done it!

Good news is, we are requiring all of our coaches now to become IYCA certified (meaning I have to send in my tests ASAP so I’m official!) while they are going through our coaching training program before they are cut loose with any players at any level. This is going to be huge for player development within the North Florida soccer community! So, obviously, the Speed Certification is a No-Brainer for me…since I am in charge of our athletic development program and our curriculum implementation. Simply put…I need it so I can help our coaches go through the system as well so that they learn how the IYCA system of athletic development and speed development system fits into their soccer coaching and the PURE FC coaching curriculum. Once I finish-up the Speed Certification…guess what??? The rest of our coaches will be next…

How’s that for a novel idea???…ALL soccer coaches from within a club are REQUIRED to become knowledgeable about athletic development and speed development (I didn’t say experts…that’s a stretch…baby steps!) and how to correctly build athletes (you would think that would go without saying!!!!).

Thanks for your time Brian and keep up the good work. We’re following you out here in Florida and look forward to getting more heavily involved with the IYCA and getting our hands on the Speed Certification.

I am the managere at a Wellness Center in rural Iowa. I’ll be honest that I enjoy sports recreationally but have never loved sports BUT what I don’t love is seeing kids get injured because of improper training. I would love to take on doing a speed and agility training program for students. We don’t have a college in town so collegiate will not be something we work with but taking care of our young aspiring athletes, well this would just be fantastic! We are affiliated with a hospital and we are currenlty moving from a 1500 sq. foot area to a 15,000 sq. foot area and this would be awesome to be able to offer when we move in the next 6 months. Why do I think I should get this for free? Because I believe in you, I believe in the IYCA and most importantly I believe in teaching kids teh proper way to do things to prevent injuries. I am a wellness professional becausse I care about the health and wellness of our people here. Currently the closest program of speed and agility is about 50 miles away and it’s the the whole six week thing of I’ll make you faster just come and see!
I would be most appreciative as so would the community.
Thank you

I played three sports through college; was drafted professionally in one sport and invited to tryout camps with a second. I have coached at the college level in two sports and at the high school level in a third. I make my living in baseball and am passionately interested in ways to improve my students overall athleticism in any way possible. I have been impressed with Latif Thomas’ programs and, in fact, would welcome him to participate in our upcoming “sports information” website. If there is good information available anywhere … I’m in.

Brian,

As a sports performance specialist i have followed you, Lee Taft, and Latif Thomas on a regular basis. Your information continually drives me forward and keeps my mind sharp. I look forward to such a certification because not only do i teach it, i practice it myself. I am a multi sport athlete for many years and always strive to give the athletes that i train the cutting edge. I also have opportunities to begin running large scale speed camps here in San Diego and although i am working diligently to prepare, any and all extra information helps. I look forward to the webinar and certification!

I am a Head Coach for Track & field at a prominent High School in Jamaica, over the years I have seen my role change starting with the Soccer Coach intervention with a request that I oversee the Soccer team’s fitness programme, then the Basketball, then hockey, now there is a proposal on my desk for Softball and Cricket.
Because of the constant additions, I constantly look for material that fits into my training philosophy, I get excited to have the opportunity to broaden my knowledge base about Youth Speed and agility
With the economy the way it is, it is hard for the parents to afford clinics or camps, but our student/athletes needs every advantage so that they can get to become better at what they do
Naturally, it would be an understatement to say that it would be win/win scenario for me and the student/athletes
THANKS for the opportunity

Hi Brian

Thank you for this oppurtunity….Why me? I am a passionate speed and agilty coach hungry to become better. I am incredibly motivated to help aspiring athletes be the best they can! To do that I must keep abreast of cutting edge training and marketing concepts. You guys are with out doubt the best.

My involvement as a coach and competitor cuts across a number of sports where speed and agility are crucial for success such as Australian Rules Football (one of the fastest games on earth) and athletics.

After many years of informal coaching I am about to launch my very first formal speed and agility camp due to the being inspired by guys like yorself, Latif, Pat and Lee.

I look forward to the webinar with enthusiasm.

Brian I am trying to help my soccer team better prepare for next season. Last season at U 13 we were good but some of the boys just do not run well nor execute stops and turns proficiently. I feel this would greatly enhance their performance if they were better able to do these, and when adding ball control, could become quite dynamic. I would be most grateful to get a look at some ideas.
Thanks

I really would like to have the new Speed & Agility Specialist Certification because I work for a physical therapy clinic that often deals with many school age athletic injuries, many of which are a result of poor training techniques, poor coaching, and unfortunately, poor advise from some rehab professionals. I have tried to keep up to date through much of the information that is provided by both yourself and Lee, and also have ordered DVD’s from your sites or at Perform Better Summits. I feel that you can really enhance your skills and make a real difference in the lives of young athletes by applying the knowledge learned from your training information. I am looking forward to getting this new “toolbox” to put into practice.

Hey Brian,

I have four children competing in track and field.
Learning more about young athletes training, i saw that the training they were receiving in the club was not always what it should be.
That’s why i am trying to train them on my one.
It’s my dream to shear my knowledge with more children and parents. A certification should help me a lot further.

With kind regards
Robin

I coach football, basketball, weight lifting, speed training and track at the middleschool I work at. I’m constantly looking at new and improved ways to make my athletes more competitive. I feel that with your help and knowledge I can take more athletes to the next level.

Faster stronger athletes equals one thing Brian and that is success, and that success can come many different forms.
Winning records for teams and individuals, more confidence and self esteem for the bubble athletes, less stressed out coaches, parents who loose their white knuckles at games and competitions, but most importantly that success comes from keeping homegrown talent at home.

When athletes are exposed to the best training program out there, then they will be faster, stronger and stay injury free and the added bonus is they will stay right here in their home town of Red Deer and not have to travel 2 hours up the highway to Edmonton or Calgary.

I want to be that person that delivers that program and spreads the IYCA message loud and clear, I want to make a difference in youth sports today in Red Deer, and you can help me Brian more than you already have. Thanks for everything

I think I deserve this because I am and have been training kids in our school district for the past nine years for nothing other than passion. I am the youngest coach in our strength program facing much criticism about every type of training that I do from other veteran coaches. Every workout the coaches are constantly asking where my research is, who is it by, where is it from, etc. I believe in and have used the speed development information you have sent out. I also agree in your training philosophies for the different age groups for kids. Currently, there it is not financially possible for me to afford to come to one of your speed certification seminars. Over the past summers of running the strength and conditioning program for our school district, the money I have made has gone back into equipment, and other needs for our weight training facility. I do it for the love of training our 7th through senior in high school kids and I plan to keep doing it despite the veterans I am up against. I believe in you, your program, your philosophies, and your program certification. I appreciate very much the chance for this one-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I am a physical therapist by profession, and a youth soccer coach for three of my six children. I have been emphasizing agility training, for improved sports performance, but also for injury prevention. I have been approached by a number of coaches from the other club soccer teams, and one of our high school soccer coaches, to work with their athlete’s, as they have seen the results of our work with the teams we have trained. There is still much that I can learn to help these kids even more that I have. While I’m not certain that I ‘deserve’ this great gift, it sure would be helpful to my vision of creating a sports performance company with an emphasis on all the regular things that we focus on – speed, agiility, quickness, power – but also, and what I think may be even more important is an emphasis on sportsmanship, values and virtue. The camps and clinics I envision, and am planning, will emphasize teamwork, with a basis in faith in God. My athletes will leave my clinics and camps with an understanding that it is only through the grace of our Creator that we are able achieve greatness, and it is for His glory that we should strive for greatness – not for personal vain glory. Unfortunately, humility and proper sportsmanship is something that is horribly lacking in many of our successful athletes today. With the help of your program and my love for Christ, I can make my vision a reality. I am grateful for your consideration!

In His grip,

Alan

Hi Brian,

I’m just going to go straight into it & try and be brief, as I could rabble on about this for days.

This last year has been without question the toughest & worst year of my life. In August 2008 I was attempting to go to the Olympics and came 3rd in the Irish Olympic trials (not a bad effort). I achieved a lifetime best at 28 and was invited to the UK Challenge final in Eton. It was going pretty well for me. Here is how the newspaper reported it:

—————————————————————————————-
ADAM Walker admits his season is over after dislocating his knee in testing conditions at the UK Challenge Final in Eton. The Crawley Athletic Club pole vaulter suffered the freak accident when going for his second attempt at 4.46m in the Thames Valley Athletics Stadium.
Walker, the Sussex senior champion, had only been a late call-up to the event after another athlete dropped out, but still managed to finish fourth and pocketed £100 prize money.
But the 28-year-old was left with mixed emotions as he was taken to hospital following the accident and will not be able to compete for the rest of the season.
I am so happy with my best result of fourth in the UK, but it cost me a knee and is still swelling,” said Walker.
“I’m angry that the organisers made us vault in the dangerous conditions and didn’t move it indoors or call it off.
“Last time I vaulted there about eight years ago, another competition was called off after a friend of mine had a career ending injury in dangerous conditions. He never vaulted again and still limps now.”

Walker’s injury compounded a miserable weekend for him which began on Friday night when his ankle swelled because of an insect bite picked up at a midweek meeting in Woking.
Having been told he had an infection, he was prescribed antibiotics to reduce the swelling and made it to Eton only to find the rain had left standing water on the pole vault run-up.
The competitors were told the event would not be moved indoors and Walker had to make the best of the conditions, clearing 4.16m and 4.31m to put him in fifth place.
With conditions worsening, Walker went for 4.46m but on his second attempt at the new height, it all went wrong.

“I came flying in, puddles splashing, struggling to grip the pole, my take-off foot was too close, and although it didn’t feel right I tried to vault,” he said.
“But my foot slipped from under me, I tried to grip the pole but my top hand slipped off the pole and I ended up crumpled in the box, screaming and gripping my knee.
“It’s a bit of a blur. The pain was excruciating, as my patella (knee-cap) was ripped off and leg had been hyper-extended. I thought I was going to see bone sticking through so I was initially relieved.”

The PAIN involved was a shock to me, but with my Good friend and long term physio John Allen reassuring me I had to do it and the pain was necessary I didn’t look back. The physio’s I have always used are Matthews & Allen, one is the Head physio for the Wimbledon tennis Championships every year and the other is in charge of the majority of the UK Athletics teams at major championships (I had to wait for him to get back from Beijing to help me out!.

——————————————————————
Anyway its 14 months later 3 knee operations down, was treated for depression, stopped/froze my Youth conditioning business, had to drop out of RL mastermind group, unable to attend the IYCA summit (operations), officially retired from polevault 2 months ago (no choice) and stilll cannot run/jog.

Last week attended a Paralympic potential day. From this I was identified as having talent in a few areas and this week attended and then last night officially made it into the GB VOLLEYBALL (sitting) SQUAD aiming to go to the 2012 GAMES here in LONDON!

I’ve found my new sport!

My Sport Speed Academy is going to start back up this week after a 10 month lay off.

I’m re-building a life after polevault (18 years) and all I knew and I’m slowley getting there.

Hope to meet up again soon Brian & I’ll try to push the IYCA in the UK when I get the chance.

Adam

Brian,

As I write this, it’s 4:52 am, and I’m preparing to drive 3 hours to run a 2-day program for 55 6-th graders on how to be more compassionate and respectful towards each other. When I return, I’ll be teaching my weekly class to another 17 obese 8-12 year-olds and their families about how to have fun staying fit and eating healthy. Then I’ll go back to my office job for the rest of the week. Later, I’ll return outdoors to run a high ropes course for another 60 8th graders. Over the weekend, I’ll be meeting with a 12-year-old and his mom that want to learn more about getting in shape for sports, and I’ll also work on developing the 12-hour course on strength training I’m teaching at my local YMCA.
I provide these examples not to boast or say “woe is me,” but rather to illustrate the main reason why I deserve the free Speed & Agility certification: I am already doing some good things for kids, but I believe I can do SO much more. The free certification would help me accomplish my dream of helping more kids understand the beauty and excitement of physical activity.
I know everyone says that this is a bad time to switch careers, but I know that my calling is to help kids, so I’ve committed to moving towards my dream in whatever way is necessary. Right now, that means working 6 different jobs to make ends meet, but my hope is that by utilizing the knowledge I’ll gain from the certification, I can create income WHILE I help kids. I already have the training to help kids understand the emotional/mental side of teamwork and success, and I have a long history of interest in the physical realm (college & semi-pro athlete, volunteer coach, Personal Trainer, etc.). If I can add the technical and business details offered in the Speed & Agility certification, I’ll be a dynamo in my area — spreading the word about the right way to help kids become better athletes.
I have already learned so much from your regular marketing e-mails, and I take every opportunity I can to access the free resources that are available to me. I think I can eventually put together this info on my own, but having access to the certification would make things so much easier, and allow me to spend more time helping the kids that feed my passion.
I look forward to this evening’s webinar, and I hope that you’ll consider me for the free certification.

Regards,
Eric Starkweather

As a high school coach and a fitness professional that works with kids of all different abilities it would be a valuable tool for me to reference to help athletes and non-athletes improve in all areas of fitness. the reputation that you and Mr. Taft have as professional in youth fitness, i know that I would be getting quality information. I find that so many professionals are trying to teach speed development wrong – ie doing treadmill running- I find it frustrating to see this and listen to people say that it works. I would like to be able to take this manual and show them why it is not just getting kids on a overspeed treadmill.

I look forward to reading the manual and utilizing the information in it.

thanks

I’m a strength coach and fitness professional and I’m always looking to increase my knowledge base. I work with young athletes from grade school through college and I find that I do more and more coaching on running technique as well as footwork mechanics. I’m able to pass my knowledge to my own 3 kids as well. I look forward to the webinar and thank you so much for this opportunity. Keep up the good work!

My reasons for wanting the speed and agility certification are somewhat selfish. I have a 14-year-old who is extremely good at soccer, yet as I have watched her over the past two years, I am really starting to see the areas where the coaches neglect to train the entire athlete. They work only on specific skills and ignore the other aspects of the girls training. I am a fitness professional and really see an overall lack in the knowledge of coaches, not only in this sport, but other sports I watch as well.

Brian,

I am a high school and youth club track and field coach. Having long ago transitioned from athlete to coach (whether I knew it or not), I constantly work to broaden my knowledge base both from the technical aspects of sport/athleticism and critical transfer of knowledge required to help athletes grow and develop. I believe it is essential for young athletes to have a broad knowledge base to build from as they develop and eventually specialize in sports. The transfer of skill from one sport to the another is something that is often overlooked by coaches and parents who pressure young athletes to specialize too early (under the belief that more is better) and creates physiological and psychological gaps for the athlete. I want to provide a broader skill set that the athletes I work with can draw from later in the athletic careers.

Budget cuts have got me down :) I would love to have a copy to compliment my Boot Camp programs, Personal Training, and sport specific training. I have years of experience in the industry and appreciate good quality materials! Not to mention, I can sell snow cones to eskimos, so if I like it, I can refer it on to the other many professionals I work with :) Would appreciate being considered for a free copy, I promise to put it to good use on lots of workthy people :)

Why I would like more info on the subject…
I am a level 2 competitve swim coach, kinesiology grad, personal trainer, pedorthist here in Canada who was fortunate enough to work with other coaches and health care professionals over the years. While in school I had the oppurtunity to work with coaches that trained athletes with the philosophy of “fun, fitness, and fundamentals”. I am always searching for different, more up to date ways to train young athletes. I think this training would be a fun way to add something different into the boaring traditional training of doing laps, staring at the black line at the bottom of the pool.

Lance Layman

Hello my name is Lance Layman. I am a father of 3 young children, ages 6, 10, & 12. I have been active in sports my whole life and played collegiate soccer at Indiana University in the early 80’s. I have always considered myself as a student of physical culture. As an athlete myself, I was gifted with speed, agility, & quickness, and much of my success was due to the fact that I was quicker than most of the athletes I faced. I learned from an early age most things being equal, that speed could be a decisive factor of winning or losing. I currently own my own business working with children developing them in functional fitness that helps them better themselves in all areas of sports. I also have a program that offers functional movement (mobility, agility, balance, coordination, etc..) to the special needs student. Along with my business, I coach & train a few soccer team within the community. I am always looking for innovative training ideas that can help an athlete achieve greater speed, agility, & mobility. I joined the IYCA because I felt it was an invaluable organization to help me better serve the athletes that I come into contact with daily. With trying to get a business off the ground and a family to support, I am unable to get all the certificates that I would like at times. The Speed & Agility Certification would allow me to provide better training techniques for the athletes & kids that I come across, and help create better athletes in the sports that I coach.
Thank you,
Lance Layman

I’ve been involved in youth sports for the last 10 years. I have been trying to change the minds of those who think of training as a punishment.”If you don’t do it right you’ll do 20 push ups or laps.” This infuriates me to no end ,I thought we want kids to enjoy ATHLETIC training, not hate it. I also believe the old saying “we need to learn how to walk before we can run” is wrong , because you need to learn to walk before you LEARN to run. I truly about three years ago was ready to pack it in, frustrated and discouraged that I couldn’t get through to any of the dinosaurs. I found Latif online, someone who’s view I shared( obviously he’s the pro) on ATHLETIC training, then I heard about Brian, and Lee. It gave me reason to continue the great crusade for better athletic development. Now I am the director of coaching for 14 civil football teams in our area, and athletic planning for these teams at different age groups a challenge I’m enjoying very much. Alas though the crusade still continues, lots of dinosaurs still aren’t extinct.

I would like to have the free Speed and Agility Specialist Certification, because for the last 6 years I have been a volunteer Coach with a non profit youth track club. In the last 3 years as Head Coach, I have developed 13 athletes that have won 45 National Championships, many, that have won state and regional titles and a club that has won every meet it has entered in the last 3 years. I took over a club that the founders had been called in different directions. I have had to educate myself and rise to the task. I got the USATF Level 1 in 2006, and proceeded to triple the size of the club from 30 to 100 giving more children the opportunity to participate and learn. I spend thousands of hours, and thousands of dollars taking kids to meets around the country. Many of them are at my expense even though I keep our registration fees lower than all other clubs, a lot of people still cannot afford participation. I have sacrificed a lot to make this program work, and it does. I have never asked anyone for anything but advice, but this I feel will be helpful to me and my club. Please consider my request. Thank you. Coach Blane

I have been coaching sprinters and working with off-season sports for over 13 years. I am passionate about making athletes reach their full potential while creating sound mechanics. I have had the opportunity to train at the OTC-Chula Vista and am a USATF Level II Sprints/Hurdles Certified Coach. I am always looking for ways for my athletes to improve. Speed and Agility coaching is an ongoing learning process and I wish to continue that process by obtaining a Speed and Agility Certification.

Thanks

My reasons for wanting to obtain this certification is quite simple.I have two boys, ages 12 and six. iI tried to coach the recreatio nal basketbal teaml, but was very happy, because the parents made sick.i am a physical therapist,C.S.C.S,PHS,Y.C.S,…Being a former Division basketball player I though I had something to offer , and be respected,,however that was not case.I feel I have only one chance to do it right wheni t comes to the developementt of my two boys who presently love sports. At present organized sports has turned me off and .Ihave chosen to focus on fun athletic type skills.I also have great respect for you and Lee and I have heardyou both speak at several seminars over the year .to me you both are the best there is and want to from the best.

Hello, Please consider me for your certification giveaway because, like many coaches, who lack the knoweledge but want to teach the proper mechanics to those kids that are missing or are unaware of the fundamentals. I coach girls fastpitch softball, most girls lack speed and only work on skills during practice, it’s time to change that mentality with your help.

I would like to have the free Speed and Agility Specialist Certification, because I am currently a full-time High School Strength and Conditioning Coach and Teacher who spends all day helping kids out for free and have created most of my stuff without the aid of any budget…parents help, raising money, ect.. to get some stuff for my kids.
I have dedicated my life to helping athletes out for free (as a teacher and coach) as I was trained for free from 6th grade on for free as my parents could never afford a trainer of any kind.
Without someone taking me in and training me for free, I would’ve just been a below average, or average athlete that went through high school and played a few sports like everyone else.

I travel around the state in my spare time and take all of my teaching personal days to go and visit other programs (both high school and college) to gain anything to help my kids and coaches get better.
Even though I have a 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. schedule M-F and a few hours on the weekend training kids for free, I NEED TO IMPROVE MY SPEED AND AGILITY KNOWLEDGE TO BE ABLE TO BETTER HELP MY ATHLETES AND TO PUT TOGETHER SOME CAMPS TO GET SOME EXTRA MONEY FOR FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT THAT MY KIDS AND SCHOOL NEED!

Thank you for your consideration in this manner. I hope that I am the type of candidate with the goals and attributes that you are looking for.
Sincerely,
Jeremy

First of all, I want to THANK WHOMEVER is involved in giving me this opportunity to receive your program for free. Second, I apolozie for responding late after your first invitation for the program. Now to answer your question, of why I want the program. I was not afforted the opportunity to learn a program of this magatude when I was taught sports or runnng when I was growing up. I will turn 50 yrs. old ..lol .. on the 12th of NOV., I can began to understand the coaches of my time but technology and theories has changed. I want to give to myself and the people that I surround myself with, the new and innorvative training that I think will work and propel them to new and higher levels. I play 16″ softball here in the Chicagoland area and the leagues are very competitive and I want to continue at that level of play even at my age and win. I don’t teach to students or run a program but I do want to give better ADVICE to people when they ask.. I won’t continue to draw this out but again want to THANK ALL INVOLVED in crreating such a program that OPENS up my eyes to CHANGE.

Yours Truly ,

Hi

Sorry for being late in replying your e-mail because I have been away! I thought this a great opportunity to receive something like your fanastic Speed and Agility free certification.

I am living in UK and I have always had a great interest to improve our athletes within our region and also have a great desire to improve my knowledge as a coach, not only myself to pass on the knowledge onto athletes & club coaches.

I am a 10 hours per week Disability Schools Sports Coach for a local authority and also an Athletics Club Coach. I am interested to find out about your speed & agility certificate because it might help with my youngsters in the schools to improve their speed, co-ordination, agility and balance because of their poor co-ordination and balance problems.

Plus I will use this certification to my athletics club to improve their speed & agility, especially for my youngsters who are showing great potential in combined events and I need to keep their motivation going by introducing new ideas within their training schedules. Two of them are in the UK top 10 of their age group, so it is important to keep raising their abilities forwards and upwards to higher levels of their athletics careers.

I feel that I would like to have a opportunity to receive this free Speed & Agility Certificate to help others within our region such as coaches and athletes by organising speed & agility camps for clubs, county and regional squads as well.

I hope you will considered me as one of the chosen ones to receive this great opportunity!

Many Regards

Paul Smith

hi brian
sorry for the delay/reply been in hospital having surgery return 7-10 09.and never notice the email was in juck mail box. to try and answer your question it would be nice to receive the free speed&agility cert as i live in the middle of the desert central australia town call alice springs where it would be of great benefit for me learning more about the course so as to pass it on to our out back school and the development programs within the area.hoping this meet with you and it not to late. and if so maybe you will run another down the track.
many thanks &cheers robert

Dear Brian: I would be interested in the agility and speed documentation offered so I can help my clients or give advise to those people who do nothing but sit all day. The average person is not agile and does everything in straight upright motion. This is very bad being prone to falls from not having their body agiled enough to build strength from alleviated a bad fall.

Thanks. Marie Theresa

Brian,

I am a physical teacher at a high school that has won national awards from Health magazine and the Clinton Alliance for our work in fighting child obesity. I also work with designing training programs for our sports teams. In addition, I speak to parents on child obesity and athletic development within the district and in various public forums (Town and Village Groups). Like you, so much of the knowledge I have researched in speed and agility has been contradictory. I have read, watched dvds, and spoken with trainers who specialize in this area. None of them agree or have a program that seems to be progressive, take the age of the participants into account, or seem to click with me in their transfer of knowledge from application to execution. I would love a program like this to bring back to all the kids, athletes, and parents I teach. I think the ultimate goal is to change people’s lives and this program will enable me to take a great step forward!

Hello Brian
Why should you allow me to have the chance of improving my knowledge and by doing so give me the chance of passing on the knolwege and skills that I will have gained to the children around my area!.

Im just an everyday father who decided he would like to help out at his sons club, and things have progressed from there, I have taken coaching courses to allow me to coach at his club and I do have a qualification with the IYCA, but have not been able to go any further due to financial constraints.
I have trawled the net for items on speed and gleaned small snipits of information but know that realy I need the substance and guidance of someone like yourself who can pass on their knowledge and enthusiasm, I only wish I could visit in person and experience one of your events.

It time to spot the madness, High school coaches, middle school coaches, park ball coaches & parents..It has been my obervation while assisting and talking to coaches..They are consume with wining now, not developing kids..They operate on the primise that the kids with the God given ability to run fast or jump high stand over here and the other stand over there..The kids with the ability are not taught fundamentals or techiniques, they are given play books..The others are given play books and pluged in a position..Their overall condition is poor, most can’t do 10 pushup..When trying to implement a training regiment, the coach would say we have a game in 2 weeks, we don’t has time for all of that.. I must admit my eyes were opened when I purcahsed the Total Speed Training Manual..I could use more ammunition to combat one coach, one parent & one kid at a time..

Hi Brian,
I have three boys 12, 11 and 6, the oldest of the group has a learning delay in everything that he does. We are sending him to a motor skills specailist every week and he is impoving. Right now his motor skills are that of an 8 maybe 9 yr old. The middle child is a rep soccer player that has great ablity and knowledge but with his growth is losing a step. the youngest just started a in soccer development program because he wanted to learn and not just play. They two youngest have also started ice skating and I think that the agility program would be wonderful for their development. The oldest has started basketball this winter, for the first time and needs any help that I can give him. We as a family love to play sports, my back ground is hockey, and try to go out and practice all the time. I have set up our basement with some ladders and a ball control area, but need help with improving the boys movement and speed. Thank you for the opprotunity, as this sounds like the missing link to my childrens training.

Thank You
Kevin
